The Typeface LOVE Connection!

Please, fonts have feelings too you know! They also have personalities.
(Except for Comic Sans and Papyrus - they are each dumb as bricks).

So what happens when a font gets lonely?

Enter the Type Connection! As her final thesis for a M.F.A. from MICA, Aura Seltzer designed an online dating game for typefaces!

From her site:
Type Connection is an online game that helps users learn how to pair typefaces. Like a conventional dating website, Type Connection presents potential “dates” for well-known, workhorse typefaces. Users are matchmakers. They decide what kind of match to look for by choosing among several strategies for combining typefaces.
Brilliant! The accompanying exhibit is now closed, but the website is still up.
Help out some wanting typefaces!

And here's the story behind the project at Felt & Wire!

TREEFORT!

This one's for you loopy.

Want to go camping, but afraid of bugs, snakes, or bears? Pitch your tent in the air, above the forest floor and away from critters and potential predators, with Tentsile, “the world’s most versatile tent.” The portable tent-hammock hybrid can be used in nearly any environment, anchored to trees in the heart of a forest, hovering over shifting beach sands, pitched above the plains for a brief respite on a safari, or even suspended over disaster and flood zones
This thing sounds crazy. It's a cross between a hammock and a treefort, but it also can stand alone with a three pole support system. Different sizes hold 2-3 people up to a 12 person monster! I wonder how you split this bad boy up for when your backpacking. Dib's on the poles!

Get on da bus! The Go-Go thrifty shop bus!

Completely caught off guard to get my picture taken... but Stacy is a natural!
This image from Baltimore Sun
My early Saturday mornings usually consist of not washing my hair, putting on some schlubby clothes and dashing my Etsy goods to the post office unseen by the public. So when, bleary-eyed, Andy and I stumbled down the avenue,  it took a few minutes to register what I was looking at.

This was no fuzzy nightmare of middle school...this was a fantastic school bus filled with thrifty goodies! Swoon!

Now I'm a pretty bouncy person, but the owner, Stacy, completely eclipsed me. Maybe it was because she just quit her day job? (YAY!) or because she had the most adorable puppy-in-a-basket to keep her company!? Either way, I had a great time browsing through the awesomeness. Even Andy enjoyed his time by petting the pooch and adding dry erase graffiti on the ceiling!

Check out the Go-go's Retread Threads bus stop schedule here!

Some other linkies:
Go-go's bus at Honfest! And at Hampdenfest! (How did I miss this!??? Oh wait... I was probably highly intoxicated. Nothing says "Yay Neighborhood" than drinking in public!)

Did I mention I love how random Hampden always seems to be?

Decpticon Engagement Ring.. aka are you trying to tell me something?

Still pretty awesome tho!

The setting of this ring was custom made for a customer using our 3Design CAD CAM software and cast in 14k white gold.
If you ask me, she should take a REAL good look at the fiance! You don't wanna get stuck changing oil diapers later on...

Yo momma is a shitty Graphic Designer!! BOO-YA!

Don't know why it took me so long to post this. I have literally read each of these like, 18,000 times - and repeated them at the most awkward places. (i.e. work, home, meetings, bathroom, to the boss).
Put your neighbor to shame with these Yo Momma's a Shitty Designer printable notepads. The file is 8.5x11 without bleed so print away on any standard printer and then just tear the sheet in half.
Best one imo? Yo momma's so fat, she thought RGB was a sandwich!
Or .. Yo momma's so lo-res, she can't even save for web!

Btw, there is a call for entries! You got a good one? Share it!

Archimedes’ Scale Fruit Bowl! aka science is fun!

Archimedes’ Scale operates on the principle of buoyancy, submerging part of its body up to the appropriate line to measure the dry ingredients within.
That is pretty darn brilliant.

Or how about the Principle of Communicating Vessels?
This principle states that the liquid levels in two “communicating” containers will stay at equal levels in both. By making use of this principle, these vessels keep potted flowers and cut flowers supplied with fresh water.
And there's more amazing product designs from Acquacalda Designs on their site here!
Where were these when I was in grade school!? via

I knew it had to be Liiiies

Well all except the part about addiction, but you can't win them all! I did, however, learn why I cannot drink coffee after 2pm:

"As someone with a background in physics, I was delighted to find out that the amount of caffeine in a person follows a half-life curve. Briefly, if you drink 300mg of caffeine, five hours later there will be 150mg left in your body. Five more hours later there will be 75mg, five more hours 37.5mg and so on."

Check out C.P. Grey's other videos. The one about continents was particularly entertaining as was the one on copyrights.

Eggcellent Halloween Idea

For those of not terribly excited about decorating our houses for Halloween or didn't have time to buy any pumpkins this year, there are still options!

"I don’t really decorate for Halloween, but I did whip out a marker and turn my eggs into little ghosts. Aren’t they cute? Now I’m going to be sad every time I crack one. Have fun doing whatever Halloween-y things you have planned for this evening!"

Sneak into your fridge at night and work some magic on your eggs. Maybe you could even make likenessess of your roommates or significant other. Too bad mine doesn't eat eggs. I'd really love to see his face when he discovers these in the fridge! via

Advanced Style - Dressing Age Appropriate? PHSHAW!

Who says you have to be young and waif-ish to be fashionable?  These "advanced" ladies show you are never too old to play with your clothes and look FABULOUS. I admire their chutzpah!

In our immediate family we're lucky to have amazing dressers to emulate. Jealously of outfits runs rampant. Unfortunately they're all smaller than a size 4 compared to my "behemoth" larger sizing - so hand me downs are out of the question.

Hmm... maybe some of these ladies might want to adopt another grandchild????

Bitter Chocolatier or Angry Ex Chocolate Packaging

This is the most amazing packaging I have ever seen.
Really.
No, seriously.

The Dieline sums it up "Poking fun at himself, The Bitter Chocolatier tells his tales of misfortune throughout his life through the different flavours"

Get it? Cause he's BITTER! and needs Chocolate to get through it! (that last bit might be my interpretation).

Too bad this is student work, cause I would like one of each.... maybe personalized....

Ollie Klublershturf vs. The Nazis!

Little brother Ollie is a super genius! But when his inept older brother brings home a thinly veiled NAZI SPY to steal his time machine, things get hairy for the Nazis!

Awesomeness.
