Poinsettia Christmas Card to match Gift Box

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been?  I bet we are all going to have a busy weekend. Last week was good for us. We saw Michael Bublé at the O2 Arena it was such an amazing experience. It was so good to share it with our good friends. The following evening we all  saw a Beatles Tribute band at a local club. We do like to get out when we can.

When it came to sorting through our Christmas cards I realised that I didn't have one for my parents in-law. I had made the box for my mother-in-law so I decided to make a card to match.

The backing paper had been in my stash for a while.

This is the first time I have used this die from the John Next Door range. It is called the Renmore Die Set. The sentiment die is from Crafter's Companion.

I made the poinsettias with the Poinsettia die and the Swirl Poinsettia dies.

Here is a picture I took of Mr Bublé at the concert. I do have a zoom on my camera.

Here is the card with the box. I even made a small version of this card with the smaller poinsettias cut with the dies. I am still not sure if I have enough Christmas card.

Festive Trio - Card, Tag and Gift Bag all matching

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been., Mine has mostly been filled with invigilating. I did manage a room of children with three different papers and two different end times all by myself. I have one more session this week and some more next week. The weekend will be busy. We will be sorting out things for Christmas and our upcoming holiday. On Sunday we will be visiting both sets of parents.

Here is a trio of matching Christmas items that I made.

I bought the John Next Door Magazine box kit and it came with a lovely Snowflake embossing folder. I used glitter card for one of the mats when you walk past they all catch the light beautifully.

The sentiment came from the Happy Snowflakes set.

To make the flowers I used, from the John Next Door Christmas dies,  the Poinsettia die and the Swirl Poinsettia die. I created the leaves with the Poinsettia die.

I did actually make the bag first the design was in the magazine and it fits a small bottle of liqueur and some sweets. I made the tag to match. This little set will be going to one of my lovely friends that I used to work with.

Have a great weekend.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) end of Year Challenge - Anything but a Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

When you read this blog post I will be in Brighton for the last of the Bootleg Beatles Christmas Concerts. It is a lovely thing to do before Christmas with our special friends.

As the title suggests this is the end of year challenge for the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) and the theme is Anything but a Card. Some of the design team are offering prizes. This time we are being sponsored by Crafty Ribbons

I made some gift boxes filled with foil covered sweets to help someone with a fund raising coffee morning. She told me that on the day she raised £560.

If you love ribbon you will love the Crafty Ribbons website. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

This shows the top of the box with the Poinsettia and the ivy. I used the stamps and matching dies from John Next Door to make the Poinsettias.

I used acetate behind one of the cut panels so that you can see the contents.

This is the prize I am offering. There is a little bit of everything.

I need to make some more of these boxes to hold table presents. I am sure all the jobs will get done in time.

Always Fun Challenges - Paper Piecing

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? Can you believe we went to see our daughter and son-in-law to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Where did that year go? Not long and we go to Malta for the next wedding.

Being Monday the new challenge starts at Always Fun Challenges and this time the theme is Paper Piecing.

I just love the stained glass dies from Creative Expressions. I knew I wanted to use the Poinsettia one  for this card and I knew I had some great paper in my stash to match,  I just had to find it.

Our challenges are always fun. Why not join us?

This die is gorgeous. I cut it in black and left a frame. I had a piece of inky card left over so I covered it with a sticky sheet. I stuck down the black frame. I cut the die is red, green and gold glitter card and placed the pieces I wanted into the black frame. Having the sticky sheet under makes this easier. Finally I covered the left over sticky with Micro Beads.

As usual I didn't leave much room for a sentiment so I used my go to Tattered Lace die.

I know I will be using this die again.

My card for Quick Cards Made Easy Magazine Issue 158

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

We are back from our short break in Exeter. We had a lovely time the hotel was a bit remote but it did mean that is was very peaceful. It was so lovely to see all the changing colours on the trees.

I applied to Quick Cards Made Easy to be on the Readers Design Team for issue 158. I was sent the papers  in an email so that I could print them at home and I sent in my card. Unfortunately my card wasn't selected to be printed in the magazine this time. It was featured in a gallery on their Facebook page though. Sometimes when you send things in you worry about if they have got there or not.

