In Love with Hexagons

Hello crafty friends, it's Kerstin here!

And again it's release week. Yay! So many fun products are waiting for you. One of them I used on todays card.

You might have noticed that I have a crush on stencils. The new release comes with a very special one: layered hexagons. And of course I had to use it on my card.

  • ink blend hexagons in different shades of yellow onto the card base
  • stamp, color and fussy cut your image
  • add some gold splatters to the background and adhere your image

Stencil Layered Hexagons (coming March 18th)

Riding by to say hi

Hello crafty friends, it's Kerstin here!

The snow is slowly melting around here and I'm ready for spring. That's why I had to work with the best bugs stamp set.

I love to combine stamp sets that weren't made to mix with each other. And I find it super cute when a bug rides a bike.

  • choose stamp sets that don't fit at first sight, for example a seagull and a sofa or - like here - a bug and a bike
  • stamp the bug first and mask the lower part of its bud with some masking paper
  • then stamp the bike and some flowers separately
  • color and fussy cut the image
  • add some soft clouds to the background with a stencil
  • adhere the image with foam adhesive to the panel
  • for the sentiment I used some leftover paper in the same color as the bugs back

Best Bugs

Hey stampers, Anni here!

Today I have some tags for you!

Often when I am invited to a birthday party I like to give something special with the actual gift, something handmade. Gift Tags are perfect for that and easy to make.

  • Create a Smile has two different sizes of tag dies - so you get the perfect size for what you need.
  • When you stamp and heat emboss a background stamp in white and add then ink blending you can create your own patterned paper that matches your project perfectly.
  • When you make tags always make two or three as long as you have the supplies out.

Join the Create a Smile Facebook group to get all the news and to see all beautiful projects.

Bee Happy!

Hey stampers, Anni here!
I am back again from my break and so happy about it!
The card I am showing you today is my first try on the super cute set Dicke Freunde/Best Bugs!

When I go on vacation I always take something to colour with me! This year I couldn't stop colouring with Distress Ink reinker! Especially using the no line technique! So I had these iamges already coloured and then it was easy to create the card around it!

  • No line colouring might seem difficult at first but it's so much fun and worth the effort.
  • With no lines you need contrast to define the shapes - don't be shy to add darker areas.
  • Don't try to draw small details with a brush - I always use a pen with a fine tip. The antennae and the mouth of the bee for example I drew with a brown pen.
  • I love the narrow frames from Create a Smile! I like to stack them up to achieve dimension. It is so much easier then working with dimensional adhesive.

(VIDEO) Flipbook-Cards

Hello everybody!
Today I want so share with you some flipbook-cards. I made one one years ago and thought, it could be a nice idea for a video. And I show you 3 different ways of doing the book, and three "stories" I created.

Interactive cards are always a huge fun, creating them, but also getting them. And why don't send out a flipbook instead of a card? :-)

Here you can watch the Video in english

... und hier in Deutsch

Maybe you can keep your eyes open for some blank little books in your paperstores, wich you can use for flipbooks, instead of doing the book on your own.

And: did you know? The german word for Flipbook is "Daumenkino", wich means "Thumb-Cinema" ;-)

Fine Ferns

Dicke Freunde (german)
