Robins at Christmas

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? We went to the cinema yesterday. It was very odd going again. We have both really missed going to the cinema. Tomorrow we are off to look after our daughter and son-in-law's dog so they can go out for an anniversary meal together. I can't believe it is four years since they got married.

I am so behind on my own Christmas cards I needed a bit of time to catch up. I just couldn't bear to watch the football on Sunday so I did spend a bit of time crafting.

In the background is some snowy patterned paper. The main die set I used was Christmas Time from the John Next Door range. The sentiment was cut with a die from the Happy Snowflakes die set from John Next Door.

The holly wreath was made with dies from the Christmas Time die set. The robins were cut from an old Christmas card. I do keep all the cards with robins on because I like them so much.

I still have a lot of Christmas cards to make. But a least here is one more. I ought to get back to crafting.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Pussy Cat themed easel Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? I hope you had something nice to do. We went into Southampton on Saturday morning. We had coffee and cake vouchers for John Lewis and it would have been rude not to use them. We also returned to the Pre-Raphaelite exhibition at the Art Gallery which finishes soon. Sunday was a quiet day of catching up.

On Friday I had a bit of a difficult day. I didn't realise how tired invigilating had made me last week. With a free afternoon on Friday I tried to craft and nothing worked. I did get rather fed up. On Saturday afternoon  I took a bit of time out to craft and I was much happier with the results. Here is one of the cards that I made.

This year lots of people have given me their old cards to recycle. I go through them and sort out the cards I can use. I came across a card with a group of cats on. My mother-in-law loves cats and I thought the image would make a nice card for her.

This is a happy group of cats all dressed up and ready for the cold.

I used the sentiment cut with a die from the Happy Snowflakes die set and this became the stopper for the easel part of the card.

The trees were cut with the Winter Trees die set from Creative Expressions. The little cat die came with the Crafter's Companion Advent Calendar. I like the design on this part of the card so much I might adapt it into a card on it's own.

I was pleased with this card. I think my mother-in-law will love it. I will make a separate card for my father-in-law.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Have a great week. I will be invigilating again this week.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge Blog - Anything But a Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

This is something of a sad post for me. I have been struggling with my crafting. I just don't seem to have as much time as I used to. There are some other changes that are going on at home as well. With all that in mind I have taken the decision to step down from the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge blog Design Team. Therefore, sadly, this will be my last post for them.

Today the new challenge starts at the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge blog and the theme is Anything But a Card. Members of the Design Team are offering prizes for this challenge as well.

First you need a clean wine bottle with the label removed. This is easier with some bottles than others. I measured round the bottle and I cut a thick black strip that I cut by joining some of the Snow Scenes Dies. I cut a thinner white strip and used the Deer Scenes dies. I also cut and stuck to the bottle some snowflakes cut with the Happy Snowflakes set. All these dies are from the John Next Door range from Crafts Too. The Santa's Sleigh was cut with a Creative Expressions die.

This is a super challenge to enter lots of the Design Team are offering prizes this time. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

What inspired me to decorate this bottle was this set of lights that I found in B&Q. The switch is on a cork shape that houses the batteries. It just such a  neat way to light up bottles with no need for trailing wires.

Here is the prize that I am offering for this challenge.

Here is the bottle lit up. The shadows it casts are rather good.  I am hoping to decorate another bottle.

Festive Trio - Card, Tag and Gift Bag all matching

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been., Mine has mostly been filled with invigilating. I did manage a room of children with three different papers and two different end times all by myself. I have one more session this week and some more next week. The weekend will be busy. We will be sorting out things for Christmas and our upcoming holiday. On Sunday we will be visiting both sets of parents.

Here is a trio of matching Christmas items that I made.

I bought the John Next Door Magazine box kit and it came with a lovely Snowflake embossing folder. I used glitter card for one of the mats when you walk past they all catch the light beautifully.

The sentiment came from the Happy Snowflakes set.

