In the summer of 2016 I was at a Foyles bookshop in London, looking for a new book to read. I started picking books at random and reading the first page, but I was worried about creasing the spines. And so the idea came to me...I was twenty-six and it was was my first coding project, and my first step into web development as a full-time profession. I had the revelation that I didn't need a formal computer science education to learn to code.I posted the website link on Reddit, thinking a few people would like it... and it blew up! It was shared and reposted across tons of different websites. There was even an article on the Verge!At first I monetized the website with Amazon referral links and paid book promotions from self-published authors. I couldn't believe it, I was making money on the internet with something I had created!When I landed a decent job and no longer needed the extra income, I removed both options. I didn't want to drive more traffic to Amazon or saturate the website with paid promotions.So why Patreon?I want to keep working on RMAB for fun and use your ideas and support as motivation to improve the website.For now the rewards will be simple:<ul><li>Request and vote on new features</li><li>Ask me anything – books, coding, music, films, life</li><li>Be featured as an official supporter on the website</li></ul>I'll try to expand on them in the future and would love to hear your ideas.I hope you enjoy the site, whether or not you become an official supporter!
