Fluffy Cat Photographer and Some Stenciling for Stamping Sensations Mid Month

Hello and welcome! It's the 18th of the month and that means it's time for some midmonth inspiration at the Stamping Sensations challenge blog where this month our theme is "I Love....". Still plenty of time to join us for a chance to win a wonderful Penny Black prize.

And here is what I made:

If you've been following my blog for some time then you know that I love cats, not only my real life critters but also Penny Black's cat stamps :-) This one is called "Snap Shot". I also love stenciling, my DSLR camera and hobby photography (I'm a novice, I just enjoy doing it), as well as my new butterflies die set

I started out by stenciling the design on Bristol Vellum paper using my Penny Black Hypnotic stencil. The cat was stamped on Canson Montval paper then watercolored using my Zig Clean Color brush pens and Zig Detailer watercolor brush (which btw. I both also love) I fussy cut this and then glued onto the stenciled card front. I didn't bother fussy cutting around the bird and whiskers, instead I simply stamped the image directly onto the card front first.

I cut a line of grass using an inked piece of card stock and my scissors. The quote was typed on the computer and printed out. Butterflies were done with my new favorite butterfly die set Soaring by Penny Black.

Thanks so much for visiting! Remember you can still join us until the end of April and up to 3 times with a different creation.

Poppies and a French Script - Some of the Things I Love

It's the first Sunday of a new month and that means we  have a new challenge at Stamping Sensations. This month our theme is "I Love..." and you fill in the blank by showing us on your card or other crafty makes. Hope you will join us as we have 3 wonderful prizes kindly donated by Penny Black.

There are many things I love, today I am sharing that I love Penny Black stamps, Poppies and my very old French Script stamp which I do seem to use all the time (and I still have no clue what exactly the words are!!)

This gorgeous poppy (Brilliant) is from Penny Black's newest release and I just had to have it. Not that I needed another poppy stamp but they are such pretty flowers and I just love the art style of this one. It is rather large, this is an A2 sized card and I even trimmed some of the bottom off to make it fit.

The background was done with Distress inks with a circle die cut as a mask for a moon (or bright sun). Next I stamped the image onto my new Canson Montval watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx ink then colored with Zig Clean Color markers. The blossoms were stamped a second time on the same type of paper and fussy cut after coloring. I decided to add a little more color to the blossoms so I used some Faber Castell Polychromos  pencils as well.

My French Script stamp is a very old background stamp from Stampin Up. I've unmounted it a long time ago as it's so much easier to use randomly on a card like I did here. I do love my wood mounted stamps and won't ever unmount most of those, but with a background stamp of this size it makes sense. The sentiment is one from another favorite set of mine, Penny Black's Snippet. A strip of dotted paper in black and white finishes off the card.

And below is a peek at our prizes. You have all month long to join us and remember you may enter up to 3 times with a different creation. As we are a stamping challenge stamping (traditional or digital) does need to be the focal point. Hope to see you there!

Bunches of Daffodils Especially for You

Hello and welcome!

Time surely flies, hard to believe it's the 18th of March already, and that means it's time for some more inspiration at Stamping Sensations! The challenge runs until the end of the month so plenty of time still to join us for our "Stamp Something for Spring" theme to be entered into the prize drawing. Remember you may enter up to 3 times with a different creation for more chances to win.

And here is what I made using a Penny Black cutie.

Unfortunately this stamp is hard to find now, maybe occasionally on eBay or Etsy. It's called "You are the Bestest". I love it but feel like most of my cards made with this stamp turn out similar. In fact, I just did a search on my blog for this stamp, and each time I ended up coloring the cat gray!! (It does remind me a lot of my fluffy gray Fussy.) At least I don't think I've used a stencil with it before... Next time I will have to remember to make the cat a "ginger" like my Thomas :-)

It's been stamped onto Bristol Vellum paper using Versafine Onyx ink and then colored with Zig Clean Color brush pens and a Zig Detailer watercolor brush. A TCW stencil was used on the background with distress inks and matching the hexagons on the stencil I cut out the bee using a hexagon die I had for a long time  from Whimsy Stamps and no longer available but there may be some options here. A stripes stencil was used to make some striped paperand I adhered this before adding the bee and sentiment. A Wink of Stella glitter brush was used on the bee's wings for a touch of sparkle.

Magnolia Blossoms for Stamping Sensations Spring Challenge

Hello and welcome!

It's the first Sunday of the month and that means it's the start of a new challenge at Stamping Sensations. We have a nice and easy theme again this month, Stamp Something for Spring. And if you need some more inspiration, you can use Brenda's pretty photo collage below to get you started.