The cards you make must be no bigger than 150 cm x 150 cm. I do like making square cards. The bonus papers are called Vintage Christmas. They can be found in the centre of the magazine.

I used one of the papers to make a Poinsettia with my Tattered Poinsettia Sizzix Bigz die. I inked the edges and cut some out of green card to add some definition.

The tag came with the bonus papers too. Altogether I used four of the papers. There was lots left over for me to make other cards.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Christmas Card number 34

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope your week is off to a good start. We are now well into prep for our holiday it is another cruise this time to Norway. Today I am going out with a friend for a girly day shopping and having lunch.

Yesterday I did a bit of Design Team work and then I set about making a Christmas card. Now I have a bit of a confession last year I bought a lot of Sue Wilson's Festive dies and I didn't get to use most of them. So this year I have promised myself that I am going to try and use all of them at least once.

So I made a start on using them yesterday. I used the Poinsettia mini striplet. Now I discovered something rather cool the outer die from the Happy Perspective die set cuts a perfect mat for the mini striplet.

I cut the Deboss snowflake die in gold. I used the outer die to cut two black mats to create a black surround. The Seasons Greetings was cut in red.

I am going to try something similar to this design with my other striplet dies.

I had better get ready to go out. Enjoy your day.

Happy Crafting.

Creative Artiste Challenge Blog - Challenge 9 Anything Goes

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

The weekend is nearly here. I am doing a really nice thing at work today. There is a special service at Winchester Cathedral arranged by Hampshire Music service for special needs children. It is very well done and everyone gets to join in. In a lot of ways this is the highlight of our year. The only downside is that I haven't left my husband alone for so long yet. I have arranged for some friends to pop in and see him.

There is a new challenge starting today on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog the sponsor is Foilplay and the theme is Anything Goes.

I was very lucky and I won this kit to make a candle holder on the Creative Expressions Facebook page. They have a competition every Friday it is well worth entering.

The MDF pieces were painted  and the inside stamped before I slotted the sides together. I could have stuck this together but I decided not to so that it could be packed away when we aren't using it.

I made it a sort of skirt using lots of my Sue Wilson dies. This is detachable.

You can see the stamping in gold and silver on the inside. The candle is one of those electric ones I just feel they are a little safer.

Here it is lit in the evening. This will be one of our main Christmas decorations this year most of our things are in the loft and the boxes are too heavy for me and my husband can't manage them with one hand.

I hope that you have a great day today. It is a very busy time of year.

Delightful Digi's - Christmas Release

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is the new week shaping up for you? Yesterday day I had a very exciting day first I won a prize on Pixie's Snippets Playground and when I checked Julia Watt's blog I found that I had won a card. I have sent them both my address and now I am waiting for some happy post. That was a good start to the week.

Today is exciting for another reason, there is a new release of Christmas images on the Delightful Digi's blog. There are some beautiful images to choose from and there are coordinating backgrounds too.  Click on the link and you will be taken to the blog to see what is on offer.

I started with a 7" x 7" red card blank. I cut all the layers with 1/4 inch increments. For the background I used the Poinsettia background in red. Once I had made all the layers there was a big strip of background left. It was too pretty not to use so I put it across the card layering it up to match the rest of the card,

The image is  called Poinsettia. I love red Poinsettias in fact I have one in the kitchen every Christmas last year's is still there but it is all green now. I really enjoyed colouring this image and it just had to be red I used my Promarkers to do this. To the centres I added Glossy Accents to give them some dimension and shine. I did the cutting out with my ScanNcut I am getting more used to it. Before I put the image in place on foam pads I added a gold ribbon.

The greeting was cut with some Britannia word dies.

I enjoyed making this card. I do find colouring very relaxing. I do hope to make a few more samples to share with you. I have now started my Christmas cards and that can't be a bad thing.

Don't forget to click on the image below to visit the blog to see all the beautiful images for sale.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Happy Crafting.
