I Missed It

Let´s go back to Perth for some signs, huh, some good, some very sad...
This is a good one.

These...

 You get directions....

This is in the very heart of the city...

It was so sad.
It is not just Braunschweig, Seesen (my hometown I visited last Friday and my Brother showed me around, so many stores closed down for good, I nearly cried).
Even famous Perth´s London Court... so many empty places...

But there are some that will always be there...

7 ELEVEN to me has some... village-y style. I like that!

And this...

I am "sad" I had Ingo with me, or.... rather the other way round, Ingo had me with him.
On my own I´d popped in!!!

Next time I´ll go!!!!
Ingo is always on the run, even on holidays.
And also... he is limited in what he can eat without ending up in hospital. And it sure is not funny to watch me enjoy new food he cannot have.
Next time....

This is for Tom´s Signs 2.

It´s a shame how so many stores had to close down, all the people without jobs.
Darn COVID turned us all into online-shopping-monsters. Though I try to buy local whenever I can.

Let´s hope toastface grillah makes it till we are back... Oh, my, I get all hungry 😉
Just put up a folder "perth2026" and put in the link to them in my to-do-list - just look at their menu!

T Stands For Bees

I only can have "kid´s-café", other my stomach flips. And isn´t this a literally cool glass?!
With this glass in a glass for people who cannot touch "hot" I join Elizabeth´s T again.

The journal:

Monday:  Job-wise I am at LinkedIn. I lady from a translation agency keeps contacting me, offering support. Today she ended with "Vielen danks". Hm, no, thank you, I think I don´t need that "service". It would be "Vielen Dank", no "s"... Oh, boy....
Bro called 🥰 2+ hours.

And of course:

Tuesday: Work, heavy rain and soooo tired.
fK reminded me to watch the video of our CEOs. Good thing she did. Despite things are not running well for our company and many are without a project they see better times and "no one will lose his job". I feel much better now (I see the end of the DB-project already).

TV-news: From 02:30 a.m. on in Hamburg people wait in line to get in to a Taylor Swift-concert.
Hello???? If I got it right it starts 10 p.m.today... Crazy.
Temps down to 18C/64F.

Docu on Polish pupils who, in their school-holidays, learn what soldiers learn.
Well. If Ukraine fails... Poland will be "ready". Can´t Pu#in just drop dead and we have peace again? And freedom?

Wednesday: Good work-day, yummy home-made pizza for lunch. It cooled down, sadly, and my feet hurt so much, walking pad was out of the question - doc has my brain-scan but is on holiday.
"Adventure Life" is a show I watch sometimes. Today they showed amongst other how to make different sorts of Italian noodles. When it came to the munchy-part they had Adriano Celentano as music - I always listen to him on the BOSE when I cook or bake 😁

No TV again - heavy rain, thunder and lightning threw TV out. Show by Mother Nature! So wonderful!
We opened the balcony-door, grabbed two chairs and enjoyed.
Movie: The Blind Side - love it.

Thursday: Over an hour chaos-meeting, then total stress, I was knocked out.
Yet I put on my CRABBS-t-shirt and we went to Jürgens Brauerei - and so lucky we did!!!

I said to Ingo: "So sad they don´t have honey-beer this year..." - but they had a Stout with coffee and chocolate.  Brewmaster P brought it to the table and Ingo asked - they did have honey-beer on tap (long gone) ... and have 8 bottles left, yippeeee and YUM - to bees! We took a six-pack, only two bottles were left. Pic next Bee... ummmm-.... T-Day!
P knows we go to Perth (and suburbs) on a "regular" basis and Ingo told him how fast BEEZNEEZ was sold out, too - he grinned big.

Friday: Step outside... rain, back inside to get a brolly and, tadaa... saw the tram take off without me.
Bus two minutes later and I was lucky it took the direct route to the train station, pure luck.
My SIL - 6 years younger than me. Ash-grey hair and wrinkles. Glad Bro´d warned me...
Little Niece is... more than just... double-chin and big belly. I don´t think this is good.

Bro (optometrist) tested my eyes. He is such a mean man!!!
Rows of letters getting smaller and smaller  - I really had a tough time, concentrated real hard.
What did he do? Switch to numbers!!! We had to laugh so hard!
It was so good to see him again! Maybe they visit Wednesday, it´s still school holidays.

Weekend: Saturday: Ingo got me rescue-flowers and made "Puffer" 0n the balcony. Soooo yummy.

There were but two bouquets of flowers left at REWE and they looked so sad, Ingo bought one...
We ate inside cause... either the machine or us on the table. TV.. guess...
Railway.

Sunday: Sleep in,Löwenzahn, Die Maus, nothing special.
Back in the day we´d hopped on the bikes and went out and about.
Ingo works in high temps and is exhausted and I work "under pressure".
But... a great life still, compared to what others had back in the day!

TV-docu: "In WWI the black wild ones now fight against even more primitive ones - the Germans".
Oh, HOW TRUE!!!
Darn it for being born German, really, but I had to laugh, bitterly, though...

Munchy:

More to come, Ingo has another toy ....  and then he is in 100%.

To a happy T-Day!

@ Hillarys - Final

A last time I take you to Hillary´s Boat Harbour from this March.

This week it is summer here in Germany  - result: My Brother and Nieces will not visit me on Wednesday but go swimming in their beloved place. Aw, well. Wish we all could go to Hillary´s... Let´s pretend!

