A Baptism Card

My daughter's friend Stacey, turned 8 this week - her card lent itself beautifully to the Dilly Beans Challenge this week and is a few posts below here. Her eighth birthday also meant another milestone for Stacey. Her family are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - you might know them more commonly as 'Mormons' - and when a child in The Church turns 8, they can choose whether or not to be Baptised and Stacey made the decision to step into the water and take on the covenants that go along with becoming a member of The Church - there's a couple of links above if you're intrigued by this!!

I knew I had to make her another card! I started with a vision - Stacey and her father who would perform the baptism would both be wearing white and I really wanted to do an all white card.... with flowers on!

I dug out some Safmat to print a sentiment and my XCut Posey dies to make the flowers, Marianne Creatables Chinese Rose to make the rolled roses and a Cuttlebug swirly embossing folder for the background.

I added some sticky gems to the flower centres and tiny heart gems within some of the swirls from the embossing folder. There's some Star Dust Stickles on the rolled roses. And some blingy flourishes to finish.

I am entering this card into the current challenge over at My Craft Creations entitled 'Special Occasions'.

Valentine's Day 2013

In honour of the Day of Love, i thought i'd share with you some of the Valentine cards i've made this year. This post will be picture heavy - enjoy!!!

This first card uses Red Mulberry paper and the waste from a Cricut Heart, small white heart and sentiment complete the card. This is my entry for this weeks (week 31) CASology Challenge.

Some more cards in no particular order!
These first two use my trusty Cricut and have Star Dust Stickle accents on the lettering. A couple of Sizzix Lacy Heart embosslets adorn the 'boyfriend' card.

These two cards use a Spellbinders paisley M-Bossibilities for the background. The 'valentine' is cut from a Tim Holtz embossing folder and the hearts on the second card are cut by the Cricut.

The black and red card uses a quickcutz heart die and sizzix embossing folder with more red mulberry paper. 'For My Wife' was cut on the Cricut and I have used Craftwork Cards Sugarplum papers and flowers to decorate.

These next three cards are all made using the same Tim Holtz Sizzix Embossing Folder but in the different styles. This first is a vintage look with distressed boho papers from Craftwork Cards and matching mini blooms. The 'love' has been highlighted with Crackle Glaze - its not as brown as that in 'real life'!

Some simple matting and layering of the embossed background for the second two cards. Stickles to highlight 'love' on the red and purple card and the Pink and Black was embossed onto Core-Dinations colour core paper and sanded - Glossy Accents has been used to highlight 'love' here this time.

An elegant metal heart and simple mat and layer make this a chic and simple card. The scalloped squares with random cut hearts was designed on the Cricut craft room and i think makes a simple, pretty card.

These last two use a set of Craftwork Cards stamps and papers - i just love how one set of stamps can look anyway you want it to just by changing the colours - simple and pretty here.

Busy day today, taking my youngest two to toddlers this morning and i've got a few challenges I want to work on later today - I'll show what I come up with.... well, if I come up with anything!
Thanks for reading!

My First Blog Post.... eeeek!

Ok, so i'm gonna have a go at this blogging malarky and see what happens!

Give me a few weeks to get organised and work out how the whole thing works.

I'm a crafter/cardmaker and will be posting photos of stuff i make on here for folks to see and make comments on. I'd love it if you let me know what you think.... dont be too negative... i might not stick around if no one likes it! :D

So, Call me Mo. And I'll show you what i make.

For my first attempt, i'll show you this one!
My good friend Jen asked me to make a 30th birthday card for her friend Nikki. She asked for the funky zombie she'd seen on another of my makes and said - black/purple/green.

So here it is - Cricut craft room exclusive Zombie girl, letters and number using the Cricut 'Storybook' font and the corners are using a Cuttlebug swirly embossing folder with skulls on it - I just cut out the bits i needed for the corners. The purple and green is core'dinations and i've sanded the skulls in the corners to stand out a bit. Start Dust Stickles to accent on the letters and numbers.... cos a card isn't finished without a bit of glitter!
