I'm bored, Let's go somewhere!

Apparently Cole decided that he was owed a trip since he stayed home yesterday while we went to the quilt show.  I'll let him tell you the story....
Yep, I gave them the intense poodle stare all day on Sunday until they finally got the picture.

The poodle needed to go somewhere.
I packed them up in the car and we went for a little walkabout at my fave shopping center.
First stop, Arhaus Furniture,  where ALL the employees LOVE me. I mean, they come over and pet me and tell my pawrents they should give me better treats and stop making me wear a leash and not give me baths.

At least I think that's what they were saying...
Check out this bed...

now I like my comfort but this seems like a few too many throw pillows on a bed to me. Then we saw this light...

I told Momma to get a picture to show you... it smelled like, what is that, oh yeah! The Beach!
Sea Shells all artistically organized!

After I finished looking at everything, and licked all my new friends goodbye, we walked on.

Suddenly I had a weird feeling....
yikes!
Did I hear scissors? I just had a bath!
Keep walking Daddy!

I had just decided to throw mommy a bone, and let her go into Anthropologie when we saw this....

For Barking out loud!  It's a cute little maltese in a stroller!! This guy is so teeny he was standing up while his momma pushed him around. Sweet ride!
He squeaked at me so I rushed over to give him a sniff. Isn't he cute? Can I have him?? Please let me have him!

He and I talked the people into letting us do the pee-dance. First he went over to the tree, then I went over to the tree and that little guy can really lift a leg! There was a lot of sniffing going on, especially when he walked right under my stomach. I haven't walked under a dog since I was a young'un!
We had a nice conversation, dog style, man to man until his mom put him back in the stroller and gave him a drink out of his own glass. I mean, how is it this guy gets carted around in style... is he a king or something?

Mom, Dad and I visited a few more stores, and  I acknowledged the paparazzi who all wanted to pet me,
until I was satisfied with my outing then we went home for a big bowl of kibble. I'm so glad they finally realized what I wanted all day, to go on a field trip!

I wonder if I would like to have a dog of my own... maybe for Christmas. Santa??

The sky is falling...Cole Little

This is my sad true tale of "The Week of too many loud Noises"
A friend of my mom's asked if I was losing my hearing over time... you know older gentlemen often do.

I'd say, no.
Let me explain... it was a dark and stormy night
The thunder and lightening  started after we all went to bed last week...

Here is my little bed, next to where the "big dog" sleeps, so I can keep an eye on him and the door. And if I happen to fall off the bed it's not a big drop.

On this night the big dog was snoring and the medium dog just turned out her light, then the sky opened up. Well, one of my jobs is to alert them to loud noises, so I got up and stood by the big bed.

Just to make sure they were aware, you know. Not that I was scared or anything.

Momma said, bring him up between us.
Now I'm a poodle who normally likes his own space but they seemed scared so I thought I would throw them a bone so to speak, and comfort them here in the big bed.

I seldom like that, I mean they take up so much room. I made sure I had lots of room in case I wanted to stretch in the night, so I placed myself between them, laying totally sideways, head on their pillows, flopped down quickly playing dead so no one could push me over. Then I petted Momma, who I was facing. I gently caressed her face with my scratchy rough foot til she held hands with me.

I knew she needed that reassurance so she could sleep.
Dad squeezed in the other side, and could have been chilly as I took up all the slack in the quilt. They would be fine, I mean after all I was there to protect them, up close and personal-like.

It was all good, everyone went back to sleep, then I had some dreams that required running. I like those but my peeps seem to get annoyed. Dad got up again. Then when he couldn't get back to sleep he read a book. Fine, now HE's on watch so I really relaxed.

Do you all ever sleep with your peeps? Don't you hate thunder? Don't even get me started on the eeejits in our 'hood who shoot off fireworks til midnight! Grrrrrrr

If you want me, I'm in my nest...

What would the caption be here??
If you need me I'll be in my nest?
I was wasting some time letting the TV suck intelligence from me, while I played games on the IPAD when I glanced up and saw this.

He's never reclined this way before, with forearms on his pillow facing his toy box. Maybe he was wishing he had a poodle version of an IPAD.
"Angry Squirrels!"  "Critter Match" "Word games for Poodles"
Cole is waaaay overdue for grooming. He is really cute and really smelly. It would appear that being an (ahem) older pup he just might dribble a bit when he pees. I know he stores food particles in that 'stash, like many men. (have I told you how much I dislike the trend to the unkempt beards??)
So even though there was snow and ice outside, and we cut his hair on the front porch, we buckled down and gave him a bath yesterday.
POOR my husband!
Afterwards, even though dusk was approaching early from cloud cover, we three went to the porch where Cole had to suffer the indignity of having his nether parts shaved.
NO ONE ENJOYS THIS
I put on my hazmat suit, face mask and do my best to shave a very intimate area. Poodle hair grows almost everywhere. And curls. And clean poodle hair floats in the air like dust.
We had to stop at shaving the face and er, important areas and forego the rest of him for later. Then we went for a little walk before dark, and he fairly DANCED.

I figured he was thinking " Wow felt like I was only being groomed for a minute this time, and mom only nicked me once! No Feet?!? Score!!"
Poor boy! Little does he know today, the grooming continues. LeeAnna
