My Gnome

He´s here on our balcony, my gnome , I kissed him (well, not really, that´s maybe why he´s still a King Frog?).

But I now learned the saying, 'home is where your gnome is', thank you, Grace :-)

Just a short one for today!
When we lived in Karlstrasse I dreamed he hopped into my car and went to work with me!!! I worked 5th floor (for real) and never took that old lift, guess...takes a while with a fella like that!
In my dream I also made sure he buckles up...
Heck. I am German ;-)

No Lion today, he´d be afraid ;-)

Addendum. We´re married 6 years today and together all in all 25 years (that makes more than half the time I´m on earth!)!
Seesh, getting old, YAY :-)
(FIL: "You can get old or you die" - I want to get old - with Ingo!).

Kitsch-Alarm

Weeeee.... tastes are different, luckily.
Passed this.

Oh, help ;-)

I won´t call it a horror show, but...

Oh, my.
A tad spooky, no?

Lion of the day:

A tad too much kitsch for my liking, how about you?

The (Sadly Procrastinating) Person

Paper.

I hate paper, as in stuff (I love creative paper).
Taxes.

I have "my guy" there at the tax office, he is a young Dad and very nice, gave me two weeks to correct something, admitted their software is crap and there is... PAPER... I can take to fill out if I don´t want to start ALL OVER with that darn software (I´m from IT, just to add).

I had till Friday, 21st.
Took the darn paper on Thurstday, 20th.
WHAAAAT????? Just what IS this? Is this even German????
On #23 they refer to #50, how can that be???? Help!

I did one sheet. Then really had enough.
Friday morno I had to finish, I was nearly in tears ;-)
Oh, holy crap!!!

Was there with all the stuff I could find added (and scanned before) in time - and... my guy was not there!!!! A woman who did not look pleased at all instead!

Weee.

3 times before I´d asked at the info where to go, each time, after looking up the friendly lady said, room #3, you don´t have to take a ticket, just knock (don´t ask me why, I didn´t dare to, either).

So, this time into the hall I went straight and a young couple asked if I was for that room, and that they are, too.
They said it in a friendly way :-)

It was their turn, whilst waiting a guy came up, story repeated.
I said, "actually I just wanna put this in" and we started a lille chat (hey, social skills come out here, finally!)!
Guess he was from India but spoke German without an accent.

So. My turn. Uh-oh. The lady really was in a "not-so good" mood.
And certainly I missed a point.
I said that I´m sorry and it´s difficult for me, everything added, no need to copy.

A lille better.

(Huh? I come to this in a sec)

"Nice to have an apartment to rent", she murmured.

I answered, "I inherited and would rather have my Mum".

She paused, looked me in the eye, gave me a crooked smile and... helped.

Bet it´s still not fully OK and they will come back to me, but, what the heck.
Nice people and I´m off the hook for now.

How about you, can you read and write (I do) - and can you handle those official papers? I can not.

Ingo told me one man once said, doing your taxes should fit on a beer coaster.

That was a wise, yet very sadly unsuccessful man!

Why we have those hooks?

Ingo made a mobile with those!

If you´re interested, here´s the Christmas story behind the picture :-)

Lion of the day:

You can never look inside a person´s head.
Do you procrastinate in certain things, too?
Do you change your behaviour like this woman did when someone makes a point?

To most of you today is thanks. Help each other and give thanks - and have yum :-)
Happy Thanksgiving!

Did YOU????

I´m really kinda sad my Nieces don´t live here!
This is a sign for a theatre piece, "About the little mole, that wanted to know, who 'did' [poo-poo] on his head".

I would´ve loved to go with them, bet it was informative and funny!

And yes. The mole is not wearing a hat, it´s poop... (poo(r guy)).

This is for Tom´s "Signs 2".

I do believe the mole was thankful to find out who pooped on his head, or at least to find new friends this way (just to resume Tom´s subject a bit, LOL).
Well he pooped back in the "end" but I read the story goes on...

Lion of the day, hence:

Wasn´t him! Nor the bunny!

T Stands For MeTTwurst

These pics are (part one) of our Mummegenussmeile 2019, the real one.

