House of Cards January Sketch Challenge

Oh, I am so excited - this is the first time for me on the House of Cards DT! For this month it is a sketch challenge. If you are not familiar with the rules, you can read them HERE Since I am on the CAS team I choose to do a one-layer card with the sketch.  I die cut the oval with a die-namics die and used it as a mask, which I then sponged in green and yellow - perhaps deep down I am longing for spring......The flower is by Studio G, the sentiment is Papertrey Dress Form. I "grounded" the flowers with some quick black pen strikes  - it also separates the sentiment from the medallion, just like in the sketch. You have two weeks to link up your CAS or Classic and Elegant card with House of Cards. I hope to see your creations there! I am also submitting this card to the brand new One Layer Simplicity challenge  #1 - restock your shelves - its meant to be a birthday card - I always need a lot of those..... Thanks for ...

CAS Colours and Sketches #50

The   CAS Colours and Sketches  challenge is almost over and I need to get this card in before it is too late... I used an off white card stock - that does not really show here... The stamp is Studio G. I clear embosssed it and then sponged around, masking only the bottom and left side. The sentiment is by PTI. I mounted it onto suede colored card stock, added tiny Memory Box pearls and some Stickles. You can see the Stickles better on the close-up: It came out nice. It has such a light feel to it and I like the subtle glitter! I wish you all a great day - hope you liked what you saw and come back soon again!

OLW #154

One Layer Wednesday  - One-One-One is the challenge,  meaning one stamp, one color and one sentiment. A nice little twist on one layer cards. I decided to also do some sponging to give it more depth. Or is that not allowed? I have no idea. Maybe I should call it one-one-one-one? Just kidding.  Materials: Inkadinkadoo Meadow, sentiment - Papertrey Happy Trails

Inkspirational Challenge #34

I looked at this inspiration photo from Inkspirational several times - but tonight the inspiration struck!  And that's what happened: A modern twist on it........ I used to die cut circles and sponged around them. The "LOVE" letters are Papertrey and the bird is Memory Box. I used the same ink to color the bird - any one of my grey papers did not fit. I put a small enamel dot as eye and I used some sparklers from Stampendous for the little bling. Oh yeah, the red strips are just done with markers.  --X-- And now its late - I wish you all a good night and thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving all those beautiful comments - I LOVE them so much!

The Paper Players

The Paper Players  challenge is one layer cards. I really like to make them. Initially I found them impossible to make, but I have learned a lot from Heather Telford and just got better over time.  Practice does help. I really like this card. My husband just shrugged his shoulders - it was too bland for him. But I find it quite expressive. I made it for a friend of mine, who had one of her good friends die and she emailed me today about it. So its kind of a sympathy card. Materials: waterdrops - Ryn Tanaka stamps, sentiment - Hero Arts Leaf Print Cl395,

House of Cards

Classic and elegant is the theme at House of Cards this week. The sketch remains the same. I somewhat freely interpretated the sketch. I punched out a 2 inch circle. I sponged the background of the panel behind it.  I used the Memory Box Fresh Daisies die and then used the negative die cut to sponge the daisies onto the colored panel. The sentiment is from Stempelknopf. I like the yellow/grey combo - I hope you like it too.  Wanna see more Canada pictures? I thought I show you some wildlife today:     Pretty amazing, those animals. we had so much fun watching them.

10 Minute Craft Dash #16

The 10 Minute Craft Dash has 3 pretty colors this week. After I pulled out my Watercolor stamps by Hero Arts a little while ago for the scramble I though I may as well use them for the dash.  I knew exactly what I wanted to make and thought it would be rather quick. I masked my panel off the white card base and started sponging leisurely. Inked up my stamps with the same colors and put them over the panel, placed the sentiment and checked my stop clock - panic - only less than a minute to go - grabbed my bottle of glossy accents and tried to adhere the sequins - lost one, grabbed the next and puh.... 9 minutes and 58 seconds, just made it in the nick of time....If I would have gone over I would have just done it again - wasting less time sponging and maybe omitting the sequins. But I think it looks prettier with them. What do you think? I am also submitting this card to the Simon Says Anything Goes challenge Materials: Hero Arts ...

A Year in Review

I am an old copy cat.....I saw a lot of people going through their card creations of 2012 and though that is such a neat idea! My blog only exists since October, but I certainly have cards from every month. And here are my favorites from 2012: January: February: March: April: May:    June: July:   August:   September:   October: November:   December:   As you can see, I could not decide on single cards for each month, so I choose two. Oh well... Lots of pictures, I know. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoyed them. But regardless - I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR and lots of crafting fun for 2013!!!!
