Pretty Floral Eightieth Birthday Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you had a nice Easter and were able to meet up with a few people. Our church did its first live stream yesterday. The whole thing worked really well. Up to now we have been having pre-recorded services. Then friends came for coffee in the garden and later our daughter, son-in-law and their dog came for lunch. The weather was glorious and we were able to be in the garden the whole time. When everyone had gone we had a walk to a local pond where some ducks are moving in. Originally there were two now there are five. It was a good day.

I was asked to make a card for someone who was going to be 80. The card was to be posted so it needed to be flat and small enough not to incur higher postage. I am always up for a challenge. Here is the card.

I was given free reign with the colours so I chose my favourite mauves and purples. The backing paper was in my stash. The flowers were made with the Cornflower die from the John Next Door range. I used the Leafy Flourish die as well. I don't use pearls in the centres of the flowers as this would make the card too thick for posting.

I used the Renmore die from the John Next Door range to show off the sentiment. The Sentiment and Numbers were made with dies from my stash.

The card fitted the brief and was gratefully received. Later we are hoping to go for a walk by the sea. The weather isn't quite so nice today but I don't think the sleet that was forecast is coming.

Have a good day.

Not Just Cards Challenge blog - November Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for the week ahead. I am into my second week of invigilating. On Saturday we had a day catching up on jobs. While the weather was good we finished dismantling the shed and swept up all the leaves.  On Sunday we had a day of visiting parents and having a meal with my husband's and their wives. I am so looking forward to our cruise which is in less than a week's time.

The November  challenge starts today at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog and the theme is the ever popular Anything Goes.

This is the commission card I made for our friend's 80th Birthday. If you saw him you really wouldn't believe that he is 80.

I was asked to make this after my friend's wife  saw the exploding box  card that I made for my father-in-law.  The outside was easy to decorate with papers from The Works and the dies from the Nautical scene set from Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine.
Our challenges are fun to enter. If you click on the logo you will be taken to the current challenge.

The ship in the middle is a Tattered Lace die. It is held in place with gel glue that I left to set over night.

Here is a video of the box opening. I am not sure if it will work but I did try.

There is the inside of the box and the lid. I do like making this style of card.

A Nautical Themed Card 80th Birthday Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend?  Wasn't the weather awful on Saturday.I hope you are ready for the week ahead. We had a lovely time with our friends on Saturday. Hal Cruttenden was very funny. On Sunday we collected the hamper list from church and we sent it out to everyone in our group. We just have to wait and see what they want to contribute. This week and next I will be invigilating. This is for the Year 11 practice exams. One difference for me this time is that I will be in charge of a room. We will just have to see how that goes.

I was looking back through my files and I found a card ( I am sure there are many) that I hadn't shared.

This is the card I made for an old friend who was 80 back in October. To be honest it was a bit of a surprise to find out that he was 80.  His wife asked me to make a card for her to give him and I made this one  from us. He has worked on boats all his life so a nautical themed card was appropriate. The background paper came from a pad from the Works.

This is a Crafter's Companion die.

I made this little scene with Nautical Scenes Die Set  from Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine. The anchors at the bottom came from an old card. The 80th was cut with Crafter's Companion dies.

There you have it. I will be sharing this blog post when I get back from invigilating.

Have a great week.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) - Things with Wings Challenge

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How it your week going? I am pleased the weather has got a bit cooler it makes it easier for me to get things done. This evening I am meeting my hubby in town and we are going to see Avenue Q at the Mayflower theatre. There was an offer and they are hard to resist.

I am hosting the next challenge at the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge blog and I have chosen the theme Things with Wings.

I was asked to make a card for the 80th Birthday of one of my in-laws good friends. He was a Paratrooper and that's what they wanted for the theme of the card.

I had to do quite a bit of research for this card. I found the paratrooper badge and the some other bits on the computer. This is a Z-fold card. I do like making these.

This is a photo of the chap in question. He is very good to my husband's parents. They have even spent Christmas together a few times.

That is the Paratroopers badge and it has Wings. You can see the badge on the hat in the photo above this one.

I was quite surprised that this chap was 80 he really doesn't seem like it.

With some of the left over bits I made this card for the chap from my hubby and me.

I know he was thrilled with this card. He kept talking to people about it and showing them. It is nice when something you have made makes someone happy.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Enjoy the rest of the week.