We have a really nice mixed media bundle made up of things from Oakwood Archer and then there will be a second prize of some pretty silhouette stamps for a second winner.

Here is Brenda's inspiration piece if you need some help to get you started for spring crafting:

I took inspiration from the beautiful Magnolia blossoms and used my Magnolia stamp from Penny Black - The Unfolding -  to make my card. It is one released a few years back so it's not as widely available anymore but one of my favorite brushstroke stamps.

Using a stamp platform I inked up the blossom with various Distress inks. Originally I wanted a more pastel flower (and card) but my Spun Sugar ink barely showed up so I kept adding more inks and this is the end result. Then I used the brick background stamp from Penny Black around the blossoms stamped with Vintage Photo ink. The postmark/butterfly on the bottom right and script stamping on the top are part of Penny Black's Gathering Together stamp, also stamped with Vintage Photo ink.

The sentiment from Penny Black's set Blooming Sentiments was stamped directly onto the card using Versafine Onyx ink. Thought the bottom of the card needed something black as well so I used an old cross stitch stamp along the bottom border to complete the card.

Before adhering to the card base I inked the edges with green distress inks.

Here is a peek at our wonderful prizes for this month. To play along for your chance to win be sure to link up your new springtime creation at Stamping Sensations. As the name suggests, we are a stamping challenge so stamping does need to be the focal point of the card.

Bunny Tail and a Feathered Friend with a Note to Say Hello

Happy Friday!

Did you get a chance yet to join us this month at Stamping Sensations? Plenty of time still left to do so and we always welcome up to 3 different creations so hope to see you there!! Our prize is a wonderful bundle of Uniko stamp sets. Our theme is simply Anything Goes with option of Wings or Tails.

I've used both wings and tails on my card today. I found my inspiration in my box of scraps where this cute image had already been previously colored and fussy cut so all I had to do was come up with a card design.

This cute stamp is Penny Black's Sweet Talk.  I have it as the wood mounted version but it's available now as part of this clear stamp set, possible at a little bit smaller scale.

I stamped the grass from Penny Black's set Enjoy Life using Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink (stamped off once on scrap paper for a lighter shade). Then added a die cut border which I inked with Vintage Photo distress ink and used part of Penny Black's Oscillations stencil. My die is an oldie from Whimsy Stamps but this border die set would be a similar option and includes several dies.

More Hillside Die Options:

The sentiment is another oldie from Whimsy stamps, part of a ticket sentiment set (I used it by itself without the ticket or matching die). Not the same but similar to this set and looks like there is a matching die set too, just mine is to be used vertically instead of horizontal. I layered a couple different pieces of pattern papers under the sentiment, used a stapler and then tied a jute twine bow onto the staple. I love May Arts Natural Jute Twine. You can get it on a large roll here.

Ticket sentiment option below:

Don't forget to check out what my teamies made for the midway reminder post :)

Easy Stenciled Background For a Handmade Card: Fairy Wings and Happy Wishes

The first seven days of the month are always the busiest here on the blog and I am back already with another new card :0)

It's the first Sunday, so today is the start of a new challenge at Stamping Sensations, a nice and easy theme of  "Anything Goes with the Option of Wings".  We have some beautiful Uniko stamps to give away this time along with our  monthly Top Picks selection and a chance to be a guest designer for a future challenge!

It was a perfect opportunity to ink up one of my Lavinia fairies for this month's card.

I started with a stencil by Stampers Anonymous and Tumbled Glass and Picked Raspberry Distress inks which I blended using these blending brushes. Next I stamped the fairy Grace and hare Pipin using Versafine Onyx ink. After making sure the black ink was completely dry, I took two different sized die cut circles and used as masks, then inked inked around the circle masks using Picked Raspberry ink.

If you are new to larger silhouette stamps like the Lavinia fairies, I do recommend using a stamp positioner (for example the Mini Misti) so you can repeat stamp to get a solid image.

Products Used:

I used a white Posca pen and some diluted Wilted Violet ink to add ink spatter onto the card. The sentiment is from the Penny Black set Happy Wishes, stamped using Versafine Onyx ink.

The script on the background was done with an old stamp from Just for Fun Rubberstamps (no longer in business).

I also used:

My design was inspired by a Lavinia card I had seen on Pinterest, which led me to a YouTube video by Eileen Godwin. She used different Lavinia stamps and stencils but the design is similar. And I had so much fun creating this card!

Thanks so much for visiting! Hope to see you joining us at Stamping Sensations! The challenge does run until the end of the month so plenty of time to play along!

