Mini Mission Details

Right as I was working on this post, a nice virus decided to sweep through the entire house, so the last few days were a bit like a Black Hole (I think I saw Maximilian in a fever dream). We're back to working order now, just a little grosser than usual.

This first Mini Release of 2014 offers a few crossover items, focusing on Series 2 and Series 3 of OMFG, made possible by the great October Toys! We have had these waiting in the wings for some time, and to add some spice to their collective light blue rollout, a single color Armorvor has been run to match! We also have the OTMFG Zombie Pheyden light blue edition, designed by Lamour Supreme and sculpted by George Gaspar (ours is a different hue than the bright blue one currently in OT's store). Finally having the whole selection of OMFG figures available feels good! All the light blue stuff is run in the older Pheyden hue, to keep it closer to matching our OMFG Series 1 run.

Argen MK IX will be offered in an Axis Armored Form at $11 USD, consisting of 1 complete Buildman, 1 complete Axis Joint Set and 1 scarf, so you get a dollar knocked of the price with this one.

This particular Metallic Pearlescent Green run is from the same batch as The GodBeast's first full PVC production Kabuto Mushi assortment, so color is a solid match.

We will also have a restock of Stealth Armorvors, to keep the Buildstation cooking.

There will be one surprise on Sunday night, in connection to the Buildstation.

Here's the list!

Buildman - Axis Armored Argen MK IX Gendrone Voyager (Metallic Pearlescent Green with Yellorange visors and White tampos) $11
INCLUDES 1 COMPLETE BUILDMAN, 1 COMPLETE AXIS JOINT SET AND 1 SCARF

OMFG -Series 2 (Light Blue) $10

OMFG -Series 3 (Light Blue) $10

OTMFG -Zombie Pheyden (Light Blue) $2

Armorvor  - OMFG Mimic (Light Blue/No Paint) $8

Armorvor  -Stealth MK IV (Clear Colorless/No Paint) $8

????

We're still on track for Sunday night, January 19th at 9:30 PM EST.

Leading up to the release, I'll be popping some more pics of the contained builds that old Argen has been using these days, particularly on a recent trip down to Florida. The Axis Joints were designed primarily to integrate with the Buildman figure, and just adding one set to the mix pushes the building potential into some fun new places.

Now, off to regenerate for Sunday night!

NYCC 2011

We are set up at NYCC Booth #578! The scenario is a little different this year as we have merged our booth with Sidekick Media (booth #576- thanks Tom) for some extra space for all our friends who will be at the table throughout the show.

A small batch of preview figures from next week's launch will be available from us, but the truly cool stuff will come from the visiting artists who will be offering all kinds of new work that is collectively glorious to behold! The Godbeast, The Sucklord, Uamou, NistuffHealey Made, Peter Kato, Lamour Supreme, Bah'glenn Creations, Steve Jackson Games, Spaced Out Design, Eat Your Children, and Kranix are just a few of the artists that will be rolling out fresh toys to check out.

We are really psyched to once again get the chance to talk to some of you in person! Hope to see you guys over the next few days!

Crossed Over and Wrapped Up

SDCC was really fun this year. The Crossover theme brought many creative minds together and some wild work popped out as a result. Getting a chance to meet some of you highlighted the craziness that is the Con. It was great to talk in person and share some time discussing all kinds of topics, especially with the super creative people who keep us going through their dedicated support. I hope my grizzly looks didn't scare you guys too much!

The biggest draw of the Con, for us anyway, is the opportunity to spend time with our friends and customers (who usually also become our friends). Between the crews from Japan, the UK, Canada and all over the USA we had a regular United Nations of toy nuts. I personally feel luckier than ever to be allowed to break bread with such awesome people -on both sides of the table.

Thanks to everyone who made SDCC 2010 such a memorable experience, and Jesse didn't even get arrested!

Custom Corps 3: Chaos Invasion

After finally overcoming a technological rebellion perpetrated by our computer and camera, Custom Corps 3 finally rolls out! This is a very special edition, bringing together two worlds that have pretty strange characters running around. Mori Katsura's central creature from his Real X Head brand is the ever changing hero Chaos. With the ability to "sample" living organisms, Chaos has been presented in many different forms. For this Custom Corps Mori and I wanted to continue our crossover which began with the creation of Pheyaos. With the assistance of the artistic powerhouse known as Lamour Supreme, the Chaos Trooper was born. Lamour and I sculpted the first version of the Chaos Trooper head and Probe Arm together, both of us infusing our admiration for Mori into those little parts. After getting approval from the main man in Japan we set to creating the molds. Huge thanks go out to master mold maker Ron Daley for building some killer molds to unleash the Chaos Troopers. With the molds ready to go, I went nuts at the shop and cast parts like crazy over a few weeks. To spice things up I also ran some older molds to round out the assortment, even resurrecting some sidelined head designs (Michelle's original design for Noboto).

The first wave of images are a portion of the clear stuff; pictures of the painted stuff will start popping up overnight and into tomorrow. This is due to having to take all the pictures again (bad bad camera). One last shout out to Don "Datadub" Kratzer for making sure that we covered all the bases and for keeping the lines of communication completely clear.

To Mori, Joel, Don, Michelle, Ron, Marc, Jesse, Megan and to all of you, thanks so much for making this Custom Corps a reality.

PS- Make sure to check the Build Station!

L'amour Supreme at Super 7

The man, the myth, the monster maker, L'amour Supreme, will be appearing for a solo show at the San Francisco headquarters of Super 7 this weekend (October 24th at 7PM). This is a great chance for those of you in the Bay Area to meet one of the coolest characters in the business. L'amour will have one of a kind custom painted creations for sale and some very cool takes on pieces from toy producing dynamos like Real X Head, Super 7 and even Killer J just to name a few. There may even be a sneak peek of some crossover stuff on the horizon with us as well. Check the Super 7 blog for more information about what they have cooking. Good luck Joel!

