Not Just Cards - December Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello my Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Well Friday is here. It will be another quiet weekend for us. If the weather is good we will be able to get out for some walks.

The December Challenge starts today at the Not Just Cards Challenge Blog the theme is always Anything Goes. This is my last post for this challenge blog.  I had decided to step down but the decision has been made to close this Challenge blog. When this challenge finishes and the winners are announced the Challenge Blog will cease to be active.

Here is the Christmas card I made for my hubby. Usually I make his card first. This year has been so odd that his was one of the last ones I made.

For my hubby's retirement card I used an image with a shed on it from one of the HunkyDory Little books. You can see it HERE,   The image comes from a HunkyDory little book of Snowmen, It just seemed appropriate. There is a patterned paper in the background but is hard to see.

If you click on the logo you will be taken to the Challenge Blog.

This little image is so cute. We don't even have a shed.

The sentiment and the foliage was made with a die set that came free with a magazine I think last year.

I am not sure when I will give my hubby this card. We usually exchange cards sometime before Christmas.

Have a good weekend.

Happy Crafting

Not Just Cards Challenge blog - Anything Goes - October Challenge

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you are having a good weekend. We are having a quiet one there are still lots of jobs to catch up on. Our daughter and son-in-law still don't have a moving date so we still have the bunnies.

The October Challenge has just started at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog. The theme is Anything Goes. This is a card that I made for my uncle who is in a care home in Devon.

I do like making nautical themed cards. The patterned papers came from a paper pad I bought in The Works.

Our challenge are always fun. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

To create the frame I used the Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions. The scene was created with the Nautical Scenes die set that came free with a magazine some time ago.

I used the Stitched Flag dies from Creative Expressions to make this panel. The ship's wheel came from the Nautical Scenes die set.

I hope my uncle liked this card.

Enjoy your day.

Not Just Cards Challenge blog - September Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? I have been very busy. I think I have been out every day. Some of the evenings  have been busy too. At the weekend we are going to a socially distanced wedding. This will be an interesting experience.

The new challenge has started at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog the theme is always Anything Goes. So it is nice and easy to enter. There are no prizes but there is a badge to display on your blog if you are picked as a winner.

This is the anniversary card that I made for our daughter and son-in-law. I can't believe that they have been married for three years. The paper I used was in my stash.

Our challenges are lots of fun. Click on the blog logo and you will be taken there.

This image came from an old card. I just loved the cute hedgehogs so much. The little bows were in my stash too.

I know they thought this card was cute. Their next big adventure is when they move house for which they do not have a date yet.

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - August Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? It is still hot here. I really don't do much when it is hot. My laptop is in need of replacement. It gets hot very quickly and I have to leave a while to cool down. We have just started looking for a replacement. I do hope the laptop holds out until we get a new one.

Today sees the start of the the August challenge at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog. Our theme is always Anything Goes.

I made this card for a very special friend. In the background is some of my inky kitchen roll. I do love the blend of colours you get on kitchen roll when you are tidying up.

Our challenges are always Anything Goes. Click on the logo and you will be taken to the blog.

This is the centre of the Butterfly frame dies set from Creative Expressions. I have only used this die set once before. I really should use it more often. There is a separate butterfly die that comes with the set.

This is another Creative Expressions die. I do find this one very useful,

This is a very pretty card and my friend loved it.

Enjoy the rest of the week

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - July Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you are all well and doing okay. We had a lovely day out yesterday. We went to Furzey Gardens on the edge of the the New Forest in Hampshire. We met our friends there and we shared a lovely picnic together as well as getting coffee  in the cafe. It was so lovely to be out and to see some gorgeous plants. I was even able to buy a couple of plants for our garden. This year our garden has become very important to us like it has to many people.

Back to business the July challenge has started at the Not Just Cards Challenge Blog. The theme is the ever popular Anything Goes.

I have a friend who loves Star Trek (so do I). For her birthday I asked my daughter to draw my friend and her husband as characters from the Next Generation series of Star Trek. My daughter obliged. She has been drawing us as Star Trek characters for years. The moon in the background is my own photograph.  The stars I added were made with a die from the Champagne Bottle die set from the John Next Door range.
Our challenges are always fun. Click on the logo and you will be taken to the blog.

When my friend saw the image she was just so thrilled. I have asked my daughter to draw me some Doctor Who themed images. I know people like seeing themselves as their favourite characters.

There is a little story with the matching gift bag. My friend, saw a gift bag I made on Facebook and challenged me to make a Star Trek themed one. That's how it all started.

Have a great weekend.

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - June Challenge - Anything Goes - Father's Day Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? Yesterday we treated ourselves to a trip to Exbury Gardens in the New Forest. We haven't had a day out in so long. It did feel very weird driving further than we have for months. We had to pre-book our visit. Only 70 people are allowed in each hour. The Gardens are doing everything they can to keep people safe.

June is the month in which Father's Day falls. I do like to make something a bit special for my father-in-law he loves my cards and he always lets me know how much he likes them.

