Winter Cardinal

Even though the weather by me has been really nice, we ended up with cold rain and a little ice this weekend.  Perfect time to share a winter card.  The Large Cardinal stamp, from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps, was used on this card and even though this is in their Christmas themed images, it can be used for so much more.

A white, embossed background was created to show off this brightly colored cardinal.  It was colored with Copic markers and die cut with Spellbinders’ Label 4.  After adding to the card front, it was surrounded by additional die cut/punched snowflakes and a simple sentiment (from JFF's Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet).  This card is perfect for this time of the year but can be used for any occasion – Birthday, Get Well, Sympathy - by simply changing the sentiment.

Have a wonderful week.

Just For Fun November Challenge

Just For Fun Rubber Stamps has a new challenge for the month of November.  Use the colors “Brown, Orange, and Red”.

I decided to share a Thanksgiving card since this holiday doesn’t get a lot of attention and I really enjoy it.  Two of Just For Fun’s new stamps, Harvest Bundle and Wild Turkey, were used.  The Harvest Bundle was stamped with Peanut Butter Memento Ink on cream cardstock.  The edges were sponged with more Peanut Butter ink and some Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.  The orange and brown layers were also sponged on the edges with Rich Cocoa and Morocco ink.

The turkey was stamped with Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic Markers.  After fussy cutting, it was popped up on the card front.  The JFF sentiment, Happy Thanksgiving, was stamped with Morocco ink in the top corner.

Head on over to the Just For Fun Blog for all the challenge details and more “Brown, Orange, and Red” inspiration.

Just For Fun October Challenge

Though it still doesn’t feel much like Fall where I live, October is here and hopefully the cooler weather will catch on soon.  It is time for a new challenge at the Just For Fun Blog and October brings thoughts of ghosts and goblins so the new challenge is “Halloween.

Just For Fun Rubberstamps has some adorable new Halloween stamps in their upcoming release.  I used three of these for this challenge theme.

The three square images were colored with Copic Markers, fussy cut, and layered on orange and crème polka dot.

The images were then centered on additional coordinating Halloween designer cardstock.  Small black spiders were die cut and added.

Check out some ideas from my fellow designers and get all the challenge details on the JFF Blog.

Just For Fun's September Monthly Challenge

Happy Labor Day Weekend!  Do you have fun plans for the weekend?  I haven’t thought past putting my pajamas on and getting some extra sleep.  School has started and I am back to work and exhausted already.  Actually it is just adjusting to an earlier schedule.  Just For Fun’s new September Challenge fits right in with a Back To School theme.

I was with my friends at our favorite scrapbook store recently and found this cute cardstock from Echo Park Paper Co.  I thought it would make the perfect background to enhance my back to school Paint Brushes. I used the front and back of one piece to create the school supply strips on top of the alphabet background.

The JFF Paint Brushes image was colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut.  I added layers of black and this really helped the image pop.  I used a Zig marker to color and stamp just part of the Colorful and Happy... sentiment, from JFF.  This was layered and adhered along the bottom.  This how I hope each day is for my students.

Check out the challenge details and more inspiration on the blog, here.

Owl Be There!

Last month I shared a card using Just For Fun's StampTangle Tri-Circle Block.  Today’s card uses it again in a different way.

The StampTangle Tri-Circle Block was inked with several different green Distress Inks and stamped on white cardstock.  This was fussy cut and layered on yellow cardstock with the Owl Be There For You sentiment, from JFF, stamped in brown along the side.

JFF's small Stamptangle Fancy Owl was stamped three times with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink and colored with Copic Markers.  Super easy to color.  These were fussy cut and parts of two images were tucked behind the Tri-Circle Block, peaking out of the small circle windows.  The remaining full image was adhered in front of the largest circle window, along with the fussy cut Branch from JFF.

Have a great weekend!

Happy To "Sea" You

I just had the most wonderful weekend, playing/stamping with my friends.  This is a card I created using Just For Fun’s StampTangle Tri-Circle Block.  It has three circles that make great windows for images and sayings and is also perfect for a shaker card.  I inked this stamptangle image with three different Distress Ink colors, though the variation in colors is hard to see in the pictures.

After fussy cutting and cutting out the circle windows, a piece of clear acetate was adhered to the back.  This was popped up with foam tape over a white rectangle, stamped with the Happy to Sea You sentiment from JFF, and run through a bubble embossing folder.  Extra foam tape was placed all around the top circle to create a small shaker window.  This was layered on brightly striped cardstock from Graphic 45’s Sun Kissed collection.

JFF's Stamptangle Fancy Fish (Small) was stamped twice with Paris Dusk Memento Ink and colored with Copic Markers.  These were fussy cut and adhered to the card front.

Thanks for stopping by!

Beach and Coffee

Happy Memorial Day.  So many families are spending this long weekend at the beach so I thought I would create a card with a beach theme.  It is also time for the 2018 Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop so I mixed it up with a coffee theme, too.  Coffee is a vital part of my relaxing weekend.

I used the Coffee Background from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps.  It was inked with various Distress Inks to coordinate with the colors I planned to use for the sunset.  This was stamped first and then the same colors were sponged on top.  Darker blue and brown were sponged around the edges.