Squirrel Hugs, Pinecones and Winter

Hello and welcome!

It's time for some midmonth inspiration at Stamping Sensations challenge, still plenty of time left to join us if you haven't already and we always welcome up to 3 entries so hope you'll share your creativity with us! Our theme for January is "Stamping with option of Use a Die". As a reminder our winner will receive a prize package from  Oakwood Archer

And here is what I made:

For my card I've taken inspiration from a challenge blog I recently discovered, the Four Season's challenge where there is always a pretty mood board given as an optional inspiration and my card was inspired by one of the pictures. I'm sure you can guess which one :-)

Aren't these all wonderful! I actually thought about using the bottom right and then bottom left first, but then decided that my cute squirrel stamp needed an outing :-)

I started out by stamping Penny Black's Brush Pines using Distress Oxide inks Gathered Twigs and Iced Spruce. My stamp platform (options) always comes in handy with these brushstroke stamps.

Next I stamped the squirrels from Penny Black set Share a Hug. Using Walnut Stain ink for stamping and colored using Vintage Photo ink, then fussy cut.

I wasn't really "thinking" when I added some vintage photo ink spatters, but then decided the card could use some snowflakes so I added more ink spatters using my new Posca pen.  But I do like how the mix of white and brown spatter turned out.

Related Love Themed Products:

For the sentiment I used a "love" die, an oldie which I think is from Whimsy Stamps  and the snowflake die cuts were done with Penny Black's Dancing Snowflakes die set, which I just purchased at the end of last year.

Before adhering the card front to the base, I inked the edges with Iced Spruce Oxide ink using my new blending brushes for a soft look.

Colorado Craft Mouse with a Die for Stamping Sensations and December Card Chain Challenge Reveal Day

Hello and welcome!

Today's post is a two-in-one, hopefully I'll manage to keep the post from getting too long as I am sharing two cards I made, and a third I received.

It's the first Sunday of a new month and that means a new challenge starts at Stamping Sensations, and since it's the second of the month it also means time for Reveal Day for the December Card Cain Challenge which I had joined in again last month!

So first up is my card for Stamping Sensations where we're starting the year off with an easy theme of "Stamping with Option to Include a Die". Our prize this month is a £25 prize package from Oakwood Archer. Hope you will join us for your chance to win!

So last year I discovered a line of stamps by Anita Jeram from Colorado Craft Company.

I did wait for quite some time before I purchased any, but then found them at a really great price and free shipping through this Amazon seller and it was hard to resist that free shipping!!

This stamp set is called Big Love (also available at scrapbook.com and direct from Colorado Craft). It comes with this gorgeous - super cute - image and several sentiments, including the one I used on this card. There is also a matching die available but I rarely get matching dies for sets and instead fussy cut using my Cutterbee scissors.

Colored with Distress inks and a Zig Detailer watercolor brush before fussy cutting.
I also finally got the Avery Elle Star Frame die I've had on my wish list for some time and used it on today's card.

The stencil is by TCW Circle Explosion

As mentioned, today is also reveal day for the December Card Chain Challenge - a world wide card exchange where we send one card and receive one card. By the way, if you are a card maker and would like to join in the January card exchange, you can read all the details HERE and sign up there as well.

My December card went to Tina in Slovenia. I do so hope that my card arrived on time as I haven't heard anything from Tina. It was mailed in the first week of December.

At Card Chain Challenge we are always given a choice of "challenges". For December we had a fun "Tic Tac Toe" type grid and I selected the last row.

Gold, Glitter, Bird, Stamp and Red. I did use some other colors in addition to just gold and red for coloring.

The image is from Penny Black - Birdhouse Blessings, heat embossed using Versafine Onyx ink and detail clear embossing powder. Coloring was done with Distress inks and Stampin Up re-inkers.

The script border I used on the bottom portion is from Whimsy Stamps (retired) and the mini sentiment is from Penny Black's set Holiday Snippets. The tag die is fromWhimsy (also retired) but there are lot of similar tag sets available, like this set

Patterned paper is from my stash and I tied some gold cord around the card to finish it off. Oh, and some stickles glitter was applied to the star and snow on the bird house.

Below is a photo of the cute and beautiful card I received from my sender, Pia from Norway
I LOVE these colors for Christmas and how cute are the Santas? A really fun mini slimline card!! Thank you, Pia!

PS: I know I just mentioned this in yesterday's post, but there is still time to join our mini hop and/or share your own "2021 Year in Review" post so I am writing another reminder for those of you who didn't see yesterday's post.
