Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!  This is such a special time of the year and for most of us, we really hope to see snow on Christmas day.  This is pretty rare in the south.  This card is for those of you who have been dreaming of a white Christmas.

The background is using Color Bursts and the Galaxy Technique.  I used Indigo, Ultramarine Blue, Merlot, and Yellow Ochre on watercolor paper.  After adding the water droplets to the background, I splattered it with a little Platinum Liquid Metals.  This gave a great shimmer to some spots which sadly does not show up in the pictures.

The Just For Fun new Silhouette Pines image, along with the Joy To The World from the Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet, were stamped with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with detail white powder.  To me this looked like a snow scene with the northern lights in the background.

Whether you have snow or not, cold or warm, I hope you have a very blessed Christmas.

Just For Fun December Challenge

I know we just celebrated Thanksgiving, but December has snuck up on us and it is time for a new challenge at the Just For Fun Blog.  It will be so easy to enter this challenge with the theme of “Happy Everything - Holiday of your Choice”

I am in the Christmas spirit, so I am sharing a Christmas card.  Just for Fun Rubber Stamps has this new image, Silhouette Pines, and I had two Snowflake Ring Memory Box dies I couldn’t wait to use.  Both size ring dies were cut from white cardstock.  The pines image was stamped and heat embossed with detail white embossing powder on blue cardstock.  This was cut out with a Spellbinders’ Classic Circle die and the large Snowflake Ring was layered on top.  The sentiment, from the JFF Sentiments1 Unmounted Sheet, was stamped with Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink onto the white center of the smaller Snowflake Ring.  This was inserted back into the die cut.  Additional ink was lightly sponged on both die cuts.

The blue cardstock for the background was run through a Sizzix Holiday Knitembossing folder.  The edges were sponged with white ink.  Both Snowflake Rings were added to the front and this was added to a dark blue layer and the white card base.

Head on over to the Just For Fun Blog to be inspired by more holiday cards and find all the details for the challenge.  I will be looking for your creations.

One Last Christmas Card

Merry Day after Christmas.  Sure hope everyone had a wonderful time yesterday with friends and family.  I know I did.  I thought I would share one more Christmas themed card inspired by my parents.  They used to love going camping and would come visit us and park their big camper in our back yard.  The new little camper image from Just For Fun was perfect for this.

Dark blue was used for the background and was die cut with a star background die.  This was layered on yellow to show the stars.

The tree is the Stamptangle Christmas Tree, also from JFF. It was stamped on the blue background, then stamped a second time on a paint chip.  This was fussy cut and layered on top of the original.  The star was stamped on yellow, fussy cut, and heat embossed with Sparkle EmbossingPowder to make it sparkle.  This same embossing powder was added to the circular ornaments hanging from the tree.

The JFF CMP-Round Camper was watercolored and fussy cut.  The Sparkle EP was added to the little Christmas lights.  A glitter pen was used on the metal areas.

The “celebrate” was die cut from red cardstock and heat set with Sparkle EP.

Have a wonderful time relaxing after all the Christmas activities.

Coffee Joy

This week is the 2016 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop so I have been working on some coffee themed cards.  As a result, today's card is a mix of elegance and fun.  The elegance comes from the delicate, dry embossed background and decorative, elongated ornaments with bows.  The fun comes from the addition of the little coffee cups.

Just For Fun's Stamptangle Teardrop Ornaments were colored with a mix of watercolors and Copic Markers.  They were fussy cut and popped up on the card front.  The Cup of Joe , also from JFF, was stamped with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink, punched out with a circle punch, and also popped up.

The Joy To The World sentiment comes from JFF's Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet.  It was stamped with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on coordinating cardstock and layered on blue. I actually had another sentiment in mind, but lost the stamp in the mess on my craft table.  Decided this one would work just as well.  Being a coffee lover, it definitely brings joy to my world.

I know a few other coffee lovers that will love a Christmas card like this.

Holiday Lamp

Christmas in July always gets me inspired to get a start on my Christmas cards.  This is the theme this month for the Just For Fun Monthly Challenge so I thought I would share another card I made for my favorite holiday.

I used some lovely blue cardstock with a white core and ran it through an embossing folder.  The raised area was sanded to bring out the white core and then the outer edges were inked.  Spellbinders’ Laced with Love Blooming Collection Etched Die was used to create the white frame.

The Just for Fun image, Christmas Lantern, was stamped in blue and die cut with Spellbinders Classic Oval die.  This was layered on a slightly larger blue oval that was inked around the edges.  A little yellow glow was added to the lantern with a Copic Marker.

The sentiment, from the Just For Fun's Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet, was also stamped in blue and die cut with JustRite’s Spellbinders Nested Sentiment die.  The edges were inked and small blue jewels were added.

If Kisses Were Snowflakes...

It is Christmas In July at Sparkle N Sprinkle with all the new Christmas sets.  E. Marie here to share a card using the new Christmas set, Milton Catching Snowflakes.  This guy is adorable with his scarves and comes with four great sentiments.

I chose to create a “gap” card since I have seen so many great samples lately.  Most of these cards actually leave an actual gap between the top and bottom front sections, held together by an image or sentiment, but I chose to support this one with a piece of acetate.

After adding decorative cardstock on the top and bottom layers, Dimensional Glue was run around the edges and Twinkling Clouds Sparkle N Soft was added to look like snow.

The image was heat embossed with Detail Black embossing powder and colored with Copic markers.  Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter was added to the scarves and snowflake using a glue pen.  This was layered to the right side of the card.

I used the digital version of this set to print the sentiment and layered this on the inside of the card so the sentiment would show in the open gap.  Here is a picture of the inside.  I added white layers on the inside top and bottom of the card front to make it look neater and cover any exposed adhesive from adding the acetate.

I know you will love playing with this card style and hope you enjoyed seeing this cute set.

Just For Fun July Challenge - Christmas In July

July has arrived and it is time for a new challenge at Just For Fun Rubber Stamps Blog.  What is better than Christmas in July with Sparkle.  It was so hot by me that it was refreshing to create a Christmas card.

For this card the Just for Fun Bells and Holly image was colored with Copic Markers and layered on green and white.  A little sparkle was added using a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen.  I also added a little ink splatter to coordinate more of the background layer coloring.  The simple sentiment, from the Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet, was layered along the bottom.

The background design was created by stamping and heat embossing the Holly Background in white on watercolor paper.  Then Brusho Crystal Colors were added.  After coloring the little berries, a little more sparkle was added to each leaf with the Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen. You can see a little of this on the right side of the picture.

Head on over to the Just For Fun Rubber Stamps Blog to get all the details of the challenge and get more inspiration from my fellow designers.

I look forward to seeing what you create!

My card features the Christmas Skates Digital Set.  This was printed in black on white cardstock and colored with Copic Markers.

Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter was added to the little berries with a Glue Pen, giving them a slightly frosted look and the edges were inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink.  This was layered on a piece that distressed on the edges, run through an embossing folder, and sponged with Distress Ink.  The red layer beneath was created with white cardstock sponged with Fired Brick Distress Ink.

The image and layers were placed on a piece of Sticker Paper with the right side punched with a holly leaf border punch.  Meadow Spark glitter was added to the remaining exposed adhesive and this was centered on the card.

The printed sentiment was inked around the edges with more Antique Linen Distress Ink, layered on dark green, and adhered to the card corner.

These new sets are a perfect start to those Christmas cards and I hope the projects you see on this hop inspire you to get started.
