Steel Pulse: Boston 1984 (FM) FLAC

steel pulse
WFNX, Boston. late June 1984.
Source: Maxcell dbs 90>Xitel Inport>Hard Drive>WAV>FLAC(8).

OU: I got this one in fall 1989 from my cousin James, and no scam, it did sit in a concrete basement in Canada until I rescued it (along with Burning Spear Chicago '88) in 2008. Michael _________ of WFNX Boston starts the intro, but the first few moments are squelched audio until it opens up during Reggae Fever. As for the date, the Musicians mention that they were in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire before Boston, so If someone has the dates for the '84 tour, please enlighten me. The sound is alright, not fantastic, but ok, and a welcome addition to '84 Steel Pulse. I did re-work the audio as it was in need, as I don't think it was an early generation, but rather a later one. There is a momentary left channel quality drop during Prodigal Son...it was on the original...so I can't fix it without another source.

Side A:
1. Intro-Reggae Fever: 5:52
2. Soldiers: 4:42
3. Blues Dance Raid: 7:40
4. Prodigal Son: 6:11
5. Roller Skates: 6:06
6. Handsworth Revolution: 7:00
7. Macka Spliff: 4:24

Side B:
8. Wild Goose Chase: 5:28
9. Throne Of Gold: 4:58
10. Ravers: 12:04
11. Steppin' Out: 5:01
12. Steppin' Out Dub Live: 2:27
13. Leggo Beast: 4:21
14. Marcus Say Dub: 9:33
15. Chant A Psalm: 2:59 (cut)

OU: OK, here we are a FM broadcast of Iggy & The Stooges with James Williamson on guitar. Again, I dont get the best reception of WFMU even though Im pretty damn close to it, but it was coming in better today after some messing withthe antenna and the Beam Box, that being said, it is still a mono recording throughout most of it, stereo might have broken in at some points. Also, I heard some glitches throughout the broadcast and dropouts, they were all from WFMU's side of things, I think this show made it through pretty unscathed. Offensive words blurred out.

(7) Newport Folk Festival, RI July 25, 1965 [acoustic]

Review: This CD is one to grab for several reasons. First of all, The Newport shows from Freebody Park are essential both to any serious Dylan collection, as well as to any music historian.
This set compares the sublime acoustic folk '64 show to the infamous 'Electric' '65 show that forever changed the face of folk, rock, and folk-rock music.
The entire CD is soundboard recordings, and this is the best sounding Newport recordings ever. The filler material is of fascinating historical importance as well.
The two missing songs from the newly discovered Hollywood Bowl show. Finally, the aesthetics are nice, the venue information is complete, and the period photos are vibrant.

Bob Dylan: Hollywood Bowl 1965 (Soundboard) FLAC

bob
actual art here: http://bootlegzone.com/album.php?name=VT-170§ion=26

9/3/65 Soundboard Both Sets (Acoustic and Electric) from Silver

OU: This show popped up out of nowhere in the late 90's and was suddenly everywhere! Numerous bootlegs appeared; this is direct from silver; "From Newport to the Ancient Empty Street in L.A." on Dandelion (DL 061/62). The discs came with lots of other tracks, but I'm pretty sure that most wound up on the new official release "Bootleg Series vol.7" When I know what's on that, I may post the rest of the tracks...
This is a perfect soundboard. The electric set is with The Band (yes, with Levon Helm too). It's got a few songs that don't appear in the more common 1966 shows. It's missing the crucial energy that the '66 Europe shows have; but hell, it's a soundboard with The Band from '65 in perfect sound. That alone makes this a must!

Acoustic Set:
1. She Belongs to Me
2. To Ramona
3. Gates of Eden
4. It's All Over Now Baby Blue
5. Desolation Row
6. Love Minus Zero/No Limit
7. Mr. Tambourine Man

Electric Set:
1. Tombstone Blues
2. I Don't Believe You
3. From Buick 6
4. Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues
5. Maggie's Farm
6. It Ain't Me Babe
7. Ballad of a Thin Man
8. Like a Rolling Stone

The Band:
Steven Tyler - Vocal, Harmonica
Joe Perry - Guitar, Vocal
Brad Whitford - Guitar
Tom Hamilton - Bass
Joey Kramer - Drums
Russ Irwin - Keyboards, Backing Vocal

OU: Last show of the US leg of the Cocked tour and a home coming of sorts. It looked like all of the Tyler family were present including dad and daughters Chelsea, Mia and Liv. This was my first Aerosmith show, a couple years too late as far as I can tell. A good show but Steve did not have the voice in my opinion. The band played excellent and the crowd was having a great time. This recording is really good in no small part due to the location and the high volume.