To make the flowers I used, from the John Next Door Christmas dies,  the Poinsettia die and the Swirl Poinsettia die. I created the leaves with the Poinsettia die.

I did actually make the bag first the design was in the magazine and it fits a small bottle of liqueur and some sweets. I made the tag to match. This little set will be going to one of my lovely friends that I used to work with.

Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog - Challenge #69 - Anything Goes and Design Team Call

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Thank you for all the well wishes for my hubby. He is much better now and back at work there is just a bit of a lingering cough. This weekend we are having friends here for a meal on Saturday. After we are all going to our local theatre to see Hal Cruttenden. They do get some good comedians at our little theatre. On Sunday it will be church and we are picking up details of the hamper that our little group will be putting together for one of the families being supported through CAP.

Being the first of the month it is usually busy in blogland. For me there will be two posts today. This is the day that  a couple of design teams I am on have coincided. Next year this will be happening more often more about that later on.

Challenge #69 starts today at the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes. This time the sponsor is Beccy's Place.

I have not one but two cards on offer. I covered the backing paper in this card with washi tape.

Beccy has many wonderful images and sets in her store. If you click on the logo you will be taken there.

This image is from the Sing Joy digital stamp set which is available HERE. . I did use a pre-coloured image so that I could place onto a background I had created on the computer. Aren't those flip-flops just fab. That is just what they will be wearing in Australia around Christmas time.

This is a Tattered Lace die and in fact the first one I ever bought. It was just right for this image.

One last look at this card and then onto the next.

To create the ivy background for this card I used Sam's Star die set from the John Next Door range.

This cute little is from the Christmas Cardinals digi stamp set which is available HERE.  Again I used a pre-coloured image and made my own background on the computer. I do love his cute little boots.

The snowflakes were made with Happy Snowflakes dies set from the John Next Door range.

So there you have both of my cards both with images from Beccy's Place. This month she has a Christmas card challenge on her blog. She is very generous with prizes it is worth entering.

Winter Wonderland Challenge blog - Tribute Challenge - Anything Christmas Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

As promised I am back.

The new challenge starts at the Winter Wonderland Challenge blog. This one is a special challenge as it is a tribute to Eileen who was the former owner and Design Team Coordinator who sadly passed away two years ago. The theme of the challenge is Anything Christmas Goes and the sponsor is Dr Digi's House of Stamps.

I knew I had the red snowflake paper on my computer so when I printed the image I printed some to go with him. I added a strip at the bottom so Santa didn't look like he was floating.

There are many wonderful images in the store if you click on the logo you will be taken there.

This is Eileen she is sadly missed.

This is the Simply Santa image and he is available HERE. He was printed onto Neenah card and coloured with Promarkers. I cut him out by hand.

I used the Happy Snowflakes die set from John Next Door. Not only for the sentiment but I added snowflakes all over the card.

I am quite pleased with the design of this card. It is still nice and flat for posting. I may well make some more cards like this. The Santa is very jolly.

Snippet Busting Christmas Cards

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? Tomorrow I start back on my weekly trips to Winchester. There is a lovely shop there called C&H fabrics. There is a coffee shop and a craft department. I am looking forward to visiting both again.

I have been having a bit of a think about my blog. I have had an unofficial schedule that I have been working to. The consequence is that I have made too many cards over time. Last year I was given the opportunity to donate cards that I didn't think I would use to a coffee morning raising money for a charity. This meant that I had a good clear out.  The long and the short of it is that I will be only posting when I have something worth sharing. I am still on some design teams and I will still be entering competitions. I will also continue to visit all my crafty friends blogs. I will be around.

One of my friends who goes to a craft class gave me a lovely handmade card. I liked the design so much I decided to have a go at it myself. It is a great way to use up all sorts of snippets of which I have many.

It is a very simple design and the cards I made are A6 in size. I used my guillotine to cut the strips of paper. All those bits of paper I had been saving could be used.  I cut a piece of white card and covered it with the strips this way it could be neatly trimmed. I started with the centre strip and worked out from there. This design is so easy to adapt to any size.