Does this count as art, too? It´s a beautiful, arty, old caroussel.
(And no, I didn´t get a ride ;-)...)

But maybe these had!

I guess the man left and the woman after 45 seconds changed position, I can´t remember, more than 20 years have gone by...

Some of you suggested I resume figure drawing.
Hm. Unless you want to see Ingo naked or me trying to sneak into uni as a student (likely no success)...
One evening for €195,00 is a tad too much for my liking!

We went for the bees!

I´m not into sweet stuff, but Ingo is:

Sweet, local times ahead!

Certainly we had something to drink, too!
Mumme-Beer! What else!

This is for Elizabeth and Bleubeard´s "T Stands For Tuesday".

And here you have the Mumme-Lion of the day:

Ingo nibbled endlessly on the Mettwurst and I bought even more onion-bread and froze it.
Buy local! (links are in English).

School´s Out (Never :-)...)

Sorry, if I gave you an Ear worm...

The pupils of this school got creative :-)

What was your dream of your working life?

Life changes, all the time. New dreams, new goals.
Not like back then, these days you start all over again, all your life.

These "kids" think... aw, well, let them start, right.
Who knows what the future brings!

Did you or do you have your dream job?

Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals.

(The) Love Of My Life (Is Here)

Door bell... postie. "Are you Iris, Iris K.?"

Oh, boy, I waited three weeks for this! No possibility to get it to Packstation hence I was stuck at home!
Until Ingo was home to wait then (who certainly is the real love of my life!!).

Well. Brian May wrote this beauty of sad and wonderful words, they all made a piece of art from it that mostly Freddie and Brian created.

And just look:

A reporter once called Freddie "the leader of the band Queen", to which he replied he is not the leader but the lead-singer! And is put on "place #3" here, signature-wise.

From all the books (as in biographies), docus and snippets I understand that Freddie was very, very flamboyant, enigmatic on stage, but as a private man rather shy.

But always ... mostly... funny, clever, had the biggest heart.
A man who could laugh about himself and never took himself that important.

Maybe one of the first to openly at those times had his "wedding"-ring on, the one he got from his love of his life, Jon Hutton.

Who does not love a man like that.

Plus...

Just listen, a genius!

He often made his fans join the show, too!
He stole Live Aid :-)

The police had to come, even!!!!

And how he says thanks in the end, so sweet.

The most beautiful voice, from the highest tone to the lowest, he had the ability to give a four-octave vocal range!

Piano out-takes from another wonderful song:

And listen to his comments in this essay, so cute :-)

No "wreck", here is the finished "Product":

Working not only on the piano, did you know he created "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" in the bathtub in ten minutes and had the music then on the guitar?
(None of my favs, I´m really no fan of (don´t hate me) Elvis´ style - and how could I, being Emperor (by name)? Can´t be a King, must be the Queen! ;-)... ).

I smile every time I see this poster!

As when I see this Lion of the day, sitting at the heating:

Yes, a cutting board. Too good to be used!

A beauty, isn´t he (decide for yourself who is, I think it goes for both).

Freddie Mercury had to leave on this day 28 years ago.
Shortly after a kind of "cure" was available that could´ve helped him.
Who knows what beauty he might´ve brought to us...

He said:
“I won't be a rock star. I will be a legend.”

To you, Freddie, many, many miss you...

P.S. On explicit invitation... ;-).... despite what I said about a certain man here ... I join Tom´s Foto Tunes and maybe you "bare" with me .... I have a Mielebaer who says "Hi"!

The Eagle... Ummm... The Lion (!) Has Landed

Packstation gave me another hello!
Especially in these dark days that November gives us here in the Northern hemisphere it is beautiful to get surprises - not because it´s your Birthday, not because it´s Christmas but because someone just wants to say, "hey, for you! Just like that"!

This time it was from Valerie, and boy!!!
It was "a Lion", actually more than one, but one I always thought was a Braunschweig one as we buy this all the time (in tubes).

Sadly I didn´t have my cam at hand when I said that because this time Ingo did give me THE LOOK indeed!
On the glass it does not say "Düsseldorf", either, but certainly we always go for a taste-adventure ("Geschmacks-Abenteuer")!