Sinéad O'Connor: Genova 2010 (FM) FLAC

sinead2
Recorded at Arena del mare, Porto Antico, Genova (ITALY), on thursday 8 July 2010

this was edited strangely, before broadcast, and interrupted for radio news, with many a track and a mood off Theology album....
WARNING: in italian radio customes the DJ speaks a lot in-between songs. And I mean a lot.. His/Her purpose is to introduce songs with bits of bio and translate what the artists say. It may gets VERY annoying, and trust me it does, thus we might consider this recording ONLY FOR COMPLETISTS. But the songs, the actual music, are (usually) not spoken over in the middle of them. It has to be noted that usually italian djs are adviced to talk that much by the same record companies to prevent bootlegging.

tracklist > running time 99'40"
01-Something Beautiful
02-The Healing Room
03-The Emperor's New Clothes
04-Whomsoever Dwells
05-Never Get Old
06-You Made Me The Thief Of Your Heart
07-Dark I Am Yet Lovely
08-Three Babies
09-If U Ever
10-I Am Stretched On Your Grave
11-Black Boys On Mopeds
12-This is To Mother You
13-Take Back
14-The Lamb's Book Of Life
15-Song To The Siren
16-Last Day Of Our Acquaintance
17-Nothing Compares 2 U
18-Very Far From Home
19-Thank You For Hearing Me
20-Times They Are A'Changing
21-If You Had A Vineyard
22-Sing All You Righteous To The Lord
23-Before We End Our Day [FADES OUT]

10: Roll With The Changes 6:20
11: Riding The Storm Out (With Drum Solo) 12:08
12: Time For Me To Fly 4:47
runtime: 85:24

lineage: 101.1 WGIR-FM radio pre-recorded broadcast > Yamaha 500 receiver > Nak. BX-100 cassette deck (dolby off) > Maxell UDXLII cassette (high bias) > played on Nak. 300 cassette deck into soundforge (wav) > flac (sb's aligned) > torrentially yours.

OU: The recording has some FM interference, not the kind with loud static, but sometimes the music doesn't come through as clearly as other times. This is apparently the full broadcast, tape was flipped after track 6 ended. It is a stereo recording.
REO Speedwagon does not have alot of official live recordings, just one recorded in the 1970's from a few different shows, and another recorded many years after this show.
this is the only 1990 REO show listed in etree, and the only one I know of too. This is not the definitive edition source of this FM broadcast, but it is listenable, and the tape was played through for the 1st time since its recording to digitize it in August of 2010 for posting.

Queensrÿche: Stockholm 1986 (VG++ Aud) FLAC

Venue: Johanneshovs Isstadion
City: Stockholm
Country: Sweden
Date: December 6 1986
Taper: Hard2Handell
Recording Equipment: Sony WM-R55 Taperecorder with separate Sony stereo mic
Recording Location: On the floor in front of mixingdesk a bit to the left
Tour: Rage For Order World Tour
Opening For: Bon Jovi

Lineage: TDK AD 90 Tape > Sansui D-X119W Tapedeck > Philips standalone CD burner CDR777 > CDR > EAC "Secure Mode" > Wave > CD Wave Editor (Split Tracks) > Traders Little Helper > Flac 6

OU: I´d rate this one 9 out of 10.
Here we have Queesnryche from their Rage For Order Tour. Again found the sweet spot for a recording with almost no audience interference. This recording has only been traded a couple of times before on cassette back in the mid 80´s. Finally got around to convert it from the mastertape and share it here on Dime. It was great to listen to this show again after almost 23 years.

Setlist:
1. Intro
2. Neue Regel
3. Surgical Strike
4. Warning
5. The Whisper
6. London
7. Chemical Youth (We Are Rebellion)
8. Walk In The Shadows
9. Michael Wilton & Chris DeGarmo Guitar Battle
10. Rage For Order
11. Queen Of The Reich

And please don´t share this one in any lossy format. Enjoy !!!!!!!!!

