Uniko's Customer Top 10 of 2023 - Number 3

Hello & Happy Friday.

I'm back today with the next Uniko's Customer Top 10 of 2023 - Number 3 and really it is no surprise that this product, Background Blocks Mid Century Modern has made it into the top 3. And when I looked at my website stats, it has actually now made it to the top as Uniko's ALL TIME Best Seller.

I cheated a little with today's card and I am sharing one I made recently for Creative Stamping magazine, issue 129.

For this card I paired the background with Beautiful Blooms III and a sentiment from Everyday Spring Sentiments.

Thanks for joining me again today.

Festive Floral Friday - Modern Poinsettia Wreath

Hello & Happy Friday.

It's the first day of the school holidays and it is pretty much a washout! The Beans have been quite happy playing gadgets and generally enjoying some downtime. So I have taken the opportunity to be in the studio and getting creative. I've all the upcoming release on my desk, so there is a bit of creative chaos happening.

Anyway, I've been wanting to create another modern poinsettia card for a while and as my wreath builder stencil was out in my MISTI, I got to stamping one using the solid flower from Flower Power #1.

Once I stamped all the flowers, alternating between Poppy and Cranberry inks from Concord & 9th, I added a trio of dots using a little cluster from Originally Organic Additions. The filled the centre of the dots using a black fine liner. Lastly, you know I love a bit of fussy cutting, so cut the wreath out!

With all these new goodies in reach, I couldn't resist adding a sentiment and bow embellishment from one of the stamp sets. It was a perfect match made in heaven 😉

It's almost time for swimming lessons and if this rain continues at this rate, we will be swimming to the swimming lessons!

Two For Tuesday - You Are, Yes You

Happy Tuesday!

A few weeks ago when the clear stamp restocks arrived, I had a little creative spell and I made a few cards for the Harrogate Crafterama show, which I forgot to share here on the blog.

One of the stamp sets I reached for was You Are, Yes, You. Here are two cards I made using it...

First I started out by creating a mask of both the single leaves. I then stamped and masked to create branches. Colouring them with Copic Markers and fussy cutting them out. I then stamped the flower and did the same.

I adhered the branches onto my card base which I had softly ink blended with a light blue. The flower is adhered with foam adhesive. The sentiment is from Simply Said Blocks II and I added a few rhinestones to finish.

For my second card I kept things really simple. I started by using the Mid Century Modern Shapes stencil, inking the 3 circular shapes in lime, orange and aqua.

I then stamped the flower and leaf in black ink, along with one of the mix and match sentiment choices. I felt it needed a little simple embellishment, so stamped the trio of dots from Floral Vines. This panel was then adhered to the card base using foam adhesive.

Such a fun little set that has lots of pairing opportunities, but also has a lot of potential on its own.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Friday Focus - Wonderful Day

Happy Friday!

I have survived the school holidays - haha! It's actually been alright and we have had some fun. The weather could have been a little sunnier, but we can't have everything.

Today I have a trio of cards using Wonderful Day

This clear stamp set recently came back in stock and I was immediately inspired to create a card using it with the recently released Background Blocks Rays. I've also used a sentiment focal point from Sentiments Outlined.

I started by stamping the 'Have a Wonderful Birthday' sentiment central on my card base. I then positioned the Background Block Rays in my stamping tool so that I could stamp it in opposing corners on my card base in a soft yellow ink.

I then stamped the flowers and leaves from Wonderful Day in black ink. I used a little bit of simple masking to have the leaves pop out from behind the flowers. I finished off with some glittery enamel dots from my stash.

My second card uses just Wonderful Day.

I stamped and fussy cut two flowers and a selection of leaves from the set, which I have arranged around one of the sentiments stamped in black on a white mat layer.

I've then used the larger of the outline circles, intended for flower centres and stamped it around the edge of my base card in black ink. I then adhered my mat layer to the base using double sided tape and added some Nuvo Drop accents.

The use of the circle stamp on my second card inspired my third! I love it when creativity flows like this.

Here I started by stamping my sentiment. I then selected 5 colours to stamp both the large and small solid dots. I also added in some black ones to tie in the outline circles, which I stamped overlapping each other and some of the coloured dots. The smaller trio of dots is from Floral Vines to fill in a few of the gaps.

Wonderful Day is such a fun set to let your creativity flow and it pairs wonderfully with the Background Blocks. I've also shown, that even though it is a floral set, you can achieve masculine one layer makes too.

