You're Fabulous

Hello Friends!

I am posting my card for the IC this weekend over on SCS.  The website is an Etsy Shop called "Jennspendants".  I spotted it while on a search for some jewelry supplies and really became inspired by all the wonderful images the owner uses in her jewelry pieces.

I chose this dragon necklace as my inspiration for the gorgeous colors.  Such a pretty piece!!

I started by stamping my Hero Arts flower image with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored in the petals with Copics.  I dressed up the center a bit with some SU Silver Dazzling Diamonds and then cut the whole image out.

Next I created my sentiment using a partial sentiment from Hero Arts "Essential Messages".  I stamped it with Versamark and used this awesome EP I recently picked up at a LSS.  It's called "WOW Ultra High" and it's like UTEE only in colored EP.  Fabulous stuff!! (You have to find the "Ultra High" style.)

Next I layered some white CS and gray DP onto my card base and doodled a lined frame around it.  I adhered the cut out flower and my sentiment piece that I trimmed to look like a banner.

Have a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend Everyone!!

TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!

Teal Black and White!

Hello Friends,

I'm posting this card for the Inspiration Challenge this weekend on SCS that I'm hosting.  The website I chose is called "My Deco" and it is a collection of boutique items from all around the world!

The inspiration piece I chose is this "Corsica Tablecloth".  I loved the colors and contrast of the teal, white and black.

For the background of my card, I started by stamping flowers from SU's Stippled Blossoms set in black Memento Ink.  I then added white crayon to random areas that I wanted to remain white. (The crayon acted as a resist to the ink in the next step.)  I then added sponged on Tim Holtz "Broken China" distress ink all over with a felt applicator.

I die cut a Cheery Lynn Designs "Doily Dies" frame and adhered it to my background. I then added a couple of paper roses I had already made (Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms) to the lower right corner of the frame.

Next  die cut two of the butterflies from the "Exotic Butterfly" dies set by Cheery Lynne.  I temporarily positioned them inside the frame to figure out where I was going to put my sentiment.  Once I figured that out, I set the butterflies aside and gold embossed my sentiment from "Perfectly Penned" by SU inside the frame.

Finally, I permanently adhered the butterflies back onto the card, added some Ranger Platinum stickles and Jolees jewels for a little glam.  And here's the result...

Watercolored Poppies

Hi Everyone,

Hope this is a very blessed Easter weekend for all of you!

I made this card for the Inspiration Challenge this weekend -- I'm hosting (here) and I hope you'll join me!   I chose the website "Eglantyne Shop" which I don't have a clue what that means, everything is in Chinese Script.  I just know that I love everything on it!!  I could easily make a dozen cards inspired from this webstore!

I chose This ローズモチーフ・シルクボックス Item from the "New" section as my inspiration.  Translated it means "Rose Silk Box."  I think.  Anyhow, I was inspired by the print, the softness and the colors.  And I love all things Victorian.  So it was an easy choice!

I started with a textured panel of Blush Blossom cardstock and very lightly rubbed Groovy Guava ink over the raised texture to bring out the pattern just a bit.  I then heat embossed the "Watercolor Poppies" image from Rubbernecker in white EP.  I colored in the poppies with my "Watercolor Wonder" crayons, referencing my inspiration piece, then used a Sizzix EF to create the textured border.  I added a bracket of bling from "Want to Scrap" across the top of the panel to balance the placement of the image.  I adhered the finished panel to creme colored cardstock base.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

More Love Fest Cards

Hi Everyone,

I've been making cards for the Love Fest Challenges on SCS again this weekend.  I'm also incorporating a few other cyber challenges along the way, so below are the cards I've created for all of them today.

The first one above is for the "Die Crazy" Simon Says Stamp challenge and this week's IC.  The webstore for the IC is "Designs by Lucinda".  How could I not participate in that challenge when my MOM'S name is Lucinda!!  How fun!!

I used three dies on this card: "Absolutely" by Simon Says, A Sunburst from Lil Inker Designs (I love the way the die creates little perforations around the edges!), and a Cuttlebug trees die (one of those older silver-toned squares).

The paper is "Earth Love" by Cosmo Criket and the sentiment is the coordinating stamp set from Simon Says that goes with the "Absolutely" die.  I free hand cut the banner.  To cut the "hills", I used my fun new Kiwi Lane Design "Sentiments" template set that I won from the Scrapbook Expo yesterday!  (It's so much more fun to  "win" a new toy!)

This next card is for the Inspiration Challenge hosted by the Cats Pajamas.  I always have a hard time with the gray/yellow color pallet that was in the inspiration piece, but I gave it a shot anyways since I had some new stamps to play with (again from yesterday's Scrapbook Expo)!  All the stamps used on this card are by Rubbernecker.  The flowers are "Poppy Layers", the background is "Victorian Lace" and the the sentiment is "Easter Blessings."

I stamped my background, the images and sentiment onto white CS, die cut the shape then mounted it onto a gray panel. I added some jewel bling just to balance it out, but overall, left it pretty simple. The die I used is from SU Labels Collection.

This card is for three challenges.  The "Make My Day" Lovefest Challenge hosted by MFT; the current "Case Study #129" Challenge; and the current "Basic Grey Challenge #88" which is "Anything Goes" but you must use a Basic Grey product.  I used "Perhaps" DP.

