Here’s a fun dog fitness exercise you can do to keep your dog fit, especially if you do dog sports like dog agility! Using one of my favorite pieces of dog fitness equipment from FitPaws, the Cavaletti set, this canine fitness exercise teaches your dog hind end awareness and builds strength. Here’s how to do it: • 💕 Step 1: Put together your FitPaws cavaletti poles • 💕 Step 2: Grab one set of cones and put one pole on the lowest setting • 💥 Tip: It’s most helpful to start with one set to get your dog used to it • 💕 Step 3: Walk your dog over the cavaletti pole in both directions • 💕 Step 4: Now add in the second set and repeat step 3 • 💥 Tip: Make sure your cavaletti’s are spaced out properly. For Annie, I currently have them one foot apart, but make sure to look up the app

We love to start our training sessions with a quick game of Up and Down! Think of it as a warm up exercise. It’s a great way to check in with your dog to make sure they are engaged and ready to learn. - Start by placing a treat on the ground for your dog to eat. Your dog will drop their head to get it. - Click when the dog orients or looks up at you - Place treat on the ground between your feet - Repeat! This is an easy game to play with your dog to get them quickly engaged and it is our “go to” exercise for starting all training. Think of it as a “warm up” exercise! Your dog learns to orient and “check in” with you to get started. The Up and Down is a game from the Control Unleashed program.