JFF's Adirondack Sunset image was stamped in brown twice.  The first image was sponged with Distress Inks to coordinate with the Coffee background.  On the second image the sun was sponged with Distress Ink and the chair was colored with Copic Markers.  These were both fussy cut and layered onto the inked image.

Using dark brown Memento Ink, the “May your day be filled...” sentiment from JFF was stamped on a white rectangle.  Distress Inks were sponged over and around it.  It was layered on blue, along with the Adirondack Sunset Image and then layered on top of the Coffee Background.  A small Sizzix coffee cup was die cut, sponged with ink, and added with fiber.

Have a wonderful week.

Smile

Seems like the weather cannot make up its mind if it is spring or winter.  In my area it has been lovely the last few days.  The flowers are in full bloom and it is so beautiful.  I decided to share a card showing some lovely blooms using the Jar Daisies image.  I have been taking some Copic classes and decided to use some of what I learned to color this.

The Small Canning Jar was stamped on heavy vellum and fussy cut.  A little color was added on the back and it was placed over the flower stems.  A die cut “smile” was added to a banner and layered across the jar front.  To be honest, I had planned to simply place the smile die cut on the jar but made a little mistake and needed to cover it up.  Mistakes bring out our creativity.

Hope you are having lovely weather in your area.

Need Another Birthday Card

The card theme I use the most is Birthday.  It seems like there is always someone I know celebrating another year and I need a birthday card for them.  When I color an image or create a card design I really like, I try to make duplicates to keep on hand.  Adding some variation to the card layout helps me create additional cards.

I recently helped celebrated my friend, April Williams', birthday so I needed to make her a card.  I wanted to use the Three Delightful Cupcakes image from Just For Fun so I stamped it with Memento Ink and colored with Copic Markers.

After adding glitter to the cupcakes, this was layered on  some designer birthday paper, along with JFF's The Best Things in Life... sentiment.  Fun and easy, and perfect for a man, woman, or child.

I really liked how the cupcakes came out and still had some of the designer paper so I created a 2nd card.  I needed a card for a  a sketch

so decided to combine both.

I used all the same colors but changed the layout to match the sketch, added some ribbon, and used JFF's ...cupcake kind of day sentiment.

Which card is your favorite?

Just For Fun April Challenge

Happy Easter!

This is one of my favorite holidays.  It is a celebration of new beginnings, offered to each of us through God’s love and sacrifice.

It is also a new month, with the beginning of a new challenge at Just For Fun Rubber Stamps blog.  We are celebrating Spring, bringing new beginnings for plants, trees, and flowers, so we are looking for your projects featuring “Spring Flowers”.

My card features Just For Fun’s Lily image.  A portion of this image was stamped with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on the edge of a piece of white cardstock.  This was masked and the image stamped again.  The flowers and background were colored with Copic Markers.

After layering on purple cardstock on the white card base, a simple die cut cross was added.  Spellbinders’ Shapeabilities Crosses die was used and a little gold was rubbed on top to bring out the design and give it an aged look.

Have a lovely Easter.

Easter Cross

Today I want to share a card, using one of my favorite Easter stamps from Just For FunEaster Cross.

The card background was created with a piece of cream cardstock, die cut and layered on purple.  Gold was added behind the die cut center and pieces of gold and cream were layered on the front center.

The image was stamped with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on cream cardstock.  After coloring with Copic Markers, it was fussy cut and centered on the card front.

Have a lovely week and a blessed Easter.

Just For Fun March Challenge

It is time for a new challenge at the Just For Fun blog.  The March challenge is so easy – use a die cut!

I chose to use the Delicate Garden Frame die from Sue Wilson.  I love her dies.  I cut it out in white and used it to surround the JFF Brushed Floral image.  The image and background were colored with Copic Markers, along with the small die cut flowers.  A glitter pen was used to add a little sparkle to the middle of each flower.  The butterfly is also part of the die set.

Pull out your dies and stamp images and show us what you have created.  You can find all the challenge info here.

Just For Fun November Challenge

Halloween has flown by and it is time for the November Challenge at the Just For Fun Blog.  The theme is Thanksgiving, along with Family and Travel.

I used three different Just for Fun stamp images for this card.  The small Stamptangle Pumpkin and the Stamptangle Tall Pumpkin were stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed in gold on decorative cardstock.  The corn and wheat from the new Harvest Bounty were also heat embossed in gold and colored with Copics.  All were fussy cut and layered on a large red circle, die cut with a Spellbinders’ Circle Nestability.

The background is layers of two designer cardstocks, brown cardstock and a cream card base.  The front yellow layer was edged with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with more gold EP.  The JFF Happy Thanksgiving sentiment was added to the top.

We would love for you to share your cards for the JFF November Challenge.  Find more details, inspiration, and the link on the blog, here.

Just For Fun October Challenge

Time is a flying and now it is time for bats and witches.  October has arrived and Just For Fun Rubber Stamps has a new challenge for this month on their blog and it is all about “Halloween”.

My card uses JFF’s new Witches Magic.  After stamping with Memento Ink, the image was colored with Copic Markers and die cut using Spellbinders’ Nestabilities Art Deco Astoria Labels Etched Dies.

Ink was sponged around all the edges and the image was added to layers of designer paper.  I had this cute little vial of little black star sequins that were added to the card.

Head on over to the Just For Fun blog to see more creations from my fellow designers, along with all the details of the challenge.