From Peter again. Summer-fun!

Back In Time

This is still from the Mid-Century Cafe and Collectables, where Grace and P took us in our holidays in Perth.
Funny side-story, Dad taught me how to drive our BMW (gear car) when I was 14.
Mom took me to the tennis court and talked forever with other women.
I took  off in the car, came back, parking space was occupied, parked in the next one - my Dad sure was in trouble as I did not say a word to "who taught you to drive" etc, etc.

To a groovy Sunday...

 And another history-lesson?

"Memory Lane Moments
  ·
A FLASH BLACK MOMENT IN HISTORY:
In 1963, the photographer Richard Avedon took a picture of a man named William Casby.
William Casby, born in 1857, was 106 years old at the time.
In his hands, he was holding his great, great, granddaughter, Cherri Stamps McCray.
The image is amazing because the elderly gentleman holding his descendant so tenderly, was born into slavery more than a century prior.
Casby would eventually live until 1970, dying at the age of 113.
His great and great grandchildren are alive today, and many of them remember him.
It puts into perspective just how relatively recent slavery existed. Because as far away and distant as it may feel now. Even in modern-day America, there are people who have active memories of talking to former slaves.

Wow, huh, 106 years old and so alive and kicking! And making it to 113!

At age 42, I think, Estrus Crayton told me he´s an "old man" and after me staring a bit mad added, "for being a sports man"...

I am one year "younger" than he is and the orange Lions-jacket is size "S".
The  shirt I´m wearing says "Step by Step" - this man RUNS.
The fastest I´ve ever seen - and the cutest, too. Generous as well, giving a touch-down to a fellow player who had his 99th or 100th game and never had one.

Critter And History

My friend fK sent me another pic from her family in East Germany.

I have no other critter to share for...

... Eileen´s - so here is another little history lesson:

Memory Lane Moments
  ·
"History They Didn't Teach You In School
Scholars have left him out of the history books, and Hollywood couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge his existence either. He was Howard Hughes’ top engineer and lifelong best friend. This is about Frank Mann, the hidden genius behind much of Howard Hughes’ success in the world of aviation and mechanics. Frank Calvin Mann (November 22, 1908 – November 30, 1992) was an African American engineer who was known for his participation in many Howard Hughes's projects, including the Spruce Goose. He also starred in the Amos 'n' Andy radio show. Apparently, his lifelong friendship with Hughes was instrumental in opening doors for Mann's exceptional talents.
A native of Houston, Texas, Frank Calvin Mann's parents wanted him to become a schoolteacher, but from childhood, he had a natural ability to fix things. At age 11, he had his own mechanic shop. As a teenager, he worked alongside airplane mechanics, repairing engines. By the age of 20, he had designed and built several of his own Model-T cars. It was unheard of in the 1920s for a Black man to have anything to do with cars, trains, or airplanes. His life-long friend Howard Hughes was instrumental in opening doors for Mann's exceptional talents.
Mann attended the University of Minnesota and UCLA, where he earned a mechanical engineering degree. World War II equipment that revolutionized military weaponry would not exist if not for his involvement. Incredibly, few Americans are aware of Frank Mann. He was the first Black commercial pilot for American Airways. He was also a distinguished military officer. In 1935, following Italy’s invasion of Ethiopia, Frank Mann flew reconnaissance missions for the Ethiopian army.
He served in the World War II Army Air Corps and was the primary civilian instructor of the famous Tuskegee Airmen in 1941. He left Tuskegee after a rift with the U.S. government, which didn't want the Squadron, an all-Black unit, flying the same high caliber of airplanes as their White counterparts. An angry Mann had refused to have his men fly old "World War I biplane crates" because his airmen had proven themselves as equals.
Though they were being given inferior equipment and materials, their squadron never lost a plane, bomber, or pilot, and they were nicknamed the "Red Tails.” After the war, Mann was instrumental in designing the first Buick LeSabre automobile and the first communications satellite launched for commercial use.
His pride and joy was a miniature locomotive enshrined in the Smithsonian Institute, Mann also played a principal role in the Amos ‘N’ Andy radio show. He moved back to his hometown in the 1970s.
Frank Mann died on November 30, 1992, in Houston.

FFO and Smiles

Some funny faces in motion today for Nicole´s FFO as my week was too stressy to find the motivation  to sketch... Hop to #1 for "Eye of the Tiger"...

To make up for the lack, bet our FFO-host likes this:

And to join Annie´s Smiles...

I have a Max-pause as my friend  is at the ocean and Max refuses to travel, so a cat-dose from the internet, soooo cute, huh?

And now some  funnies:

Not my birth-year, but isn´t this tempting?

Luckily I have the off today as I still have had 11 days off that I need to take this year.

Well, they did study a couple of semesters, but don´t even have a bachelor...
In times of www people can find out  about this - embarrassing, no?

The following one I didn´t realize at first it´s German:

When I got home, there was a note from my wife:
"Coming home at 06:15 p.m., please set the large pot to level 4 at 05:30 and the small pot to level 5 at 05:45."
I did that!
Wasn't right again."
In German "level" is "Stufe" - "step"...

And certainly...

Henry´s 🦁 wife...

I´m off for some hugs, too - after I think two years I visit lille Bro and will also meet the Nieces as in Lower Saxony it´s still summer holiday.
Well "summer-holiday" - it´s cold and rainy here whereas Italy, Spain & Co glow in the heat and fight fires...
