Signs Of Decay

The city announced they will tear down Burgpassage, a mini-shopping center.
I was sad.
All shops are closed, the building still there.

Can you imagine my shock coming from there and seeing...

There was a huge passage!!! All gone! A huge gap. You see the sky. The next building!
Reckon that´s the way life goes, huh.

BUT!
I have a great sign, too.
Ingo played postie again and came home with a postcard from dear Kathy
Thank you!

I dread summer passing by, having more decay with fall coming, yet I got this and found, ups, good thing, it must live in the bedroom cause by chance, somehow, I lost part of the feathers of mine, see:

I´ll hang it back and add the card - signs of friendship, what do you think?
Catch the good dreams for me - and Ingo! - and throw away the bad ones!

This is for Tom´s Signs2, of course.

You found me above, I still guard the old Welfenhof-place, let´s see what´ll be there next... Times are a changin'...

T Stands For Balcony Time!

Monday: Went to the bakery early cause I also wanted Pak Choi from NETTO (grocery with Monday-specials) - you can see the result here, if you like.
In front of the bakery there was a cute raven.
The baker-lady said (no surprise) - he is clever - he eats the cakes she puts out so the wasps don´t come in! (They come in, hence)

Colleague J was nice!!!

Later I had balcony-time, sketching, and WA was on TV in the evening.

Can you have a better start to a week (I have some ideas, but this was great, too).

Tuesday: Admin helped, J helped, F helped - sadly I am still the "Queen of click" - don´t guide me through (I each time shared my main monitor) and say words like "yes" or "now" - I will click!! How about you???
I learned so much.

Summer, balcony time, sketching... this summer is awesome.

Wednesday: Work and balcony-time - THE GOOD LIFE!

Thursday: Started work at 06:00 - 06:57 took off to REWE (grocery around the corner with self-checkout) - 12 people waiting already - they open at 07:00!
Germany is behind.
12 people at the cash-out with a cash-out-lady, waiting in line (again).
Me... only self-check-outer, boom - home 07:10, back at work   07:15. And no one sitting in my neck. DISTANCE, people, that´s the Corinna-key!

Good working as the peeps from Barcelona are on holiday - the whole plant is closed > no meetings, time to work!

Balcony-time, sketching, munching on the sweetest, best summer food.

Friday: Started work at 06:00 - 06:55 took off to EDEKA - grocery a bit farther away, but good for recycling.
Saw two Pantos and said hi (we have trams here, too, they are red, and I have so much to do with pantographs, I feel I should say hello 😘🚋 (the panto is the thing on top).

Later our proofreader again called me in despair.
It´s a never-ending story with that translation company. They are crap, except one man.

He said he´s sorry. In Latin - I thought that was Spanish (deepl thought so, too), he corrected me. Now I can not only order... 🍻 dos cervesas, por vavor, but also that I´m sorry in Spanish - I try to see the good in everything, right?

Weekend:  Saturday was overcast but sadly no rain.
Neighbors from the other garden LOUD, so I stayed indoors and Ingo brought me sweet, cooled melon to the PC.

Sunday was a lazy day again, Die Maus and enjoying SUMMER!

I certainly had this AFTER work!
Hmmmm... peach. The sweet life.

Food-wise you saw enough, huh.

Art-wise?

To another great week, Happy T-Day!

Round And Round We Go #4

Round And Round We Go #3

Higher and higher the ferris wheel went.
I am afraid of heights and needed a rest.
Ingo had a cam, too, but it was me taking pics!!!
If interested see here for part #2 and here for the murals we found there.

Also, if you wanna visit us - Ingo´s shirt has the coordinates.

Braunschweig was highly destroyed in WWII, so many buildings were put up asap to house people.
Not nice, but needed and practical.

We live in one that survived the war - sadly the fascade is grey. But our walls inside are full of color :-)

See:

Anyways...

Please... can you say, "hey, you braved up for real!"?

More to come I don´t wanna bore you to death (death came to my mind, being so high up in such a tiny thing).

Henry 🦁

How many Siblings did you find?

To braving up - and having new perspectives (and fun).

