Celebrate

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. We popped up to see our daughter and her fiance about wedding invitations yesterday and today they are off to their venue for a food tasting. So wedding plans are moving along.

Today something exciting is happening the present leader and his wife is handing over to a new leader and his wife. We have got to know the new leaders quite well and I made them a card to celebrate this change. It will be a big difference  for church but a good one. The service for the handover will take place this morning.

I based this card on one I made for an ordination a while ago. I used Distress Ink on embossing to highlight the detail. I used the ivy die cuts to break up some of the lines.

I made with with a die that I won at the Pixie's Snippets Playground a few weeks ago. The die is from IO (Impression Obsession) it is called Birthday Top Edgers there are two other dies in the set.

I cut the Spellbinders cross die in gold and offset it with a brown one to give a shadow.

We popped the card through their door yesterday I hope they like it. I it was actually harder writing the message than making the card I needed my husband did help me. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, We are planning a quiet day after church my husband has a bit of a cold.

Owls for Christmas

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope that you are having a great weekend. We have spent our time catching up on lots of Christmas jobs like sorting cards and presents. Today will be more of the same.

On to the card. I was asked by someone to make her some Christmas cards with owls on them. This an updated version of a card I made last year but I couldn't find it on my blog so I am sharing this version.

I used two embossing folders in the background layers. The dark brown layer was embossed with my new wood grain embossing folder. I did cut the aperture with a circle die before I embossed the card.

The owls were stamped with an old Creative Expressions stamp that I got when I was on the Sam Poole Design Team. This time I stamped them with black archival onto water colour card and then coloured them with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I do love those pens. These owls are very easy to cut out.

You can just see the holly and the branches that I cut with some older festive dies designed by Sue Wilson.

The sentiment was cut with a Signature die.

I might have made this design before but I always make changes every time I make a design. This time I had a wood grain embossing folder. The lady I made the cards for loved them. I did make one of these for my in-laws as it has lots of texture.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Sparkly Butterflies

Hi My Crafter Blog Friends

How is your weekend going? Some of us have an extra day to look forward to and others of us have a whole week of half term coming.  Yesterday we visited both sets of parents. Today our daughter and her fiancé are coming to stay so we can all celebrate her birthday tomorrow. It should be lots of fun it is always nice to see them.

I have been playing with my  Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens again I just can't resist getting them out to play with and that Sheena Douglass butterfly stamp is so gorgeous.

I used three different embossing folders to make this card. I used the free one from the magazine again as it is easy to cut an aperture in the card before it is embossed. Then I can use the die that I used for the aperture as the centre on a frame for the same aperture. The background embossing folder is an older one by Creative Expressions. The fussy ribbon was in my stash it looks a bit like a skirt.

For the background to the aperture I used a Floral embossing folder by Crafter's Companion I used white Centura Pearl card and I coloured the raised areas with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. The butterflies were stamped with black archival ink onto water colour card and coloured with the Sparkle pens and some water and a brush. The butterflies were cut out by hand.

The sentiment was cut from a page of sentiments and mounted onto purple card.

Here are our furry house guests they are quite sweet and I think they enjoy being here.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Happy Crafting.

Alphabet Challenge Blog - Letter E for Embossing Folders

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

We have arrived at the weekend and a long one for some of us as well. We are hoping to go to a local garden, sometime at the weekend, to see the Spring flowers. On Monday we are visiting my parents to celebrate our birthdays that all come very close together. May is an expensive month.

Today a new challenge starts on the Alphabet Challenge blog the letter is E and the theme is Embossing Folders.

I was rather taken with the Beautiful Rose embossing folder and stamp set that came with issue 148 of Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine and this is what I used to make the main part of this card. I embossed the Beautiful Rose embossing folder on to white card and I cut an aperture in the card with a circle die. I cut a smaller circle in a darker pink card to fit inside the aperture. Behind the aperture I embossed some white care with the Bed of Roses embossing folder. All the embossing was inked to bring out the detail of the folders.