The sentiment is from Crafty Secrets (I think the set is called "A Couple of Cuties") and I used some scalloped Peel Offs lines, a dove charm and some HL gold flowers to embellish the card.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my work!!

Valentine Birds

Hi Everyone,

I'm hosting the IC this weekend and for the inspiration website, I found an awesome webstore called "An Angel at My Table".  Very charming, vintage style items that I just loved!  I decided to make a Valentine for my parents.

I chose this gorgeous "St. Lucia White Bird Cage" as my inspiration piece.  ("Lucia" is my sister's name - how appropriate, right?!)   For my card, I started by punching the bottom border with a MS "Garden Trellis" Deep Edge border punch and embossing the floral "frame" right above it with a Sizzix EF.  I die cut a white Tim Holtz bird and birdcage using the Movers and Shapers dies.  I pulled out the "old reliable"  SU! Watercolor Minis" to create the stamped roses in the background.  Then I punched a smaller pink bird using a MS punch, and sponged a little bit of Crumb Cake ink onto all 3 of the punched pieces.  I adhered the cage and the birds to my card and stamped a SU! Valentine sentiment that says "Valentine Be Mine."  I raised the "V" in the word Valentine and the white bird with some dimensional tape pieces.

The finishing touches were Star Dust Stickles on the roses, gold gems on the bird's eye and the top of the bird cage, and a Peel-Offs gold sticker chain connected to the top of the cage.

Here's the final product!

Inspiring!

Hello Friends,

If you're needing inspiration, I have a wonderful website today to share with you!  I found so much inspiration there, I decided to keep it bookmarked on my Internet Tabs so I can access it regularly.

The website is Layla Grayce, which I found while looking for a website to use as I host the Inspiration Challenge this week.

The card I'm posting for the challenge is inspired by this Swirl Brooch Photo Album.  I just love the neutral tones, the accordion folded ribbon treatment and the coordinating bling.  "LOVE"!

For this card, I used ivory cardstock from the ATD "Pure" Textured Cardstock collection (found at Michaels).  The paper comes textured with little flowers so it saved a step in my card making process!

I embossed my sentiment with gold EP onto a panel of the ivory CS.  The sentiment is from Fiskars Lasting Love Quotes set.  I scattered some jewels onto the panel and rounded the corners.

To make the accordion-folded focal piece, I scored a 4" x 4" piece of the ivory CS every 1/4", then I accordion-folded it to mimic the cinched ribbon on the album.  I squeezed it tightly in the center so it would fan out on either end, then attached a gold colored medallion with a lattice brad to the center to keep the cinch in place.  I attached my finished accordion piece to the panel with tacky glue.

Finally, I adhered the completed panel to the card base with dimensional tape strips.

Now go check out Layla Grayce!  See what inspiration you can find there!!

What Is It???

So I'm hosting the IC again this weekend, and I had a website all picked out... card made and everything.  Turns out the website I picked out was already used for the Challenge awhile back!!  ACK!!  Panic!  So I quickly went on a search for another.

My 24th wedding anniversary [to the most awesome amazing wonderful husband on the planet ever] is coming up on Dec. 31, so I wanted something kind of romantically inspiring so I could make him a card.  That's how I found "Wedding Bells" dot com.  A very cool website with everything wedding and romantic.

As I browsed the very cool romantic website, I came across some hand fans.  GASP!!  Do you know I'm obsessed with Fan Fold everything??  (Probably not -- because I haven't yet posted all my Christmas stuff.)  But take my word for it, I AM.  Obsessed.  Period.  The end, no further explanation can make it clearer.

So my inspiration is this "D.I.Y. Accordian Paper Hand Fan".  I love this.  I love the blue and white.  I had to embellish and punch my final product, but it was this item that inspired my creation.  My creation that I don't know what it is -- but it's blue and it's white and it's a fan.  There.  I said it.  I have no idea what this thing is that I made.  It's not a card.  It's not a fan.  It's not an ornament.  It is just inspired.  Don't judge.  :)   I love making these fan things.  What can I say.

And here is how I made what ever it is I made ....

I cut a 3-1/2"x12" strip of DP.  Added some ink shading to the paper strip using Tim Holts' Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

Then I scored it every half inch, and punched it with my newest and most fabulous MS border punch.   I folded up my paper strip so it was flat and ready to use.

Next, I marked a tongue depressor stick at the half-way point (3"), glued up part of the stick, and laid my folded paper strip onto the stick at the half-way point.  I let it set for about 30 seconds before continuing.

I then unfolded my paper strip and "opened" all the way until the other end was setting on the other half of the wooden stick.

This is how it looked open, after the glue set (about 30-40 seconds).

Next I die cut two different sizes of round Dollie-style circles from Spellbinders "Blossom Tags and Accents" set.  I stamped the smallest one using SU "Think Happy Thoughts" stamp.

I attached the two Spellbinder "doilies" circles to the wooden stick, and folded them under the stick.

Adhered a white Recollections "Floral Embellishment" flower to the center to finish it off.

Whatever "it" is...

So there you have it.  But I have no anniversary card.  Rats.  Off to do more creating... :)

Many thanks for stopping by!!  Have a wonderful New Year!!  Please be SAFE everyone!!
