1hr · 5 servings     PAHADI LUNCH SERIES- GAHAT KI DAAL or horse gram  *Ingredients*  • 1. 2 cups gahat daal  • 2. 1/2 cup malka daal  • 3. 1 full garlic head, minced (it's a must for this recipe)  • 4. 1 tbsp minced ginger   • 5. 3-4tbsp ghee  • 6. 1/2 tap jeera  • 7. 1tbsp gandrain ( pahadi herb, optional, you can also go for hing)  • 8. 2 tomatoes, finely chopped   9. Spice mix- 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1tbsp kashmiri laal mirch, 1// tsp turmeric powder, and salt as per taste.  *Instructions*  • 1. Wash both the lentils properly   • 2. Now, In a pressure cooker, add thr washed lentils, ginger garlic paste, 1-2 tbsp of ghee & one litre of water.  • 3. Cook on high flame until the first whistle and let it simmer for next 20-30 minutes (the long it cooks the better it taste)  • 4. In a kad

PAHADI CUISINE-Bhat ki daal

Ingredients*
 • * 1 cup Black beans 
 • * 1 Onion , finely chopped
 • * 4 cloves Garlic , finely chopped
 • * 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds 
 • * 1/4 cup chickpea Flour ( you can also use whole wheat flour)
 • * 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder 
 • * 2 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
 • * 2 teaspoon Coriander Powder
 • * 2 teaspoon
 • * Salt , to taste
 • * 4 tbsp of mustard oil
 • * 1 tablespoon ghee

* 4 to 5 dried red chillies 

*Instructions*
 • 1. Take an iron kadai ( as traditional Uttarakhand dishes are prepared on iron utensils), if you don't have it, just replace it with a normal kadai :)
 • 2. Add 3 to 4 tbsp of mustard oil, once it is hot enough, deep fry those dried red chillies until they are black and crispy. (They go well as a side with almo
