Reindeer Merry Christmas Ornament

Reindeer Merry Christmas Ornament
With this Christmas ornament, I have hit my 2015 Christmas cards/projects target which is five (5) in total! Well, I know the quantity is small but at least I made my target. I will try harder next year!

I am making this Christmas ornament to be put in one of my office team Christmas tree which is on top of a her desk. I do not think it is not really the team Christmas tree as as far as I know no one sponsor for it. It is rather a personal interest to make up the festive feel in the office as we spend so many hours in office nowadays. I would like to make a small contribution to the Christmas tree as well to send my wishes to others. Thus, I made this Christmas ornament.

I guess it would be fun to make a shaker Christmas ornament as handmade things are very rare found and see in Malaysia. Thus, I guess a shaker Christmas ornament would make it more appreciated and noticeable.

Close-up: Adding shimmer before the shaker Christmas ornament is assembly
I use a digital stamp that come with both the image and sentiment which is printed and die cut into circle. Both of them are colored using Copic markers. I also outline the images with blue marker to make it pop on the white background. After coloring, I add shimmer to the reindeer's nose and the banner which really show those festive feeling!

Then, the supplies for shaker Christmas ornament are die cut and assemble accordingly. I double up the foam so that there are more rooms for the beads to move around.

You're Sweet!

You're Sweet!
Finally got my chance to make the card for my partner for the Malaysia Cardmakers Card Swap which is ending on 30 April 2013. Actually I am not very inspired by the themes which delayed my card making.

Sketch Saturday Week #255
But, when I saw the sketch at Sketch Saturday Week #255 (as shown above), it just struck to me that this sketch made a nice shaker card using Fresh Squeezed Stamps Christmas Treats' apothecary jar which I had the idea earlier

Another reason I want to use the apothecary jar is that my partner is a sweet person (judging from her profile photo in Facebook). The card swap themes are Mother's Day, green and stamping and we are required to use only any two (2) themes. I decided to abandon Mother's Day theme as I believe my partner is not yet a mother and decided to go with my own sweet theme instead.

Close-up : Own made 'pinwheel' sweet pattern paper
I kind of made my own pattern paper as I do not have any pattern paper related to sweet. I randomly stamp the 'pinwheel' sweet in green and orange color onto a yellow card stock. It is not perfect as some of the 'pinwheel' sweet ink smudged but I like how it look.

Close-up : Custom sentiment
Well, I do not own Lawn Fawn Here's the Scoop yet. Thus, I need to custom my own sentiment. Once everything is in place, the yellow card stock is attached onto a green card stock after the corners has been rounded.

Close-up : Fish tail ribbon
A fish tailed multicolored grosgrain ribbon is attached on to the yellow card stock as shown in the sketch.

Close-up : Shaker apothecary jar in standing position
The shaker apothecary jar is the hardest part. At first I thought it is quite easy to do but theory and imagination is sometimes very different from making it real! I have to practice on a number of card stock which gone wasted but it all worth it when I finally got it right and know how to do it!

Close-up : Shaker apothecary jar in laying flat position
The shaker apothecary jar is attached onto the card as shown in the sketch. I wish I put more the beads into the shaker as some of the beads been sticking to the side like permanently! Anyhow, it did turned out to be just like I wanted it to be!

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"

My Daughter Shaker Birthday Card

Shaker Birthday Card
The next two (2) weeks is my daughter sixth birthday, well by birth date, she is just turned six years old but she been admitting that she is six years old early of 2012. That is some of the disadvantages of being born in the end of the year! You celebrate your birthday late and you get older right after your actual birth date!

I want to make a special card for her. Thus, I decided to make a shaker card for her so that she can play a little with the birthday card! I think she will be excited when she got to know that she can shake the card!

Cute Cards Thursday Challenge 242 - A Sketch
The sketch from Cute Cards Thursday Challenge 242 is just perfect for my shaker card as I want to keep the card design as simple as possible. This is because is my first time trying to make a shaker card. I been watching some videos and tutorials which is quite easy in theory but practically, I am not sure. Guess, I just have to make one to know the tricks!

Close-up : Colored princess
The princess is stamped on a white circle and colored with Copic markers. Then, the foam ring is attached onto the white circle and let dry. After the foam ring is dried, some pearl hearts are added into the circle before attaching the acetate circle.

Close-up : The pearl hearts moved around when shake
A pattern paper where the four (4) corners are rounded is attached onto a pink card base which the corners has been rounded as well. A red embossed card stock is cut according to the position the shaker would be and rounded at the corners.

Close-up : The sentiment
The shaker is attached accordingly to the back of the red embossed card stock. The red embossed card stock are attached on to the card base with dimensional foams. The sentiment is stamped on a pink circle and some faux stitching are added to the lining of the circle in white.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24 cm or 4" x 6"
Type : Horizontal fold
Inlay : None