L'amour Supreme Reprise

The talents of L'amour Supreme continue to mesmerize. Here's a look at his latest contribution to the Glyos System. Meet Zombie Pheyden, designed and sculpted by L'amour himself, this version of the Space Traveler is the nastiest incarnation yet! This might be what's in store for an upcoming Custom Corps. Nice rhyme. Thanks Joel! You're a maniac!

Real Fusion

During SDCC I received one of the best things in my toy making and collecting history, the first shot of our collaboration with Mori of Real X Head, a character we named Pheyaos. This little creature was dreamed up while I was visiting Japan last April. Mori and I wanted a representation of his main mutant, Chaos, fused with ol' Pheyden. Chaos has the ability to "sample" other beings with his Probe Arm and maybe he decided to absorb something cosmic for one of his experiments. Pheyaos is a first on quite a few levels- he is the first Real X Head mini with articulated arms and personally, he is the first toy design I worked on that I didn't actually sculpt. Mori's sculptor is incredible and captured all the details with precision and intuition. I haven't been able to put this thing down since I picked it up. We are working out the final details for release (shooting for late August/early September) and have some other collabs starting to come together as well. L'amour Supreme and I did double duty on a Glyos version of Chaos for a special upcoming project around the corner. Mori saw the final sculpt at the con and gave it his blessing for some urethane sets to be produced. L'amour also made some other interesting things in the last few weeks. To work with these artists is the best and I'm beyond lucky to have the chance to do it. Special thanks to Don "Datadub" Kratzer for opening the doors to the kingdom and connecting the creativity.

SDCC 09 Booth #4937

Onell Design is at the Con! I (Marc) will not be attending, as my band finishes up our tour, but stop by booth 4937 to check in with Matt, Jesse, and the rest of the crew. Our booth is officially the Global Figure Symposium, and we'll be joined by likes of RawShark, Real x Head, Suckadelic, LAMOUR Supreme, Dead Presidents, Fig-lab and much more! There are a ton of great things happening throughout the show- check the release & links below for the full scoop.

PRESS: The GLOBAL FIGURE SYMPOSIUM will be a 5-day session with a variety of panels and presentations. GSF2009 is graciously hosted by Onell Design and Callgrim at the San Diego Convention Center (SDCC#4937) . Don 'Datadub' Kratzer - Director of the International Figure Research Laboratory - will be giving the keynote and holding daily morning sessions on recent trends in figure culture from the far east. Afternoon sessions will feature many illustrious guest speakers and special exhibit. The final day will be an open day workshop to recap everything that was covered during the Symposium.

Visit gfs2009.com for the complete schedule!

I am truly bummed to not be in San Diego- but I guess it does give me more time to work on the Passcode continuation...

The Odyssey

It has been a while....Well over the last month and a half tons of things have been going on. We had a new addition to the house with the birth of our second daughter, Cirie Alice Doughty, and I went on a trip to China, Hong Kong and Japan. Sorry for such a spell of silence, but it has taken longer than I had anticipated to get back in the groove. While in China I visited the factories that make the Glyos figures and Beantown Toys. It was wild to see the process first hand. I actually worked on the assembly line while the new Sarvos figures were put together. Working with the factory's QC team was great, a bunch of production problems got solved from just meeting in person. The latest figures that we just had made are by far the best to come straight from the factory. I actually don't have to fix anything on them (which is a first). A Typhoon hit while I was in Hong Kong and I got sick as hell during it. I was on the 25th floor of a hotel in Kowloon in the middle of an insane Typhoon, alone and ill out of my mind. To top that little section of the adventure off, one of the bay windows in the room BLEW OUT and was hanging by a tiny support arm, causing a freaking vortex in the room. It was awesome. And it sucked.

The Japan leg of the journey was absolutely glorious. Massive thanks to Don "Datadub" Kratzer for putting me up and literally being the best damn host in history. Don, I owe you a million. The insanely talented LAMOUR Supreme was also docked at Don's and the three of us went on a toy expedition that was ridiculously mind blowing. We also managed to release the first part of the Shadow Set during our time in Japan. Built a small set and took a series of pics in Don's backyard to chronicle the toys while we were at it. Got to meet a lot of vinyl heroes as well. Mori from Real Head was an incredibly generous person, with his time and his attention- not to mention his amazing toys. The Gargamel and Super 7 crew threw a great party at the Thrash Out Store with tons of US collectors crashing the show. So much activity in such a small time frame, it wiped me out. I'll put up some small blips of info and pics detailing the whole trip over the next few weeks. I'm glad to be back.

Returned and Recovered

We had a great time out in San Diego this year. Saw all our old friends and made a lot of new ones. Some incredible little toy companies out there, we were all very honored to be around all those great creative minds (and crazy hard workers). It's taken us a little longer than normal to get back on our schedule this year, post con. Thanks to everyone who put in orders for the new stuff while we were out there, we are finally finished up with shipping all that plastic! The Lamour/Triclops heads landed on Saturday at the con and craziness ensued. Thanks to Master Mold Maker and all around workhorse, Ron Daley, for cranking all those heads out. To everyone who still wants a set, we are cobbling something together that should be cool. Speaking of those heads, check out the new pictures and let us know what you guys think. We call this version the Shadow Set, and it has a darker feel to it. Joel, Rob and Luc -you guys are amazing designers and all around human beings, thanks for being part of this mash up. Thanks again to everyone who came by the booth and spent time talking with us, we all had a great time meeting up and look forward to doing it again next year.
