Wave 106 is GO!!!

  Wave 106 is live!

Note: Please place only ONE ORDER WITHIN THE FIRST HOUR TONIGHT. We will lift all limits after the first hour. Thanks for your cooperation. Have Fun!

We are still only shipping domestically (and to Canada) for this wave. We sincerely apologize to our international customers for the situation.

Back from the Past

To keep pace with the chaotic unknown that continues to unfold across the planet, we're going to spring a little surprise release out there tonight, April 17th at 9:30PM EDT with the intention of offering a temporary space to have a bit of fun within the current hell capsule that we're all navigating.

This will be a proper mini assortment, so we'll officially call it Wave 106, though it's a bit different than our usual rollouts, as it features a couple "countermeasure" figures that contain parts from long retired molds in combination with currently active ones.

Back in 2012 and 2013, we disposed of the original Govurom head mold (final runs in 2012) and the first Exellis head/chest/pelvis mold (final runs in 2013). Right before we closed those molds down, we produced some secret runs of the parts, holding them back for all these years, waiting for the right time for their release. Though assorted Govurom heads have popped up as random freebies in orders over the last decade, we never ran a "Standard" Govurom full production figure that reflected his appearance in the first Passcode and the first Custom Corps

Well, after 13 years, Govurom finally gets his moment tonight, decked out in extra paint, poncho armor (thanks Jesse D and Erwin) and a soft goods "Renegade" cloak. Accompanying the craggy half-Traveler/half-Sincroid will be the "Last Exellis", using central components that were run back in 2013 and never released until now. To round out Wave 106 we'll also have a third figure available, which connects directly to the ultimate fate of old Govurom.

If you're a longtime fan of Glyos, then this little assortment might be an extra special one for you.

Mission Details

After a few delays with some overseas shipping, everything is finally in place for the new assortment to roll out!

This wave has a few special points of interest, a major one being our first crossover production run of Toyfinity's Maxx Zero, from their Robo Force line. Due to the combined creative development of Maxx Zero, the core figure was loaded with many hidden configurations while being prototyped by Ron and I at the shop. One particular build, the Gendrone Force Defender, was designed to eventually surface in our ongoing story arc. The idea behind this specific form centers around a lost piece of Old War technology discovered by Argen while mining the database of a prototype Buildstation located in the Sendollest Drifts for information. Argen soon puts the Gendrone Force Defender into full production, pulling it from obscurity to join the ranks of the Gendrone Rebellion. Special thanks go out to John Kent and the Toyfinity team for sharing the mechanical madness that is Robo Force with us!

The other focus for this wave is of course the metallic Ultra Bronze, which is meant to evoke an AD&D/Golden Axe/Ray Harryhausen vibe. Forged in the metallic Ultra Bronze PVC, both Skeleden and the Neo Granthan in particular are inspired by the days of playing Sega's Golden Axe while on my lunch break during the dreaded days of summer school. Hopefully this new hue adds some fun to the mix!

We are still on track for this Tuesday, March 31st at 9:30PM EDT.

Mini Murk

Cliff Travels

Elder Exellis recently spent some downtime exploring the Cliffs of Granthan (aka Gloucester).

This small nook is where I've been playing with toys since I was about 6 years old. Whenever I visit Gloucester up on the North Shore, it's the first place I go. Many of my favorite "rock ships" are still wedged (docked) in the cracks, even after all this time.

Mini Mission Details

We've been working on so many things over here that I just realized a quick list was still in order!

It's a tiny one:

Lost Sincroid Army

Lost Sincroid Army -Standard (Green/ Pale Yellow/ Dark Green painted limbs/detail lines/ painted eyes/ removable belt/ small scarf/ Elder Exellis head/ Dark Traveler Head/ Dark Traveler scarf) $10

Lost Sincroid Army -Granthan Corps (Pale Yellow/ Orange/ Black painted head/detail lines/ painted eyes/ removable belt/ small scarf/ Black painted Elder Exellis head/ Pale Yellow Dark Traveler Head/ Pale Yellow Dark Traveler scarf/ Extra paint accents) $12

???? -$12

This small wave has been something that I've dreamed about for many years. The colors are strange and the characters are odd, but these Sincroids mean a lot to us over here.

