More Eggs!

As I mentioned in my last post, I am only getting around to downloading my photos of the last few weeks now.  Found these photos that I guess I never posted.  See... I've been busy crafting!  Just not blogging.

So I ended up buying several egg kits from the egg class I took last month.  She had pre cut and painted/glittered the inside, so all I had to do was paint the outside and decorate.  I decided to give some of them away for Easter.

I love the girl bunny.. I think she's my favorite!

The papa bunny was cute too.

Here's another papa bunny in teal.

Had a lot of fun making these. Hopefully I can take another egg class again soon.

Imiloa Egg Class with Eileen Tokita

Have you ever seen Eileen Tokita's eggs before? If not, check out her You Tube channel... you will be amazed...

Imiloa hosted a class by Eileen over the weekend and I decided to attend with a couple of friends.  I was pretty scared to take this class because it looked like you had to be very detailed and precise, which I am not.  But I decided to go anyway just for fun and was surprised to see a bunch of other crafty friends too.

The class provided everything you would need to make your egg.  She even pre-cut the egg and painted the inside for us! I picked the pink one of course.

Then she showed us a great technique for painting the eggs..  Love the color she chose!

After the paint was dry, we added the pearls and gold cording.  Can you believe this is my egg?

Then some gold trim...

And the pearlstickpin and bead cap.

And she showed us an amazing trick for making the bow!  I think I still need to practice.  Here's my finished egg.  I still can't believe I made this!!!

As you can see here, the egg is tilted a bit upwards so if its on the table you can see it.  I love the bunny.. She's so shabby!

Eileen and Debi brought some of their samples... Amazing!

Look!  She actually cut out parts of the egg!

OK this was my favorite egg.. I found out Debi made this!!!

See it opens up!

This one is so cute. I think it was made with quail eggs.  Found out Debi bought this from Eileen almost 40 years ago and its still nice!

This one was covered in velvet.

This was the Year of the Dragon kit.  Wish I could've taken this class!

Eileen also teaches bling classes too.  I think I want to take these next!

So, if you live on Oahu.. you are in luck!  Eileen teaches classes almost every Sunday at the old Photocraft site off of Waialae.  I really want to go to another one of her classes again, it was so much fun!  I really surprised myself and still can't believe I made that egg!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Everyone!  We actually celebrated Easter last weekend since family was in town.  Also needed to finish up this Easter project early since the recipient was going on a trip and wouldn't be here for Easter.  I knew the only person who would appreciate it here in Hilo is my friend Debi, so I designed it just for her.

While surfing YouTube, I stumbled onto this cool Easter Explosion Box Mini Album by Kathy Orta.  She is a whiz at coming up with cool projects and sells kits/teaches online.  By the time I saw this video, it was over a year after she originally published it.  I bookmarked it for future reference and found it just in time for this Easter.

I didn't really want to make the box an explosion box, so I decided to just make it a regular box instead but decorate the cover similar to the video- like an Easter Basket... only mine is more Shabby.  Here's what I came up with...

Here's a close up of the box cover.  The box was made using the new Prima Fairy Rhymes paper.  Love love love that paper!  You can't tell cause I covered the cover up, but it has an amazing butterfly pattern on it.  I think you can see it on the box bottom.

After making the box and cover, I attached the handle on with some brads. Kept it simple since I wanted the cover to stand out more.  To decorate the cover, I stared by adding some tulle to the bottom.  Then added some of my home made burlap leaves that I colored using my distress stains.  Then added some I Am Roses roses and some gems/pearls.  Then I used some mini plastic eggs I found at Walgreens (yep, I searched several stores to find the small size and they were the only store in Hilo that carried them).  I decorated them using lace and flowers.  Then I found this chick from my Easter posts last year.  It made a cute addition to the lid.

Around the edge of the lid, I added some ruffled trim and then on top of that added some flower beaded trim.  I wasn't sure I would use this trim I got from Craft Supply, but I'm glad I picked it up.

On the side of the basket, I added some sheer ribbon and made a bow. In the middle, I added a Wild Orchid Crafts rose.

I took a photo from this angle to show you that I had also added one of my home made stick pins to the rose.  You can also see the lace on the eggs too.

And inside the basket, I added in a small notebook I altered.  It was originally a plain kraft recycled notebook I picked up for $1 at Ben Franklin.  With some of the scrap from the box, I was able to cover the notebook.  Then I added some flatback pearl trim along the edge of the book. This was the first time I've ever done that, so I wasn't sure if it would work, but it seemed to work out ok.  Then I decorated the cover using a MS doily (from Debi), handmade flower, and some Petaloo flowers from my stash.  Also added a Pink Paislee buttefly (love!) and Doodlebug heart pearls.  I'm linking these even more than regular pearls!  And finally, I used one of my coveted Melissa Frances lock and key resin pieces.  Love this look!

Here's a better look at those embellies...