Round And Round We Go #2

As you can see here Ingo took me on a ride.
Yes, I AM afraid of heights, but I made it!
It starts harmless.
Here you can see where we brought our Australian wedding documents and for no charge got the German official entry!

That was some ride, too, the document-thing - and now I´m a "Documentation/Translation Manager", life is funny.

We had to see a lawyer here in Germany who gave an apostille that we are who we state to be, had to fill out forms, not been in jail, not married before etc, sent this to Perth as express mail, from there the certified lady after checking sent it to Canberra, they approved, it came back to Perth, we got married, it went back to Canberra, Australian apostille, back to Perth and then with us to Braunschweig. Phew.

No. As non-Australian citizen it is not easy to get married there.
But with the help of friends we got it done!

Thanks to P for taking over! And B for taking pics - and those who were there,  and signing, of course.

It´s not easy especially not spontaneous (we´d been together forever, this was to keep us financially safe in case one dies and so I said, "if I have to marry you, then in Perth" - flight and cabin were booked months ago).

Here lies Henry the Duke 🤴 - and his wife Mathilde. Henry the Lion 🦁 tried to get in there to be with his friend - the doors were guarded - you can still see where his claws hit. He could not get in, died of starvation and a broken heart (they say).

More to  come.

Henry 🦁

This, my friends, is the real Henry. Ingo took the pic as taller persons blocked my way.
The Henry you see on the place in front of the castle is but a copy (please, if you visit, never tell him, he thinks he´s the real one!).

This Henry had to move inside due to... pollution. How sad.
Second time he had to hide.
In WWII they took him to safety to an underground shelter near Goslar.

As his "sibling" he enjoys company, but here you can only visit on rare occasions.
He is showered with love then.

Remembrance

I have three calendars this year, two reminded me today of the start of the 1972 Summer Olympics.

It was not only the year I was born  - Ingo´s Brother was in the making and his Father... one of the police officers at scene.
Imagine that.
You are pregnant, your Hubby is there, September 5th the news announce "one police officer shot to death" and you have no contact.

Horrible!

They had no lethal weapons, just white batons - can you imagine that?!

I still have a FIL. It was not him. Some other unlucky officer...

FIL became a police officer in... guess.
Yes, Braunschweig.
He later became a commissioner and investigated at.. my Dad´s place in Seesen (a trainee was stealing and later FIL got her!)

Henry 🦁

Coincidences, huh. Scary at times.
It´s a small world.

FFO - Moooooo And Smile

As last Friday I joined Nicole´s  FFO not only with a carousel, but with a cow looking on I thought I continue with cow-faces - such pretty animals.

I sadly haven´t seen a real one in ages.

This one lives with us since at least 2008 - back then it hung on the kitchen wall:

On a CD-holder-piece... Ingo, huh. A lille MacGyver.
Sadly I have no crayon with the right red, can you believe that?!
Three brands and ... nada!

Not Mooo but booo on that!

And yes, our new kitchen wall is also red, but the cow now works as a book-holder (still with red):

Two things to smile about and joining
Friday Smiles:

The second sunflower is in full bloom!
If just a thought or wish - to end of war for Ukraine! 💙💛🌻

More to smile, not only is the driver a woman, but:

"First hydrogen train fleet in passenger service in summer"  - you can read more here.
It´s German but AI helps you, if you are interested.

I´m but an external, but it makes me kinda a wee bit proud to be part of the (whole) team.
My Alstom-teamleaders always say they make no difference between in- or external.

Oh, I SO hope the project lives on and they keep me!
As the Barcelona-team is on holiday there are near to no meetings and I got so much done yesterday, SMILE!
It´s tough work.
I´m called a Documentation-/ Translation Manager (aka girl for everything) and have 6 documents/programs (partially real huge ones) at once to update two of them - do not interrupt me, I need to really concentrate!
(See why I have three monitors? Not for bragging, I really need them...)
Yeah, and people e-mail and call me whenever they want. "Bravo" 😉

But all in all... I love this job and team.

Henry 🦁

I had more balcony-time yesterday and let´s see - rain is predicted, which I also love!!

I also joined River with Wednesday´s Words on a Friday, see here, if you like, two great pics involved (or just scroll down).
