Festive Octopus!

Hello, hello! Welcome back! It's Laurie with you today to share with you my last Christmas card of 2020! This features a bit of an underwater theme with a very festive octopus :). And yes, I added a winter hat (see previous blog post, haha!)

I really felt the need to do some ink blending today. Also, I've had the Underwater Love Stamp Set forever, and have never used the octopus image.

I started by using one of the Scalloped Rectangle Dies to trim a piece of white cardstock. I could have just used my trimmer but I really wanted that pretty scalloped edge. I first cut the top section then moved the die to cut the bottom. BUT...it would have been easier to just cut the entire piece and trim off the edges. Live and learn!

Next, I masked off that small portion on the front of a white card base and used Broken China, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks to create the "sea". I did add some white splatter but should have waited for the Oxides to dry. So my white splatters turned a wee bit blue.

I started by stamping the winter hat from the Made of Snow Stamp Set, created a mask for it, then stamped the octopus. I also added some of the ornaments from the same set around the tentacles, leaving a small space to draw a string.

I coloured and fussy cut all around this little guy. Yes, it took a bit of time but well worth it!  Before putting the card together, I white heat embossed a sentiment from the Tiny Sentiments set directly onto the ink blended portion.

I used foam tape to adhere the two scalloped panels and a combination of foam and liquid glue for the octopus. And no card is complete without a bit of sparkle pen and Glossy Accents!!

I know fussy cutting can be well, fussy. The best tip I can give for this is...go slow. Take your time. And you don't have to cut all the inner bits like I have but if you do, use a nice, sharp craft knife!

You can get SO MANY different looks and themes just by combining your stamp sets! It's one of my favourite things to do!

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing you a very, merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy 2021!!

There's snow friend like you......

Hi there it's Anja again with ofcourse another christmascard for you.

I wanted to use those great letterstickers that come with the new kit in a different way.
And ofcourse since it's already December I had to make another christmascard for my stash.

I started by stamping the image onto my cardbase. Stamped it again on some maskingpaper and placed it onto my stamped image.
Now I used the stencil with the snowflakes with watermark ink and white heat embossed it.
I sponged the background with distress ink en randomly placed some letterstickers but made sure to from the word SNOW in the middle.
Stamped the word there's onto some black cardstock and white heat embossed it.
Colored the image with copics and then cut away the side of the frontpanel leaving the image hanging out at the side.
Stamped the sentiment and adhered some of the enamel stickers.
Placed some coordinating paper at the inside of the card.

Stamps;

Frosty fun kit and Made of Snow.

Wishing You a Cool Christmas!

Hi there!
Samantha here today, and I'm sharing a sweet, little Christmas card with you!

I always try to start thinking about/making Christmas cards at the end of September...I sprinkle them in with my other cards, so I know I'll have enough when it comes time to send them out!! Despite these best laid plans, I always feel like I'm scrambling around at the last minute to get cards out! Ha! Tell me I'm not alone!! :)

So, let's start making this card!
- on a piece of white cardstock, use transluscent embossing paste through your stencil. Before you remove the stencil, splatter on some watercolor.
- remove your stencil and clean! :)
- set aside your cardstock to dry
- stamp and color your image. I watercolored my images with Distress Markers! :)
- fussy cut out

- once the embossing paste is dry, blend a little light colored Distress Ink around the card. I used Tumbled Glass.
- heat emboss the sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock
- attach the images with foam tape

You don't have to use transluscent embossing paste if you don't like it, or don't have it! Any texture paste will give fun, subtle interest to the background of your card!

I used the adorable Made of Snow stamp set for that CUTE moose snow man! Ha! The sentiment was a combination of phrases from that set and the Cool Buddies set! I used the Double Stitched Rectangles Die to cut out my background! And the Wave of Snowflakes Stencil created that sweet, soft background!

Make sure you hand around the Create a Smile Friends and Family group on Facebook and the Create a Smile Stamps Instagram to look out for the details for the new October release! There will be sneak peeks and fun leading up to the release and you're going to go crazy for these new products! Trust me!

A Totally Cool Birthday

Hello, Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a fun little boy-ish card with you today! :)

I was totally inspired by one of my little Mann's shirts, to be honest! I just loved that little bear, and so I knew I could create a cute little guy like it from the Made of Snow stamp set!

To create this card, you'll need some patterned paper, some markers and a lot of fun! :)

- stamp and color the images with your favorite coloring tools! I used Copic markers, but this would look just as adorable watercolored!
- fussy cut and add foam tape to the back of the images

- cut down the patterned paper to size, and add strips of washi tape
- heat emboss sentiment and attach images

It's honestly that simple! :)

I used images and part of the sentiment from the Made of Snow stamp set! The sentiment is from the Mini-Birthday stamp set! And that awesome grey paper is from the Snow Dance kit! LOOOOOOVE it!

I really LOVE this design! You could use this same placement (sentiment, image, etc) and create a totally different look!!

Don't forget to get your own Create a Smile paper!! It's SUPER thick and awesome quality!!!

Thanks again for joining me!

Merry Christmas!

Hey stampers, Anni here!
Today I have another card for you using the Set Made of Snow but this time for a Christmas card.

After last week's card I couldn't stay away from this cute set. As I challenge myself to make two Christmas cards each month I decided to use the cute deer this time.

  • If you add Glossy Accents to your baubles you can easily add a little bit of shimmer by sprinkling a little bit of glitter on it.
  • If you have a small image, place it on a die cut to make it stand out.
  • Making Christmas cards all over the year helps reducing the stress in already busy December.

Sending You Bear Hugs

Hi, Anni here! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I wanted to use this cute little bear from the set Made of Snow but I didn't want to make it a winter related card! Without the bodies the critters work perfectly for anytime of the year!

This is an easy card to make:

  • Stamp, color and fuzzy cut the images.
  • Add some ink blending to your card panel.
  • Stamp the sentiment and add the missing word with alphabet stickers.
  • Assemble the card.

  • If you don't have the sentiment you need in your stash use alphabet stickers. They are perfect to emphasize a word, too!
  • The ink blending is a great way to anchor your images.
  • Just for the extra little something add Glossy Accents on a few areas on your card.

We LOVE to see your creations using Create a Smile products! Add your link to the sidebar! You have the chance to win a prize!
