Creepy But Cute! Birthday Card

Hi there!
Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a card that would be PERFECT for your friend who has a birthday around Halloween!

I have been eyeing those cute, sweet little dressed up, ghost images forever, and I finally decided how to make them into a card! Ha!

Let's make this card together!

- stamp and color your image (I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers)
- once dry, fussy cut and set aside
- on your card front, I used a combination of Peacock Feathers and Blueprint Sketch Distress Paints to create that 'night' sky! so fun!
- once it was dry, I used white embossing paste and a stencil to add to the fun!

- I heat embossed the sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock

- then popped up the sentiment strip and the frog image with foam tape!

What? No rainbow?! I know! Ha!
I decided to keep it dark, and night-like this time! But a little rainbow background would totally change the feel of this card!

I used the cute little dressed up ghosts and speech bubbles from the Creepy Cute stamp set
The sentiment is from Mini Birthday set! And that backgound stencil is Focal Point!

And, bonus!

The Creepy Cute stamp set is on sale!! It's part of the awesome sale going on now on the Create a Smile stamps shop!

Bear-y Big Birthday Wishes!

Hi there!
Samantha here today, and I'm sharing another fun card! This one is a birthday card with BIG wishes! (Literally! Ha!)

I literally was just browsing through my collection of stamps and these two sets were next to each other and I thought, hey, wouldn't it be cute to combine these sets...and yes...yes it would...Ha! :)

Let's make this card together!

- stamp and color your koala bears! (I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers)
- once dry, fussy cut out and set aside
- stamp your big, scripty word and fussy cut. (I heat embossed the 'wishes' phrase to make it extra bold)

- on your card front, ink blend! (I used Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade)

- add foam tape to the entire piece and pop up!
- stamp the rest of the sentiment

I fussy cut everything here...the big word, the critters...but you could totally mask everything and make this an easy one layer card!

I looooooved combining these two sets! I used Card full of Treasures for the koalas, and Make a Wish for the sentiment! SO MUCH FUN!!

Let's Celebrate!

Hi there!
Samantha here today, and guess what? It's my birthday! So you know I had to make a celebration card!! Ha!

Well...birthdays!!! And that cute cute cute little monster! I couldn't let another day go past when he wasn't used on a card! Ha!

There's nothing fancy with this card, but it sure does make me happy!
Let's make it!

- stamp and color that little guy (I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and watercolored onto some Bristol Smooth Vellum Mixed Media paper)
- I also stamped a simple balloon from the cling stamp set and colored that as well.
- once dry, fussy cut and add foam tape

- on the background of your card front, stamp the background image in black ink
- heat emboss the sentiment in white, onto black cardstock
- finish with sequins

That monster is SO cute, and totally steals the show on this card! That's why I didn't go crazy with color in the background!

I really let that adorable little monster from Monster Party shine on this card! The background was stamped in black ink with the Cling Balloons In the Sky stamp set! Love it! And that sentiment is from the Mini Birthday stamp set!

Masking, Gesso, Watercolouring... It's a Party!

Hi Everyone! Did you order the new kit? If you have not, what are you waiting for? Head over to the store because there's a limited amount of kits available. But if you still need more convincing, I'm using a few of the products from the kit in my card below.

Enjoy!

To be very honest, I don't know how I wanted the card to look.

I just started with taking a watercolour paper and swipe a layer of white gesso over the stencil, but only on one side of the paper. Why? I don't know haha. I just wanted to test out how it would turn out and didn't want to waste a whole piece of watercolour paper.

While I let the gesso air dry, I stamped the images (also on a watercolour paper with Distress Ink - Walnut Stain) and use my Inktense Watercolour Pencils to colour the images. I usually start by direct colouring on the areas that should come out darker.

The pencils are highly pigmented, a little goes a long way. As you can see below, I'm using a wet brush and "pull" the colour to the rest of the white space. If the colour isn't vibrant enough, you can get the colour directly from the pencil with a wet brush.

To add colour to the gesso-ed stencil, I used my very wet brush to pick up colour directly from the pencil. If you've never done this before, no worries, this does not ruin your pencil. At least not for me.

Anyways, all I wanted to create is a gradient of light to dark blue.

Birthday Wishes

Hello!
Samantha with you again, and today I'm sharing a funky little birthday card!

To be honest, I really just wanted to color and play with my favorite colors! Sometimes cards can be as simple as that! And it was SO much fun making this card with that cute little chameleon!! I love him!

To create this card, you'll just need some time to have fun and create something to make you happy!

I started by using some embossing paste and my favorite stencil ever to create the fun little white on white background.
While that was drying, I cut a strip of white cardstock, the length of the card and started blending with Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks.
Then I stamped on that background with the cute little leaf image!
Next, I stamped and colored the chameleon with Copics and then fussy cut him out!

I heat embossed the sentiment and also used a die cut for the word "Birthday"! Love mixing stamps and dies that way!
I popped up the sentiment onto the card front and it was done! :)

I used the Jungle Fever stamp set for the chameleon and little leaf images. The sentiment was created by combing the Mini Birthday stamp set and a word from the Tiny Sentiments Die! The stencil I used is the Skinny Chevron Stencil.

I really had fun making this card, and I think that's mostly because I used colors that make me happy, and images that are just plain FUN! So be sure to LIKE what you are doing when you make a card! It sounds so basic, but it's true! If you're happy, your card will be better for it!