I could only ever dream of being able to play with an actual battalion of LSA, back when I was working on Rechlen and Aves almost a decade ago.

The paint work on these new LSA figures is some of the tightest to come out of our factory yet, and we even tried a few new things for these editions. Extra paint has been used in areas that we normally do not paint, such as the Standard LSA arms and thighs as well as the strange black heads on the Granthan Corps LSA. It took quite some time to finish up this order, and multiple revisions and tweaks happened all along the way. We'll delve more into that in the coming weeks.

Thank you for allowing us to finally put in this piece of our weirdo puzzle!

Standard Lost Sincroid Army

Man, has this little bugger been in the works for a long time!

Full production LSA will hit the store as a mini release this Sunday, June 15th at 9:30PM EST.

For the first time in our history, there is literally an army of Sincroids out in the barn! This figure now ranks up there as one of my all time personal favorite runs, and being able to finally assemble Elder Exellis in these Standard LSA colors has been surreal. The Sincroid/Elder Ex/Dark Traveler mold was created with this specific color scheme in mind.

There will definitely be a surprise on Sunday night as well, one that a few of you old school guys might find kind of interesting (remember the first Passcode?).

I know the timing is tight with all the intense Kickstarter action happening at the moment (who would have ever guessed that 4 action figure campaigns would happen at once!), but this round is more of a "soft" release, designed to directly add to the selection of "Standards" in the Buildstation. The production numbers are higher, as these figures are meant to stick around for a while.

More pics of the LSA and that renegade Skeleden will be popping up as we head into the weekend!

Thank You!!!

Thank you for a great Sunday night release!

The traffic was up on the site, and the new PVC selections seemed to resonate pretty well with you guys in general. A few items went faster than anticipated, particularly the new Hades and the vinyl Conversion Kit. For me it was an extra special night, as seeing Hades and Argen together again brought back many memories of the old Glyaxia launch. That bananas launch marked a turning point for our runt of a company. Man, I will never forget how insane that whole experience was. I thought Marcus was going to need therapy after everything went live. Tears were actually shed. Ha!

Another few surprisingly fast sellouts were the accessory sets. We've received a number of requests for Axis Joints in particular to be restocked. As of this writing, an additional order has been placed for the silver, glow and black metallic Axis Joint Sets, with an expected delivery date of mid to late March. Hopefully this restock will come in handy for those that missed the initial round. We have also been thinking about possibly running Hades MK III again, also in response to some of you missing out on Sunday night. Please let us know what you think about this possibility if you get a chance, down in the comments section.

Our next wave is planned to pop up at the end of March, and will feature a small assortment of figures, some of which will have detail lines and extra paint applications. If things line up right, the "Alt" months will be the place to find experimental figures that offer something unique, serving as a compliment to our larger releases.

Speaking of larger releases, late April is the target date for our next big round. There will be Blocks and maybe some Wedges and Switch Pins as well. After all, Glyaxia Command wouldn't want it any other way.

Thank you once again for keeping the engine running! We owe you guys absolutely everything and we'll keep pushing to improve and evolve.

Shipping begins on Thursday!

Mission Details

The photography on this round has been a bear! Due to the special effects in the plastics (neon, metallic and pearlescent), trying to nail the precise color balance proved a bit trickier than usual. As we go further into the spectrum of hues, especially with pearlescent, neon and metallic additives, capturing exactly what these plastics do under different lighting becomes more challenging. The pics seen above are accurate under the lights in the studio, but outside -bathed in the rays of the sun- they can look quite different. Photographing the figures can make your eyes cross, but having fun playing with them makes up for the madness!

All that being said, I'm digging this round of PVC! The actual material has a rich luster, and each color really, really pops. The durometer is slightly harder than earlier waves this year, so you may want to warm the parts up before building as the weather becomes colder.

On to the details! We are confirmed for this Sunday, December 1st at 9:30PM EST!

Playing with Micronauts and Adventure People as a kid truly had a profound influence on the direction of my creativity, and being able to come full circle and pay homage to those classic toy lines this year has been something of a personal dream come true. For whatever reason, building with the Metallic Pearlescent Red Phaseons and all the matching accessories has been extra fun, and having Argen back (and finally in red) rounds out the return of these two Gendrones after nearly a year out of full production.