The Beautiful Rose was stamped onto watercolour card with black Archival ink. I used my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens to colour the image and then I used my Brother ScanNcut to cut it out and leave a border.

The Happy Birthday sentiment came with the Beautiful Rose set and it was stamped onto a Pierced Flag.

This shows some of the detail of the embossing folders.

It certainly is a beautiful rose this will be another card for my box of cards. I did enjoy colouring the rose I think I will be using this stamp a lot.

Have a great weekend.

Tattered Lace Autumn Trios Collection

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you have had a great weekend. We did get some of our Christmas shopping done.  We also went  to a brand new cinema in Whiteley it only opened on Thursday last week. It smelt new and the leg room is amazing the film was good too.

As you are probably already aware I sometimes make samples for Tattered Lace shows on Create and Craft TV. This weekend there was a mini weekender and I had sent in two lots of samples for these shows. The first set I am sharing today is from the Autumn Trios collection. Being Trios means that there are stamps, dies and a mini embossing folder that all match. In the big bundle there was also a CD rom that had images that match everything else.

Here are the samples I sent in altogether.

This is the sets before I opened them I didn't get the CD rom.

There are three sizes of leaf die the stamp and the embossing folder are in one size but it all works well together. I loved the Autumn Leaf set and I enjoyed making this CAS card the sentiment stamp is from Visible Image. The leaves were stamped on to white card and coloured with Distress ink. I do like that you can cut three leaves all at the same time.

I cut an aperture from some wood effect backing paper. I had to cut a frame for the aperture I don't like them plain. The Owls came from one set and I used the leaf embossing folder to make the background in the aperture. The leaves were all cut from kraft card and they were inked with Distress ink. This card was featured on Stephanie Weightman's Facebook page.

I used the leaf stamp to create the background for this tag. The leaves were left over from my CAS card.  I love making tags.

In each set of stamps there are some extra stamps I used those from the Lily Spray set to make the background for this card.

I did the same for this tag.

I used the Love Bird Berries to make this calendar. This time I didn't use the stamps.

It was fun watching for my makes on Create and Craft I spotted everything but the calendar.

Have a great week. I will be back soon with my other set of samples.

Happy Crafting

Confirmation Card for a Girl

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How was your weekend? Some shocking things have unfolded in France.

I am sharing the second card I made for the Confirmation Service last Sunday. This one was for a girl.

I used the Peony Blossom Charisma die and matching CD images as the focus for this card. I love this combination of colours. I chose the colour of the layers to match the colours of the flowers. The top pale blue layer was embossed with the Sue Wilson Rows of Bows Pinpoint embossing folder.

I cut a white oval for the centre of the card and embossed it with a small dotty embossing folder. The cross was cut with a Spellbinders die. I cut four of the images and arrange them around the oval.

I cut the letters with some Tonic alphabet dies. I added Candi to the corners of the card.

This was the same size as the card for the boy and the names were placed in the same place. The Vicar was pleased when I dropped the cards off on Friday. I wasn't at the service to see the Confirmation which was a shame I had rather a lot to do.

I do hope that you have a good week.

Happy crafting.

Dusky Pink and Dusky Blue Wedding Card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Here we are half way through the week I hope it is working our well for you. I fitted in some crafting yesterday. Having some of my crafty stash organised in the new unit does make things easier. Now I want some more storage for the rest of my bits and pieces.

My daughter has been invited to a wedding and she asked me to make a card for the happy couple. The colours I have used are the colours chosen for the wedding.

I used two different embossing folders on the white mats, The ribbon was a one I bought at a craft fair it has a sparkle to it.

I bought the  Tattered Lace mini dies from Create and Craft that were being offered at 90%  and this is one of them. There were 20 dies altogether I think most of them will be useful.

The dies I used for the hearts were originally meant for cutting icing they cut paper just as well. The initials were cut with my Tonic letter dies.

I do think this card looks vaguely patriotic. My daughter was pleased with it and that's all that matters.

I hope the rest of the week is kind to you. Don't the weeks seem to be whizzing by. I do like the longer days I seem to get more done.

Happy Crafting