I cannot tell you how often I went past this, doing laundry, getting bread...
This is right above the door to the green chamber!

In my defense... as said, we get it in tubes. And you can get it in a glass like that, too, but we do not have this beautiful pottery!!!

Laugh, cry or just get invisible? LOL.
It´s beautiful and whilst grinning in delight, passing the hall to the living room via sexy firemen and-women, I´ll have to grin doing laundry and stuff, now, too! :-)
Thank you, Valerie and Grace!

This was not all I found, though!
Valerie thinks, obviously, well, the Brother is an Optometrist, she must be able to find it all (felt like being on an Easter hunt :-) !)!

I give - also as Lion of the day a... well.

It´s a beautiful piece of art and my interpretation is: The cat died and came back as a bigger cat, a Lion!
You don´t think so?
Pin, a Lion for sure!
And no, I´m not stupid, I didn´t mess up with that little man there, either!
It´s the Düsseldorf's cartwheeler. Beautiful interpretations on this one, and... when did you do your last one? Mine is 40 years in the past!

Thanks to you, dear (online) friends, you made my days!
See You on T-day in two weeks for more!

Germany Is Rainy. And Sexy - Still Next Year, Too

I asked Ingo to look in disbelief, but he was too happy :-)

I complained a lot about our posties here, and rightfully, too.
They leave parcels on the street or in the hall.
So, parcels or anything larger than what fits into our small mailbox goes to Packstation.

The address goes by full name, the Packstation-ID, Packstation, city, country.
It belongs to DHL.

I gave this on "request" to our dear friend Grace.

Ingo: "Did you say it goes via DHL? If not, won´t work!" Weeee, did I feel bad and guilty, but couldn´t believe Ingo, I mean..., "certainly"!
Certainly it did work!

And you can imagine my look of surprise, too. Not, that it worked, but, WHAT?

Oh!!! The postie in Perth must´ve thought, "hmmm, Germany. Hmmm, November. RAIN!"
So, not only in brown paper but covered also in a plastic bag, I so had to laugh!
I´ve never seen that before!
Luckily no one saw me (or wouldn´t that have brightend your day? A woman, getting something out of Packstation, looking, laughing?).

So... what is this?

The first time I met sexy was 2017.

You want sexy? Here goes:

The Perth Firefighters, men and women, since 2008 stand up to create these sexy calendars, the money goes to Perth Children´s Hospital.

We certainly got one that hot day in 2017.
Last year I contacted the firefighters, asking if they can put one calendar on hold for us as we arrive only end of January.

This month, hence:

We then went to the hospital, it´s really beautiful. I asked the guide where to get the calendar - weeee. "April is my fav!!", she said, and showed me the shop full of stuffed animals.
I asked the lady at the counter, "ohhh, I looooove that calendar!", she went :-)

And I certainly tell, so when Grace found the firemen in the city she was not only so beautiful to get me one, but, noooo!

April 2020 will be my fav month, too - as Mr April was there and signed it - for me!!

Thank you so much, Grace!
Upon your hint it´ll be something we had before and liked it... hmmm. Won´t be a Grill´d burger, will it. Or a Jester´s pie (hopefully not, brrr ;-)...)
I really had NO idea.

I usually had all calendar sheets we have here, be it Pipi Longstocking, Perth or Perth Firefighters on Facebook, but kinda gave up and feel sorry now.
I´ll resume to the habit.

I mean. we are sexy and rainy, right!

Also, as said, women, here is one of them:

I also liked the lady on the letter, Grace :-)

Lion of the day... not on fire ;-)

It stands for "Freie Turnerschaft Braunschweig, gymnasts :-) We once "had to" watch a game of soccer with my then-then Teamleader on a Sunday there (we were the only ones responding positively he asked sponatously to show up).
Ingo sat with the back to the monitor, facing T - who thought it´s impolite to show disinterest to soccer so openly, but Ingo wanted to be polite to T, LOL.
We clearly prefer Firefighters upon soccer! :-)