Debi seemed to like these projects a lot!  Glad I decided to give it to her. :)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Did the Easter Bunny bring you yummy treats? I remember one Easter I must've been bad cause I didn't get anything from the Easter Bunny! Anyway, came up with this simple treat to give to Akemi's class and my classes this weekend. Debi got the bags for me when she went to Honolulu (Thanks Debi!). Thank goodness cause it sure made these projects easy! To make my life even easier, I just printed up some Easter clipart by Nancy Kubo and Mindy Terasawa and added a sentiment below. Then I punched them out and mounted them on scalloped circles and taped them to the top of the bag. Yay! Easy Peasy! Here's a closer look...

CATS: Easter Theme

Happy Easter Everyone! Just wanted to share what I created for the April Card and Tag Swap (CATS) that Joy hosts on her blog... You need to sign up for three consecutive months at a time and Joy will pair you up with three different participants. This month, my partner is the Bearsaurus herself, Elena. Need to make one tag and one card in whatever theme she comes up with... This month's theme was Easter, so I was happy to use my new Verve stamps that just came in. These little chickies are so cute! They come with chickie sentiments too- which I just love! First here's my tag.. now that I look at it, I probably should have used a different color base yah? Oh well. Here's the card I made for her using the same stamps... It's another pleated center pop up card. And here's what it looks like when its opened flat. Do like the butterfly? Here's you can see it fully opened with the sentiment. And here's the close up of the cute chickie! Hope she likes it!

More Class Sneak Peeks

I recently received a request to teach the treat box card and I guess I got too ambitious and came up with two different cards designs- one for Boy's day and one for Easter. Forgot to take a photo of the inside of this card, but I remembered to stamp the inside this time and used the Dandelion koi stamp. Here's the Easter version of the same card. OK- just noticed that these photos were taken before I actually finished the project! I finished it off by wrapping some nuggets with coordinating paper and inserted them into the box portion of the card. I guess you'll just have to use your imagination. So glad Dandelion is making these cute cling stamps where are actually larger in size than their wood stamps. I've always wished for their designs to be bigger and now my wish has come true! Thanks Jean! These cards are pretty easy to whip up and are great for giving friends a little something for any occasion.

Some Bunny Loves You!

This is another pre-scheduled post. Just wanted to share another pleated center pop up card. I originally saw this on Eunice's blog and then again on Joy's blog. Thanks ladies! Made a few adjustments so that it was A2 sized. Guess I was in the mood for spring, so I decided to make an Easter themed card for my upcoming class. I think the key to this type of card is to find background items that will stand up or float to show off the coolness of this card (did I just write coolness?). Anyway, I couldn't resist using the Easter Anya since she's back in stock at Island Scrapbooking. Also finally able to use my easter basket punch and Lawn Fawn bunny from the Critters in the Burbs set. Yay! I think my favorite thing about spring is the pretty pastel colors. They are my favorite pallet to work with. Hope you are having a good week! Can someone check my cupcakes on Cupcake Corner please? ha ha ha!

Easter Treats

After rushing to make these mini milk carton treats for the girls at Island Scrapbooking, I failed to take a photo of it till now. Good thing Michele and Tracy didn't open them up yet! :) I also made one for Debi but didn't get a photo of that one. You can see it on her blog...
Used the tutorial that Teri posted (thanks Teri!). The instructions were great- really easy to follow. Like everyone, I thought the milk cartons were too small at first, but they hold a good amount of sweets- especially when you make 4 of them.
My crafty Aunty Jan sent me some cut ones until I could get the die myself, so I'm not sure what DP was used for the ones she gave me. Thanks Aunty!
Michele recently told me she likes orange, so I tried to use orange in hers. I also wanted to use Easter Anya since it will be the last time I use her for this year.
Next I used the Sweet November baby bunnies by Amy Young for Tracy's holder. They are so cute! Tracy likes blues, greens and purples, So dug in my stash for those colors.
I had some leftover mini clothespins that had little wood flowers or ladybugs on them, so I thought they would be good to close up the cartons. On the other side of the holder I added a bunny Island Scrapbooking laser cut. Sorry- forgot to take a photo of that side.
Supplies:
Cardstock- Bazzil
DP- Lasting Impressions
Grass punch- MS Crafts
Baby Bunny- Sweet November- CC's designs
Easter Anya- TGF
Ribbon
Word Window Punch- SU
Bunny laser cut- Island Scrapbooking

Swiss Pixie Daba

I love Easter because there is an abundance of bunnies! My DD loves her Daba (name for her pink bunny) and this CC's Swiss Pixie reminds me of her. Isn't she cute hugging her bunny? I actually made this card for a one card swap at Island Scrapbooking. Here's a close up of her...
Also wanted to share this Easter RAK I got from Donna. Isn't it cute? She used her top note die for the top of the bag. My daughter was trying her best to take photos of this because she knew if she could convince me that she took a photo for my blog, I would let her eat the candy inside... Smart no?!

Chicks, Man!

Do you watch The Soup on E! Its hilarious! I guess I enjoy it because it makes fun of celebrities and pop culture. They always say "Chicks, Man!" when introducing a segment on females, so thought I'd use it for my title.... Just had to share this cute Easter RAK from Debi. She said she got the Chick template from My Time Made Easy by Lauren Meader. I love her stuff too. Didn't realize this Chick was that cute! Love how she put feathers too! Thanks Debi!