The sentiment is the one I used a lot last year from the John Next Door range. The two mats were cut with two Sue Wilson dies that came from the centre of a larger die.

I had so many snippets I made 10 cards. Last year I made a few mistakes with my Christmas cards. Firstly I was making them right up to the last minute I hadn't made enough. Secondly I  made too many big cards that needed large letter stamps. These cards are flat and small. I might make some more as I have lots more snippets to use.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Deer in the Snow Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? I have been very busy. There just seems to be so much to do. It doesn't help when your husband needs extra cards for his work colleagues and I thought I had made extra.

I haven't made as many Christmas cards as I thought I had. Once I had made the extra cards for my husband I looked around my craft area and found lots of bits that had been cut but not used. So I made this quick card with them.

The backing paper was left over in my stash.

I used the Delicate Pine Frame die from Memory Box for the frame and the tree. The deer and the snow were cut with the Winter Wonderland dies from Sizzix.

The sentiment was cut with the sentiment die from the Happy Snowflakes die set from John Next Door.

This isn't too bad for a lot of left over bits and pieces.

Golden Bell Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I am finding this time leading up to Christmas very busy. There is so much I want to get made and I am not sure if there is going to be time.

I have made a lot of cards this year and I have lost track of them a bit. I used the Golden Bell image from Beccy's Place for a Design Team card. I always print more images than I need, this is case something goes wrong. I am often left with unused images that it seems a shame to waste. This was the case with this card.

I found the backing paper in my stash I think it came from a magazine. In the background I used the Stitched Flags die set from Creative Expressions.

I used the pre-coloured image. I am just getting back into my colouring but it does take me a while. This is the Golden Bell image from Beccy's Place it is available HERE.

This is the sentiment die from the Happy Snowflakes die set from John Next Door.

This is another card for my stash. I bet it ends up being too thick for ordinary post. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Crafts Galore Encore December Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Well December has arrived and now that panic starts that there is really not long until Christmas. Today we are hoping to get to a Christmas market in the New Forest. We haven't been to this one before. There are still a few presents to get.

Today the new Challenge starts on the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog the theme is Always Anything Goes. This time we are very lucky to have Oddball Art as our sponsor. The challenge winner gets $10 credit to spend in the store.

I have made a lot of these Z-fold cards this year. I used the Falling Snow Embossing folder to make the snow. I used a coated card stock so it could be sanded back to show the white. I used both the Deer Scenes and the Snow Scenes dies from John Next Door to cut the front  panel and the background. The Happy Snowflakes die set was used for the sentiment and the larger snowflakes. The Winter Trees added some extra interest and there is Santa's Sleigh is in the background both dies from Creative Expressions.

There are many wonderful images in the store. Click on the logo to be taken there.

These images come as a pair and they are called Creepy Cute Ol' Gnome Love image 463 and it is available HERE.  I printed them onto Neenah card and they were coloured with Promarkers. They were nice and easy to cut out.

The gnomes are very cute. They could be coloured in any colours so they would be very versatile.

I do like to decorate to the bottom of the panels.

I was very pleased with how this card turned out. I know exactly who to give it to.

Double Twisted Easel Card made with the Christmas Cardinals

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I have had the chance to catch up on a few things now that invigilating is out of the way.

I have made a lot of easel cards this year. I think this format is a good way of showing off images. I will have to be careful to send them to people who will know how to display them. I wanted to try something a bit different especially because I know I could flip the images.

I made a double twisted easel card.

This image comes from the Christmas Cardinals set from Beccy's Place which is available HERE.  I used one of the pre-coloured images and place it onto one of my photos.

I used the Happy Christmas die from the Happy Snowflakes die set by John Next Door.

I did mean to have the cardinas facing each other. I might have another go sometime. This card is ideal for the R theme for the November Challenge at Beccy's Place Challenges.