Hey There, Hi There, Ho There....you're as welcome as can be.....L-A-M, P-I-N, Team Lampinski...
For all you Zappateers out there, we will now have our roll call:
Dan.....Carl.....Eric.....Kevin.....
Team Lampinski is all present and accounted for, we are glad you dropped by for today's show!!!
This offering is very special, there were only a handful of shows done with Captain Beefheart in the spring of 1975. As far as I can tell, there is no circulating recording of this show, so the databases are all gonna have to be updated.
Even though in traditional Lampinski fashion, this is an amazing recording, I know the fine folks over at Zappateers will do a fabulous job making it "just exactly perfect" for all to enjoy in perpetuity. I am personally very thankful for their hard work and dedication, not only for what they have done for Dan's recordings, but for the Zappa community in general. It strikes me that their fine website should be a model for any band's fanbase to get their much needed ROIO fix.
So here ya go boys and girls, the final Dan Lampinski Zappa Master Recording and I think it's a doozy....

The Police: Boston 1978 (Soundboard) FLAC

cd12028-frontpy
Here's an early show from The Police in Boston in the fall of '78. Recorded at The Rathskeller in Kenmore Square just a stones throw from Fenway Park, this Basement Club was the premier venue for Punk and New Wave in Boston in the late 70's. A friend of mine's band played "The Rat" often so I can testify that it was as Intimate as it was Rowdy! This show is originally listed as soundboard, however the sound is in Mono and was probably EQ'd at sometime. All praise go to the Original Recordist & Seeder, and as always Your Comments are Appreciated!!!
The Rat - Boston, MA - October 29, 1978

02. Hole In My Life 4:40

07. Born In The '50s 5:44

09. Next To You (reprise) 1:51
10. Dead End Job 3:45
Total Time: 41:22

Original Seeder Notes:
Lineage: SB > unknown gen cass > CDR
I got this show in a trade a couple years back. This one just turned up a few years ago and the sound is amazing. It's the earlist Police show available with them as a three piece band and the only known recording where they played "Dead End Job". This one's essential for any Police collection.

REO Speedwagon: Chicago 1979 (FM) FLAC

December 28, 1979
Chicago, Illinois
International Ampitheatre

master tapes(ampex extra low noise/high output 90min)>technics rs-t36r>r9(line in)>2gb memory card>pc>audition>cd wav>tlh(flac 8)>you

OU: vida audition, the three sides from the two tapes were spliced togther. the volume was amplified by 2.5 db overall. a very slight touch of low end was added. the tracks were cut using cd wav. nothing else has been done
here's a master fm tape from the archives of john e lee. it is unknown what type of equipment was used to record the live broadcast on wlup the loop, chicago's rock station. the 2nd tape of this file was not in the best shape and getting a good transfer took several attempts. this is a great sounding show with a very minimal of hiss.
there is a slight portion of the show missing. it cuts at the end of track 10 on disc one. no music is missing from track 10 on track 11, it cuts in at the start of the song. with that being said, would grade this 8-9/10.
the band is clearly in high spirts, putting on a hometown show at the international ampitheatre. reo went out there and killed till the crowd yelled for more, closing out the evening with a few tasty covers before finishing off with one of their own.

01)house announcer

Rainbow: Kyoto 1976 (Ex- Aud) FLAC

Front+Back
"Playing The Shadows (Apache)"
Kyoto Kaikan Daiichi Hall, Kyoto, Japan December 10th 1976
Rising Tour
Audience Recording
Artwork Included
Sound Quality: A-

Trade->2CDR->EAC->FLAC
Here you have the review from www.collectorsmusicreviews.com. Read it,