My father-in-law likes nautical themed cards. Wendy who is the Spanish Crafter (her blog is HERE) sent us a new year card with this design a while ago. I have been meaning to make one of these cards for a while. I have just found out that this style of card is called a Pull Up Accordion Card. I used my scoreboard to help me make the card.
Our challenges are always fun why not join us. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

I used an old card for the base and I added a greeting  cut with a Signature die.

I decorated all the parts before I assembled the card. It was so good having a made up card so that I could see what to do. It was also a great opportunity to use up lots of Snippets.

I have many nautical themed dies that I could use to decorate the sides. All the papers came from a pad that I bought in The Works it has proved to be very useful. At the time I had the foresight to buy two.

This shows the top of the card. I used one of the Cog dies from the John Next Door range to hold the ribbon in place.

Here is the base of the card where a message can be written,

I am not quite sure how my in-laws will get on with displaying this card. I know they will like it a lot though. They are always so encouraging.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - May Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Here we are at the beginning of another week. I hope you are all okay. It was my birthday at the weekend. I did have a lovely day. It strange how the simple things now seem to be so important. I was in touch with all the people that I care most about and that is what matters. We have also been doing an online Murder Mystery and the interrogation of the suspects was on Saturday evening.

Today the May challenge starts at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog and the theme is Anything Goes.

I was asked by a friend to make a gift bag and card for a one of their friends whose 50th Birthday Party they had been invited to. I made the gift bag to match the packaging on the gift that had been purchased. The papers I used are from an old set from Do-Crafts. The decoupage was in the set too. The card stock I used came from Anna Marie designs. I bought some 12" x 24" card from them and it is very useful for larger projects. It was nice to have something other than a card to share for the Not Just Cards Challenge blog.

Why not come and join in with our challenge. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

Here is the card that I made to match the bag and of course the present. I used the same paper set. I have had the papers for ages. It was good to use them. I used a mix for dies to personalise the card and the gift bag.

This is the picture our daughter drew for my birthday. I am a huge Star Trek fan. We knew her hubby was a keeper when he wanted to come to Destination Star Trek with us.

In the end the party was cancelled and these things had to be posted. As the plans for our friends and our plans had changed we invited our friends round for a meal and that is the last time we saw them. Of course we have kept in touch with Zoom chats. It is just isn't the same.

I would like to enter the following challenges.

Stay safe and take care.

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - April Challenge - Anything Goes - New Home Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are you getting on? We are fine. My hubby is now on leave. It has been strange today. We are still shopping for two older couples and I am checking up on an older lady who lives on her own. That is a well as trying to sort out the shopping for my parents. It is so hard to get those shopping slots.

The April challenge starts today at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog the theme is always Anything Goes. I made a card that I won't be needing for a while.

I do like to have New Home cards in my stash. In fact our Daughter and Son-in-Law are thinking of moving and were looking into this before the Corona Virus caught up with us all.  When I was shopping with a friend (remember when we used to be able to do that) and I spotted and had to have a huge roll of washi tape with houses on it. That is what I used to create the background for this card.

Why not join in with our fun easy challenge. If you click on the logo you will taken there.

I used the Heart of Hearts die set from Creative Expressions to make the big heart and its mat. The house die set came free with a magazine a while ago. The sentiment was cut with some Britannia dies.

Well I did enjoy making this card and making a start on the huge roll of washi tape.

On a personal note last year for my birthday I received a journalling bible. Well I hadn't touched the bible since I was given it. I did say that I have been following the doodling sessions run by Barbara Gray on Facebook. I have a lovely skill set of drawing skills that I can call on and  I used them to start my journal. I am going to start a page on my blog with my sketches. This really is something I never thought I would do.

Stay safe and well.

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - March Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I had some sad news yesterday my uncle passed away. It was quite sudden. My poor cousin lost her mum recently too. I can't believe all that they are going through. My dad starts day care today. Last week it sounded like he had a great time so I signed him up. There always seems to be so much to sort out.

Today I am hosting the new challenge at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog. The theme really is Anything Goes.

I based the theme of this card around the patterned paper I found in my nautical paper pad from The Works.

Why not join in with our challenge they are always fun. Click on the logo and you will be taken
there.

I used the Renmore die from the John Next Door range in the centre to show off the sentiment.

The flowers were made with the Cornflower die from the John Next Door range. The leaves were made with the Leafy Flourish die also from the John Next Door range.

I sent this card to a friend this week. I sure she has received it now. Those cornflowers are so pretty.
I have just noticed that this is my 1000th blog post. So many cards!

Enjoy the rest of the week

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - February Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? Strictly Live was fabulous. We had so much fun with our friends. My hubby is back home safe and sound now after his trip to York.

The February Challenge has stared are at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes.

I am sharing a first birthday card I made for the little lad of friends of ours. In fact they are the friends that are looking after our cow, along with others, in France.

I know it is a bit traditional to use blue for a boy. The paper was in in stash.

Our challenges are always fun. Click on the blog logo and you will be taken there.

This is such a cute image. It is from an LOTV pack of images that I have had for a while. I raided my scrap box for all the die cuts. I try hard not to start a new sheet of card just for small dies.

This is a Crafter's Companion die.

The Alphabet and Numbers are also Crafter's Companion dies.

This cute little bunting die came with the Crafter's Companion Advent calendar last year.

This card along with some presents went to France earlier this year.
