Happy Thanksgiving--Sparkle & Shine Challenge

November 15, 2015

It's time for a new challenge at Sparkle & Shine!  We are excited you are here and hope that are inspired! For this challenge, please use the photo inspiration below when creating your projects. You can create in any way that you like as long as we can see the inspiration in your design.

For this challenge we are sponsored by the amazing Winnie & Walter! Their shop contains amazing stamp sets, matching dies and digital images! The winner of our challenge with received a $25 gift card to their online store!

My card is created using Tangelo Twist card stock for the base.  (5 1/4 X 4 1/4)  The next layer is created on watercolor paper.  I used Gathered Twigs and Hickory Smoke Distress inks to create the background color. Then, I ran it through the Big Shot with the chevron embossing folder.  The leaves and twigs were created by coloring watercolor paper in Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Gathered Twigs Distress inks.  I used the leaves and twig dies from the set "Twig Wreath" from Papertrey Inks and cut each one individually to fill in the wreath.  It was labor intensive, but worth the work.  I love the way it turned out.

The Winnie and Walter "The Big, The Bold, The Extras" stamp set was used to create the banner,  "Teeny Tiny Wishes" Stamp set from Stampin' Up! was used for the sentiment.  I found a piece of twine in my stash and added it to the bottom of the wreath.  Sparkling clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh were added for sparkle.  Wink of Stella was added on the wreath for shine.

I hope you are able to join us in this challenge. Check out all of the beautiful cards from the design team on the blog here!

Please leave a comment if you have any questions or thoughts on my card. I love reading your comments. As always, the products used will be listed and linked below.

Hugs,

Claire

Sending Many Thanks--PPA 269 and Cards In Envy

November 1, 2015

Lots of changes today.  New month, new time  and the days are getting shorter.  I always have a difficult time adjusting to it getting dark at 4:30 in the afternoon.  I feel like it is time to put on your pj's!  LOL!

It's Sunday, and I am the hostess for The Paper Players challenge this week.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  It reminds me of my Daddy.  He always loved this special day to spend with family and enjoy delicious foods all day.  I decided I wanted the theme to be "Fall Thank You" projects.  We all have so many things to be thankful for.  I thought it would be special to take time to write a special note to someone you want to express those feelings to.  I am also entering my card in the Cards In Envy Challenge.  Their theme is Gratitude this week.

My card is designed for my Mommy.  She loves these gorgeous fall colors and I wanted to thank her for all she has done for me.  I started with an Early Expresso card base.  All the patterns on this card are from a Carta Bella paper pack called "Fall Blessings.  This card was very easy to make.  I used the Vintage Leaves dies from Stampin' Up and cut three leaves with the DSP.  I also cut a tag using "Tag, You're It" from Lawn Fawn to cut the tag that is under the leaves.  I made a small bow using Linen thread and added a button.  Glue dots were used to attach both of these.  I heat embossed the sentiment using Vintage Versa Fine ink and clear embossing powder.  The sentiment is from a retired Stampin Up! set (Petite Pairs).

So happy you stopped by my blog today!  Please leave a message!  I love to hear from you!

Nature Gives To Every Season A Beauty All It's Own--PP267

October 19, 2015

It's Sunday and time for a new challenge at The Paper Players!  The multi-talented Nance, is our lovely hostess this week and she wants us to create a "Clean and Simple" card using leaves!  Fall's beautiful array of colors are magnificent and we can't wait to see what you create!

My base card is white.  I cut the top layer with the SugarPea Designs--Zig Zag Design Dies using watercolor paper.  The Vintage Leaves-Stampin' Up! stamp set was used.  I masked some of the leaves when I changed colors to add dimension.

The sentiment is from Verve Stamp--Every Season Plain Jane.  I stamped it in vintage Versa Fine Ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I absolutely love this sentiment!  I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp from Stampin' Up to add some grunge. This card was very easy to make, but I think it speaks volumes.  Clean and Simple is always difficult for me, but I am happy with the outcome.

So happy you stopped by my blog today!  Please leave a message!  I love to hear from you!
