ATC366++ ARTIST TRADING CARDS

www.atc.yzonk.com

The ATC's (Artist Trading Cards) are, as the name suggests, works of art created with the intention of being traded. They were used for a long time, in the artistic medium as business cards that represented the artist's capacities and were exchanged, in hand, among artists, gallerists and art dealers and others. With this small catalog of artworks, it would thus be possible for anyone interested to learn techniques from other artists, to own a small private collection of art or even to use them as real business cards at the time of commissioning works.
Although there are reports of the use of this type of card in the XVIII century, it was only in the late 90s, by the Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann, that they gain the current name by which they are known today and come to have their standardized dimensions as 64 x 89 mm (2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches).

Some of ATC's variants are:
ACEO's (Art Cards Editions and Originals) - a version specifically designed for sale.
ATCBJ (Artist Trading Card Buddy Jam) - identical or similar ATC's, the result of collaboration among two or more artists and created in an identical quantity to those involved.
On a Double Buddy Jam, the first artist sends 2 similar ATCs to a second artist. The receiver works on top of those starters, keeps one and returns the second to the sender. A Triple Buddy Jam is rather similar, yet involves 3 artists.

On the ATCs back, the artists may sign and write the date when he received and the date of the art creation among other details.

Frankenstein ATC

I am attempting to amass a large collection of portraits of Frankenstein's Monster in as many different styles and in as many different media as possible as an ongoing mail art project. The only stipulation is that the size is 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches (standard artist trading card size) and that each card has name, date, title and anything else you care to add on the back.

I welcome cards from both amateur and professional artists.

I will be leaving blank cards with instructions and mailing address in galleries, colleges, art shops, on buses, handing them out in the street and wherever else I can think of.

If you think you can spare the time to produce a little something, please send a portrait to:

A Patchwork Of Flesh
45 Silversea Drive
Westcliff on Sea
Essex
SS0 9XD
United Kingdom

Each card I receive will be uploaded at http://apatchworkofflesh.blogspot.com/ to produce an on-line gallery, I then hope to put on an exhibition of these cards in a gallery.
No Returns.

I am new to this, please tell me if I need to submit any more information please.

Thanks a lot,
Paul Cooper

ATC info

dear traders

here is another show of Artist Trading Cards:

Vänçi Stirnemann regelmässig in verschiedenen Projekten zusammen. Bereits

Art Junction

Hi everyone, the artist trading card group ATC ONLINE has expanded and so we've changed our name to ArtJunction at Yahoo groups. You can get there by clicking HERE. We will still have ATC swaps and also postcard swaps but also many more mixed media art projects. You must join Yahoo to become a member but I've been at this group thing for over 3 years and it's tons of fun. You must send the moderators your real name and address & participate in at least 4 swaps per year.
Warmly,
Sharon