That's all from me today.

WILD Wednesday!

Hello!

It's been a wild Wednesday here in the studio and I am only just getting round to sharing some new WILD makes. This graphic I made inspired me to dust off the WILD clear stamp set, the Stencil - Zebra Print and some other wild products. So much so, I made a trio of cards to share with you.

First up is this super simple one layer card.

I've been wanting to practice softer inking and I thought today was the perfect opportunity to do so using the Stencil - Zebra Print. I rather like how this turned out. It isn't perfect and a little patchy in places, but I really like the effect. I used Distress Oxide Black Soot ink.

I then stamped the WILD sentiment & accompanying sentiments in black ink over the top. Super fun and any of the Uniko animal print stencils would work with this design.

This lead onto my second card today. With creating something with maybe a more masculine feel above, I wanted to make something a little more feminine and also wanted to dust off Paradise and Paradise Leaves clear stamp sets!

I feel like I have totally neglected these fun stamps, which is so easy to do when there are always new goodies coming out - haha!

Anyway. I started by stamping a bunch of leaves and hibiscus flowers using Concord & 9th inks. I then played about to get a little cluster of leaves with the flower with enough room to fit the WILD sentiment.

I think deciding on the layout and the accompanying sentiment which is from Festive Sentiments Outlined took the longest. Even longer than all the fussy cutting!

For my final card today I felt I couldn't leave Bob the Toucan out. After all he does look down on me at my desk!

This time I paired him up with the Large Background Tropical Paradise, which is partially stamped. I also used my stamping tool for this to ensure I could repeat stamp a couple of times to get good coverage.

I created a little sentiment perch for Bob, with the HAPPY sentiment, also from Festive Sentiments Outlined. This time I heat embossed the sentiment in white. I finished the design off with another Hibiscus flower and leaves from the Paradise clear stamp set.

That's all I have to share with you today, I hope you have enjoyed this WILD post and I don't think it'll be too long before you're seeing more of these products 😉

Thanks for stopping by.

Blue Monday...? More like a Mid Century Modern Monday Here!

 Happy Monday!

So today is supposedly the most depressing day of the year and along with being Martin Luther King Day, it is also known as Blue Monday.

TBH I've been too busy juggling 'lockdown life' to even think about Blue Monday! BUT I did manage to squeeze in a couple of cards in between home learning (priorities...right?) and I am here today to hopefully add some cheer to you day with some Mid Century Modern Florals inspiration.

I may have taken a little bit of inspiration from it being Blue Monday with my chosen colours and they aren't 'traditional' Mid Century Modern colours. But I was also inspired by the current Just Us Girls challenge seen HERE.

I recently treated myself to a new Mid Century Modern book for inspiration and because I just love looking at and learning about surface pattern design! But I have been looking at the patterns created with the geometrics during this style period and recreated my own version using elements from the Mid Century Modern Florals clear stamp set.

I used Altenew colours Iceberg, Eastern Sky and Ultramarine for my trio of blues, stamping the detail in black ink for it to stand out. The sentiment is from Birthday Sentiments and I have raised it slightly using 1mm thick foam adhesive.

This lead on to my second card for today...

I had to make at least one of my cards floral! For this card I started out by stamping the Background Block Mid Century Modern II onto a piece of card in the Ultramarine ink twice to create a long strip to fit across my card. Almost representing the ground.

I then stamped a selection of  the elements in the same shades of blue as the first card to build my own Mid Century Modern flower. There are so many mix and match possibilities in this set.

Again, I used the same sentiment and just added a few Nuvo Drops to the flower centre and to accentuate the sentiment.

That's all from me today. I hope that

Brand Ambassador Inspiration Post : Hello Lovely Clear Stamp Set

Hi there!

Hannelie here sharing detail about a card I made with one my favorite stamp sets... the Hello Lovely Clear stamp set.

So happy that UNIKO is open for business again!

So many possibilities with one large floral stamp.

To see more cards I made with this amazing flower stamp set click here & here . It also looks amazing uncolored (black & white)  or in any color of the rainbow!

For today's card I water colored it with my Zig markers :

I used :

To create the BG, I applied distress ink directly to the stencil, laid the stencil on watercolor paper and spritzed it with water. The first try gave a really bold result... too bold to use with an already bold focal point. I repeated the process two more times before I was satisfied with the subtle pattern.

Thanks for visiting ! I hope you leave inspired!
