The May 28th, 1979 soundboard of Rush in Frankfurt, Germany is one of the most famous and coveted early Rush recordings. There are a few versions of this show available but all suffer from rumors that the sources have been altered and that the recordings do not accurately reflect the show that night.

audience recording from the I Can See Your House From Here tour.

Even though Camel were going into a more and more "accessible" direction, this recording still proves the point of their excellent musicianship and the emphasis on instrumental parts. The mixture they found for the setlist is quite satisfying from that point of view!
I'd rate the sound quality as B to B+. Unfortunately, I did not get any information about the lineage from the trader.
So my lineage is: traded FLACs --> dB Poweramp (converting to wav) --> setlist check, lossiness check --> checksums --> you

A very good show from I Can See Your House From Here Tour. Although recorded from audience, it has a pretty good sound.
The setlist is very interesting either, comprising most of I Can See... album, plus old classics. There is a very good Snow Goose selection, with shortened versions, but with more songs. And it includes the rare and unrealeased Nobody Knows.
Despite its shortness, a fantastic document.
Artwork is included.

Noel Gallagher (Pre-Oasis) Demos 1989

Noel_Gallagher_1989_Demo_f
TAPE 2 - "NOEL'S SONGS" (1989)
The second tape, which contained five tracks, was believed to been recorded by Noel in 1989. Only one track, 'But What If...', was unheard, with the other four songs being on the 1988 tape, although it's unknown if the recordings are exactly the same. A couple of friends of the seller of the tape appeared on alt.music.oasis on the 26th July 2001 gauging possible demand for a private sale. They claimed It had gone up for auction at Christies at an earlier date but didn't sell, supposedly because Noel Gallagher was there in person attempting to buy some original John Lennon lyrics and potential buyers were perhaps put off by his presence. You can see the Christies brochure of the original auction, which features more information on the history of the tape here and you can read the original alt.music.oasis thread here.
In June 2006, this tape was put up for sale on eBay but was later sold privately. Clips from all five songs were made available to this site as evidence of the tapes authenticity. The tape was purchased by a consortium of Oasis fans with the explicit agreement that the contents of the tape would be made publicly available and that the tape would later be returned to Noel in some way.
1. What's It Got To Do With You? (NEW!! - 2:00)
The song was also included on Noel's 1988 demo tape although it's unknown if both tapes contain the same exact recording. Read an NME review of this track here and a review taken from Record Collector magazine here. Both reviews are of the version from the 1988 demo tape. Noel also apparently referred to this song as 'Ask Me How I Feel'.
2. Hey You (aka No Cause For Alarm!) (NEW!! - 3:29)
The song was also included on Noel's 1988 demo tape (under the title of 'No Cause For Alarm') although it's unknown if both tapes contain the same exact recording. Read an NME review of this track here and a review taken from Record Collector magazine here. Both reviews are of the version from the 1988 demo tape. Noel referred to this song as 'Hey You'.
3. What's Been Happenin' (aka I Didn't Think So!) (NEW!! - 3:01)
The song was also included on Noel's 1988 demo tape (under the title of 'I Didn't Think So') although it's unknown if both tapes contain the same exact recording.
4. But What If... (NEW!! - 4:50)
Clip 1 first emerged online on the 1st August 2001 when three short clips (of the intro, verse and chorus) were made available from a couple of friends of the seller of the tape.
5. Gotta Have Fun (NEW!! - 5:02)

Camel: Helsinki, Finland 1976 (Aud) FLAC

moonrise helsinki front
MOONRISE live at Kulttuuritalo
20 September 1976
audience recording

A recording from the Moonmadness tour. I'd rate the sound quality as B. Unfortunately, I did not get any information about the lineage from the trader. There are some dropouts, e.g. on Rhayader, occasionally the sound is somewhat unbalanced, but all in all this is of OK quality - hey, this was 1976!