This final color selection for 2013 is about as direct a tribute to the Takara/Mego masterpiece Giant Acroyear as I could muster. It's my hope that some of you find yourselves transported to the golden memories of being a kid when you see these particular colors together again.

This wave has electrified my desire to build and take the figures on new mini adventures in a big way. After an especially tough 2013, I still believe it's important that we take a little time and remember to play once in a while.

With whatever the toy may be.

Thanks for reading this last list of 2013!

Titanic

Head over to the Callgrim Store and check out Jesse's latest mini assortment!

Exellis doesn't seem to know what to make of the whopping blue titan standing in his usual hang out. Jumbo Callgrim is like five Blocks high!

Future Rewind

Toyfinity's John Kent brought his impressive Robo Force vintage collection up for another fun visit, and the boxy bots still remain as charming and quirky as ever.

These shots were taken as the classic and new Robo Force characters discussed their next set of moves on our kitchen counter.

I'm pretty certain that I overheard Hun-Dred mention something about a metallic pearlescent red...

MAXX-E

A big part of designing Toyfinity's new Robo Force Maxx Zero was making sure to include special hidden formations.

When I first saw Maxx back in the 80's, he reminded me a lot of the small Tomy wind up Rascal Robots and larger remote control Omnibots that I'd been playing with around that time, only beefed up. The simplified body construction made the entire Ideal Robo Force line stand out, particularly with how intricate rival company Takara/Hasbro's family of very famous robots looked in comparison.

It was most likely the very things I loved about Robo Force that proved the reason for the premature demise of the line.

Thinking about the reasons why the original Robo Force met an early end factored heavily into the development of the new series. The new Maxx needed to bring something more to the table than a suction cup base, a flip down chest and some crushing arms (though I loved those aspects).

As the design work progressed, our minds kept drifting back to the similarities between those old Tomy robots and Robo Force. This in turn spiraled back to the predecessors of the Robo Force, Ideal's original Zeroids line. From there the entire world of 50's and 60's Japanese tin robots then came into play, as we studied the form factors and style lines of those antique and incredible pieces.

The above build pays homage specifically to all the previously mentioned influences, wrapped up in a major tribute to Pixar's awesome WALL-E, which is also a throwback to Tomy's early 80's work as well.

As John would say, it's Toyfinity.

Later on, we'll cover the 80's Real Type mecha design influences that also helped to forge the new Robo Force line!

Maxx Works

Tonight (October 27th) marks a very special release for our friends over at Toyfinity, for when 9 PM EST rolls around,  the old series Robo Force will make its return to the world of toys nearly 30 years after its original production run!

This special  project has been running in the background over here for quite some time.

Working closely with John "Doctor" Kent, Mike Hart and Charlie Parry of Toyfinity, we developed the new toys in house, which utilize the Glyos fit functions and play mechanics. My mentor Ron Daley and I built the Maxx Zero prototype from the ground up, based on my original design scribbles. The Toyfinity team, who are like family, put a lot of trust in us, and both Ron and I gave the project everything we had so Maxx's new form would hopefully honor the Robo Force name.

I personally still have my original Maxx from when I first received it back in 1984, and it has survived multiple toy collection cutbacks over many years. I've always felt that Maxx never got a real chance to shine as the cool character that he was, so having the opportunity to create a brand new version of Maxx has been a dream come true. I want to sincerely thank the Toyfinity team for allowing me to work on their property, which holds a place very close to my heart.

Over the month of November, I'd like to share a few notes on the creation of the new Maxx, from conceptual drawings to pics of the prototyping process at Ron's shop. There are a ton of secret builds hidden within the 41 parts that comprise Maxx Zero, from old Tomy robots, ZOIDS and Zeroids to the Trapping Rigs used by our own Rechlen and Aves. My hope is that this reforged Maxx will open up a new world of building and playing possibilities across the spectrum, and that Robo Force will make you smile like you were a kid again.

Cheers to the Toyfinity Team and their new adventures with Maxx Zero and Robo Force!
