A decade ago research into the fundamental mechanisms of cell death: apoptosis, necroptosis, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, and emerging forms of programmed cell survival was rapidly expanding. To support rapid interdisciplinary publishing Cell Death Discovery was launched in 2015 as a sister journal to Cell Death & Differentiation and Cell Death & Disease. Read the editorial celebrating this landmark.

  • BLC2 review

The landmark discovery of the BCL-2 gene and its function marked the inhibition of apoptotic cell death as a crucial mechanism driving cancer development. This new review brings together some of the original researchers who describe the sequence of critical discoveries that led to drug development saving and improving tens of thousands of lives annually. Read only in Cell Death & Differentiation.

  • 30 year anniversary

Cell Death & Differentiation proudly celebrates 30 years of publication. 30 years and two sister journals later, what is next? The landscape of scientific communication is rapidly evolving with new challenges including AI, speed of discovery, social media, data sharing and accessibility, and the pervasive threat of misinformation.