This was the first tour when Mel Collins joined the band on saxes and flute. After ther first three songs from the Snow Goose, Peter Bardens makes an announcement for Supertwister, but the song that follows is Song Within A Song. What probably happened with the introduction is that the recording was cut and this piece was put in the wrong place. You can hear a faint cut after the Supertwister intro and Song Within A Song.

Camel: Sheffield City Hall, UK 1978 (FLAC)

BY REQUEST!
breathless sheffield front
20 September 1978
This one comes from the Breathless tour in 1978. Pete Bardens had left the band immediately after the album had been finished. The artistic problems between Pete and Andy Latimer had grown to such an extent that Pete decided to leave, being of the opinion that Andy drifted too much towards a mainstream market. Bass-player Richard Sinclair convinced his cousin and ex-Caravan band-mate David Sinclair to join Camel on tour, but the band even enlisted a second keyboard player, Jan Schelhaas being the choice. David had promised to help out only on that specific tour and left the band after that, Jan stayed with Camel until 1981.
The recording is quite a nice one, not perfect, perhaps a B+, but with a very fine setlist.
Again, this recording comes from a trade, and unfortunately, I don't have any information about recording gear, lineage etc. I got these in a trade as FLACs and only converted them to WAV to create the setlist and check for lossiness.

Neil Young: The Complete Joel Bernstein Tapes 1976 (Acoustic Soundboard) FLAC

all 22 songs
NY 76 Bernstein1
Acoustic soundboard compilation, November 1976
Sources:
Tracks 1-9 and 12-22: "Acoustic Young" bootleg
Tracks 10 and 11: "River of Pride" bootleg
Joel Bernstein worked with Neil Young as a photographer and as his musical archivist. He compiled soundboard recordings of his favorite performances from Neil's acoustic sets in November 1976. These recordings have been widely distributed for a long time -- I believe they first appeared on vinyl under the title "Last Plane Outta Here." (Vinyl is NOT the source of what I have here.)
Most Young collectors have these recordings, but most of them have the version taken from the bootleg titled "Acoustic Young," which is missing two of the 22 songs: "Heart of Gold" and "A Man Needs a Maid."
Here I've used the 20 tracks from "Acoustic Young" and inserted the missing songs in the original correct running order. Those two songs are take from the "River of Pride" bootleg, which I think has slightly lower sound quality compared with "AY," though you may not notice it. I've equalized the volume because the stuff was taken from two sources.
Note that although these are soundboard recordings, they are not direct from the master. The tapes were passed around between friends until someone finally bootlegged them. I consider the sound to be excellent for a bootleg -- especially one from 1976 -- though it's not official-release quality. It's a very enjoyable disc, and I consider it to be an essential part of a good Neil Young collection.

Genesis: Live in Berlin 1987 (Pre-FM) FLAC

untitled1
Reichstagsgelaende/Platz der Republik, June 8th, 1987.
TM Productions GEN870608TM
This remaster was formerly known as "MASTER OF BERLIN". Audio-source: Pre-FM DAT, with the exception of "Throwing It All Away", "Drum Duet" and most of the spoken introductions. Most likely, these bits were omitted to keep the program length below 120 mins. So I had to restore the show with the help of a 2nd gen Cassette tape that David D was kind to lend me. This tape was noticably worse than the DAT and I remember it was not easy to adjust, but as no one has noticed the fact that the remaster was a composite, I think it must have worked ;)
Mastered with Sonic Solutions, restauration of the 2nd gen recordings with Sonic Solutions NoNoise.

TRANSFER/EDITING NOTES:
There's no denying it, this has to be of the best audience recordings available from the '75 By Numbers tour in terms of sound quality and performance. Even Toronto '75 cannot boast the vocal clarity on this one. The Who were on fire for a lot of these performances, evidenced by the fine audience recordings from this era.
I chose to apply some edits to this recording in an effort to improve on the already stellar sound quality. These edits amount to little more than specific frequency adjustments wherein some low-mid range noise existed, causing that boomy muffled sound typical to audience recordings and properly balancing of the overall recording level. The second disc is of slightly better sound quality. That is how I received the source discs. If there is a better quality version in circulation, I'd certainly welcome it! Regardless, this one sounds great to my ears . I have included new artwork to go along with this remaster. For those who have never heard this show, sit back and prepare for the full aural assualt that was The Who running on all cylinders in the mid-seventies! Enjoy!

