How can creativity be a vehicle to activate new dimensions of spatial experience, and thereby of reality?
The practitioners contributing to this inquiry have explored a range of mediums – including (as shown on this page) performance, sonic intervention, architectural insertions and deletions – to reshape how people occupy, interact and identify with space.
The image above is of Megumi Matsubara and Otieno Kota collaborating on STRA | 2011, a project that roused unexpected narratives of urban landscape in the Kibera district of Nairobi. An artist and also a practicing architect, Matsubara works across a range of mediums to create spatial compositions that reveal new facets of specific environmental conditions, heightening awareness and enabling new forms of participation.