1976 was a watershed year for Rainbow. Their landmark studio album, Rising, was released and it demonstrated a marked, and dramatic, improvement in sound and songwriting as compared to the band’s relatively subdued first album, Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow. 1976 was also when the group did its first world tour, which was in support of Rising, and it appears that the media was very impressed with the live shows. New Musical Express reported, for example, that it was “clear that there was enough variation of pace and mood to substantiate Blackmore’s claim to a more melodic approach. He’s pouring out those high-speed, high-intensity sounds. His guitar sings lyrically, screams abusively and gibbers madly, all at a volume some notches above the pain threshold.”
Audience responses to Rainbow’s live act in 1976 were similarly enthused, with there being reports of chunks of plaster being knocked off some of the older venues and seats being removed from the floor. Thankfully, the ground-shaking nature of Rainbow’s 1976 shows was also well recorded, with commercial releases of three separate concerts in Germany from September, and 1977’s Live on Stagebeing a compilation of recordings from Germany and Japan in 1976. When viewed in this context, Tarantura’s exclusive access into Mr. Peach’s cavernous vaults has provided not only vastly deeper insights into Rainbow’s legendary 1976 Japanese shows, but also a watershed period for collectors of Rainbow’s staggering live catalog.
In Apache-Playing the Shadows, Tarantura present another, previously uncirculated Mr. Peach recording of a December, 1976 Rainbow concert in Japan. The rear of the title’s beautiful jacket displays a 50th anniversary emblem for the Kyoto venue where the show took place, and is named after Rainbow’s rendition of The Shadows’ 1960 smash hit, “Apache”, during the second half of this show.
For those familiar with Rainbow’s set list in December, 1976, there are no surprises here. The ferocity with which this show was played should also be of no surprise. For instance, after Dio introduced “Mistreated”, there was minimal tinkering by Blackmore before he lashed into his signature speed riffs leading into the song.
The deep resonance of Powell’s bass drum accents further set the tone, but Dio was especially enraged sounding in how he sung this song that night. The track’s quieter passages were recorded with crystal clarity, including amazing audience clapping in unison, but too much can’t be written about Dio’s stunning efforts in this song. At approximately 9 minutes into it, his voice soared as he sang “when you lose your mind . . . want to cry all the time . . . when there’s nowhere to go” in echoing, angelic sounds reminiscent of a boy’s choir. Simply stunning.
The power of his vocal performance received a separate track during “Man on the silver Mountain”, which is emotional to hear in this quality given his recent passing and the total absence of any other noises by the recorder to detract from what he was doing. For extra measure, “Sixteenth Century Greensleeves” was absolutely killer, and recorded beautifully, as was “Catch the Rainbow”, which included Blackmore using phrasing during his solos that differed from other concerts. It is no exaggeration to say that with each successive listening of this recording, further, impressive detail is revealed. This exemplifies why Mr. Peach’s recordings are so highly regarded, and why this title is so special.
The band were also in high spirits throughout the show, with Tony Carey first trying to whip-up the audience during the monitor check, Dio making numerous (and rather uncharacteristic) remarks between songs, and the band’s tinkering with an unknown tune after “Stargazer”, before they played The Shadows’ “Apache”. The version of “Stargazer” was bizarre, however, because of multiple instances of the band losing their place, Powell doubling the beat’s tempo during Blackmore’s lead, and Dio mixing up the lyrics. As consummate professionals, however, the show continued without relent, including a thunderous “Still I’m Sad” that eventually took things into “A Light in the Black” that was sandwiched between nasty Blackmore soloing.
The 1st edition’s glossy jacket bears a great close-up picture of Blackmore on the front, with pictures of Peach’s master cassettes, Powell, Dio, Blackmore, and the Kyoto venue on the inside. The discs have altogether different pictures on them, and are pieces of art in their own right. Because the 1st edition of this release sold out in short order, a second edition is apparently in the works. All in all, this is yet another tremendous Rainbow concert, and another tremendous production by Tarantura that is highly recommended.

The Wall Opening Night

Equipment: Roland CS10EM (binaural) > Tascam TR-08 24/96 > Audacity Export to Flac > Flac (Level 8, 24-bit, 96-Khz) > Adobe Audition 3.0 (clip restoration, downsampling to 16/44.1, track editing) > TLH (SBE fix, flac 8)
Taper: Many (nerdlogger)
Lineage: master recording (aud)
This is a 16/44.1 version of yesterday's upload of this show by Mayromlo. I have attempted to restore the clipping in the distorted parts, but this has had little effect because, I believe (as I posted in his thread), that the recording was too hot right from the get-go. I did no EQ or any other proessing to this. This is basically the same as the 24/96 version except for the clip restoration.