These cassettes were located by Jonohull through a friend of his who went to all 3 Zeppelin shows in 1975 with the taper of this recording. His friend Kevin was gracious enough to lend the cassettes out to Jonohull who in return passed them along to me for repair and transfering. This is the first time this recording has ever been in circulation and the first time it has been heard by anyone including Kevin in a great many years.

Parliament Funkadelic: Unreleased Outtakes and Demos 1973 (FLAC)

Ev'rybody sing, "We want the Funk, 'gotta have that Funk! ..."
P-Funk_Unreleased_Outtakes_and_Demos_booklet1
Circa: 1973
Source: CDR>EAC>FLAC
Quality: B to B-
These 3 discs contain various tracks recorded by Parliament/Funkadelic around 1973. Many of the tracks are instrumentals or alternate recordings of various Parliament/Funkadelic songs released in the years following 1973. There some completley different musical arrangements in these songs and many of the lyrics are completely different than the finished product.
Eddie Hazel, Bootsy Collins, Glen Goins, Bernie Worrell and the Horny Horns are all heavily featured here as well as the rest of the P-Funk crew. I don't have any info as to how these were transfered from the acetates, but the quality is still very listenable. There is some noticable hiss and the ocasional pop but believe me,
this is nothing compared to the ultimate funk bomb that is contained here. This is some of the rarest and funkiest P-Funk recordings in exsistance.

There was a minor problem with the extraction no matter how many times I tried, turns out it was just some strange null samples at the end of t05 requiring deletion and a minor crackle fix on the seam of t05-t06.

Grade: A
Lineage: FM > cass (TDK D90, Type I)(M) > Denon DR-W24HX (w/Azimuth applied) > .wav > CD(M) > .flac > you!
Broadcast live by BBC Radio One on the Jakki Brambles show, this has the boys playing 4 songs in front of a small audience at the BBC's Maidevale studios, with chat in between. The songs are the usual fair, but the banter is highly entertaining. The band sarcastically work their way through topics like trashing hotels, the infamous G'n'R tour and their lack of popularity in the US.

Frank Zappa and the MOI: The Weasel Music 1969 (Extremely Rare Acetate) FLAC

THE STORY OF THE ACQUISITION: A firsthand account from my source ...
So I get a call from the widow of the great artist, Neon Park. She says, "I've been going through Marty's stuff (Neon's real name was Marty) and I have a lot of records of his. I was talking to (mutual friend) Betzy and she said you like records. Do you want them?" and, being the vinyl hound I am, I said, "You bet! I'll take 'em all sight unseen." She said, "Okay, I'll go pull the can back in from the street." She had had them all in a trash can waiting for the Sanitation Engineers to pick them up.
Now I know Neon worked for many years doing album art for Warner Brothers (best known for Zappa's WEASELS RIPPED MY FLESH and his string of covers for LITTLE FEAT) and was on their mailing list for new releases. Upon going through the LPs from the trash bin I found the usual assortment of product, some good, some not to my liking.
But then...
In an envelope addressed to Mr. Frank Zappa at his Laurel Canyon address, I found three studio acetate test recordings: a early ELO LP, a copy of Jean-Luc Ponty's Zappa tribute LP, KING KONG, and a curious disc labeled "The Weasel Music". Suspecting that this might indeed BE SOMETHING, I cautiously played it once. It seemed to be a live recording of the Mothers goofing around on stage doing what I guessed to be a mock-ballet. While light pseudo-classical piano arpeggios play (Ian Underwood?) you can hear the shuffling of feet and various antics while the crowd respond with laughter and amusement. I would imagine that it was mostly a visual presentation as opposed to an essential Zappa musical composition.
I kept this relic in good condition, still in its original envelope and cardboards. I lent it to my new friend and Zappaphile, Krel, when I moved to Little Rock. He has played it only twice, recording it both times.
So there you go.

