Owl cards made with Pollyanna Pickering images

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I hope it is going well. I must say I am quite relieved that the snow has gone. It does seem to have taken a while for the supermarkets to restock with the basics.

From time to time someone I know who is a Brownie Pack Leader asks for cards with owls on them to give to the other  leaders for their birthday.  I was asked recently and then I found I needed to make some more. Where better to go than my collection of Pollyanna Pickering images.

To add to this gorgeous image I added the small corner lattice dies from John Next Doors Sandwich box die set and the star flower leaves.

I used the corner dies again and papers from Creative Crafting World.

I have had this Card Popper pad for a while. The images are brilliant for quick cards and married with the matching paper pad.

This owl came from the same pad.

Lots of people like cards with pictures of owls on them and these cards are a good size for posting they are going to be very useful. in fact one of them is in the post already.

Enjoy the rest of the week. It is hard to believe the snow was on its way last week.

Owls for Christmas

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope that you are having a great weekend. We have spent our time catching up on lots of Christmas jobs like sorting cards and presents. Today will be more of the same.

On to the card. I was asked by someone to make her some Christmas cards with owls on them. This an updated version of a card I made last year but I couldn't find it on my blog so I am sharing this version.

I used two embossing folders in the background layers. The dark brown layer was embossed with my new wood grain embossing folder. I did cut the aperture with a circle die before I embossed the card.

The owls were stamped with an old Creative Expressions stamp that I got when I was on the Sam Poole Design Team. This time I stamped them with black archival onto water colour card and then coloured them with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I do love those pens. These owls are very easy to cut out.

You can just see the holly and the branches that I cut with some older festive dies designed by Sue Wilson.

The sentiment was cut with a Signature die.

I might have made this design before but I always make changes every time I make a design. This time I had a wood grain embossing folder. The lady I made the cards for loved them. I did make one of these for my in-laws as it has lots of texture.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Fantasy Stampers - Fright Night

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

The weekend is here! We are off to the Isle of Wight for a party. It is a surprise party for an  old friend who we haven't seen for a while, his children have done all the arranging.  We are travelling there with friends so it should be a good weekend.

Today sees the start of a new challenge on the Fantasy Stampers Challenge Blog and the theme is Fright Night (Halloween). I should point out that I don't really do Halloween it makes me rather uncomfortable.

This is a cute little card just 6" x 6". The stamp I used was Silhouette Owl Tree by Little Claire Designs. I did think that if you came across a tree of owls in the night all making a noise it would be rather frightening.
I started with a black card blank and I cut all the mats and layers, On the top white mat used a mask I had made and inked the page with my brushes to get the purple where I wanted it I also used a post-it note mask for the moon.

This I used Black Soot Distress on this little wooden owl.

The tree was stamped with Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a black sparkly powder. The edge round the image was drawn with a Perfect Medium pen and heat embossed with the same powder.

I do love using silhouettes in my cards they give very dramatic results either die cuts or stamps.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

Fishing for a Happy Birthday

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How has your week been so far? I went back to work on Monday and that evening when I got in I had the most  awful headache it was so bad I couldn't do anything so I have got a bit behind with my crafting and commenting.

On Tuesday I felt better and I made this card for a friend's birthday. He likes fishing so it has a fishing theme.

I have had this Forever Friends image for a while now it is so nice to know someone who will appreciate it. I started by making the background I stamped a variety of stamps with Perfect Medium and they were then heat embossed with a metallic green powder. Finally I inked over the page with two shades of blue distress ink.

I have a memory box die set that comes with a tree, two owls and some leaves they are fun to use.

Here is the cute little bear who looks rather like he might go to sleep.

At the moment this is my favourite Happy Birthday stamp it fits so well into my Spellbinder matting and basics dies making the mats easy to make.

I hope my friend likes the little scene I have created.

I would like to enter the challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz this week the theme is "Birds".
I would also like to join in with Pixie's Snippets Playground weeks 178 and 179.

I hope the rest of the week is kind to you.

My cards in Create and Craft Magazine

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a good week. You might be relieved to know that I eventually went to the doctors and I am now on antibiotics. I am not completely better but I feel that I am on the mend. I should be fit in time to go back to work. I do feel like I need a holiday to recharge my batteries. That's enough moaning.

I was thrilled that my cards are featured in the current issue of Create and Craft Club Magazine. I am pleased with the article and I think the photography is excellent.

I was sent some questions to answer and I did this as fully as I could and some how they made an article out of it. I had to send in my cards so they could be professionally photographed. I sent about eight items and they chose four. I think the stamps by Sam Poole look fantastic.

I though you might like to see the original cards and  the wall hanging.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope the rest of the week is good for you. I do hope that we keep the sun.

Owls at Christmas

Hi Bloggers

I have just finished a Christmas card commission and I'm rather pleased with myself. The girl who comes to the house to give me  Sports Massages (I have trouble neck and shoulders) saw a card I had made featuring two owls and she asked me to make her six for Christmas.

This is the card she saw it was actually one of the pieces I
submitted when I was accepted onto Sam Poole's Design team. She wanted six Christmas cards with hardly any changes. The original card was 8" x 8".

This is what I came up with I did make some changes to make it a bit more Christmassy and they are just a little bit smaller.  The background embossing  is from a Sue Wilson A4 embossing folder.

Aren't the owls cute they are stamps from Sam Poole's woodland creatures series I coloured them with Promarkers.

The holly and branches were cut with some of the new release Sue Wilson Christmas dies. I made the berries with CS Pearl PVA glue.

Here they are together on the shelf, I am going to put the first one away so she can't compare. I hope she likes them if she doesn't I will have 6 cards I can use myself.

Enjoy the weekend. If you read my previous post you will know we are off to Destination Star Trek tomorrow. There is a group of about 8 of us going. It should be fun. I will post some pictures when we get back

Owls having fun.

The owl stamps are designed by Sam Poole for Creative Expressions. They are brilliant to work with the detail is amazing. I stamped the owls and sentiment with Black Archival and heat embossed it with a clear embossing powder then I coloured them with Promarkers. I embossed the Beach Trees mask on to a paper with a core that I sanded back and then inked. I used another embossing folder to create the texture on the darker brown card which I also sanded and inked. I cut an aperture with a spellbinders die and then I cut a frame using two dies. Apart from the label die, which came free with a magazine, all the dies I used  are Spellbinders. I used Centura Pearl card for the matting and layering I even used my piercing ruler to pierce the edge of one of the mats.

I had so much fun with these stamps that I had a go at a couple of other projects. I thought I would add the to this post. The decorated heart is a first for me. I was really pleased with the background on the fox card so I didn't add much detail to the card so it wasn't  covered up too much.

Thank you for looking at my blog.

Memory Box Owl Birthday Card

I was lucky enough to be give a stash of card that I raided for this card. The owl came from the Memory Box set Heart Owl Tree. I just used the owl and cut it out many times in lots of different card. I found some scripted paper in my stash and cut out the backgrounds for the owls. I ink with distress inks rusty hings and walnut stain. I tend to blend my inks to get the colour I want. I used red tape, pinflair gel glue and Aleene's turbo tacky glue to stick it all together. The card blank was made with a piece of A3 centura pearl card. The finished card is 8 x 8 inch. I have plans to make some smaller cards with this design.

Thanks for looking.