This is a great sounding aud recording of a great show from the In Utero tour. I've read that this recording may actually be a SBD/Aud Matrix but I'm not 100% sure - it actually leans toward being a very good aud recording. Low end is typically boomy but vocals (after the first few tracks) come through nice and clear. Big John Duncan, Nirvana's guitar tech, plays 2nd guitar on tracks 8 through 10 VERY RARE). Again, it's a great gig with a decent amount of banter and Kurt even blows out his voice during Where Did You Sleep Last Night.
I found that the "Come As You Are" Nirvana Bootleg reference website has a great transcript of this show if you search by the date of the gig... http://www.timpatton.com/nirvana/frameshowfaqs.html The actual gig appears on disc under a few different titles and from reading the different transcripts, it seems that some of the banter was cut from this particular boot version.

IMO, the SQ generally gets stronger as the show progresses with the 2nd set stronger than the 1st partly because it contains almost all stereo.
Objective was to repair the drop outs and drop downs while retaining large contiguous
stereo segments, speed correct, balanced the channel levels/gain thoughout, remove repeated segments and splice, remove some loud pops and noises, and smooth and edit where necessary. (Beginning is rougher than the rest due to taper's adjustments)

Elvis Presley: Greensboro 1972 (New EX Soundboard) FLAC

frontix2
Greensboro, April 14 1972
Title: A Greensboro Revolution
Label: Madison
silver-eac-wav(one track)-flac(one track)-wav(one track)-track splitting eac-flac
There is a new release from the Elvis show at Greensboro 1972 in Stereo from the multi tracks out there, done by Madison. It has an awesome sound, first time in stereo. I never heard an Elvis boot in such great sound.
There are many instances when concerts are re-released as "remastered" where you can hear virtually no difference, if any, in the sound quality. This isn't one of those times. The sound quality is, quite simply, superb. This is a must, not just for Elvis fans but for anyone who may not have any Elvis in their collections.
With a huge thank you to summer who provided a lossless version.

Genesis: Wembley 1987 (Pre-FM Master DAT) FLAC

usable art
Live in the City of Light: Wembley, 4th July 1987, BBC Pre-FM Master DAT
Trade CD (very low gen at time of recording surfacing) > EAC (Secure mode) > FLAC Level 8
A brief story - this recording, taken from a Pre-FM master DAT, was supposedly auctioned for charity, with a guy who shall remain nameless posting messages to Paperlate about a charity auction, sanctioned by Hit and Run. He claimed that Hit and Run had provided 5 copies of this recording and 5 copies of a Phil Collins live CD to be auctioned off to the highest bidders.
Whilst the sound quality of this recording makes the story plausible, the quality of the PC CD (which I bought) was pretty rubbish and in fact there was never any more news from the supposed auctioneer about which charity would benefit or the total amount raised. It's now widely believed that this whole story was bogus, so the idea of this being sourced from Hit and Run is very unlikely.
Still I do believe that a very well known G-trader was approached by someone who had a contact at the BBC with regards to digitising their master DAT of this show and that's where this recording originated.
There are a couple of minor flaws during 'Throwing It All Away' and 'Home by the Sea' which orignate on the master DAT but otherwise this is perfect - certainly one of the best sounding boot in Genesis History.
Enjoy!

A Tree Full of Secrets is a Pink Floyd bootleg comprising a vast collection of studio outtakes and rarities (defined as "not on a core album"). It is generally considered the definitive Pink Floyd/solo rarities collection, catching every obscure remix and outtake (even if suspected to be fake) available at the time it was assembled (tracks compiled in 1999/2000). (Note that in 2001, the Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd album was released, which contained new mixes of songs.) The original format of the collection is CDR, and was compiled not to be sold, but to be traded and shared.
