Jim Rhodes stars in ongoing series Iron Man 2.0
I bet you didn't know War Machine (the black Iron Man played by Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2
) was getting his own ongoing book called Iron Man 2.0... oh, you did? Well, I had no idea! Not sure why this surprises me, but it does. Makes sense though, since they are making these multi-gillion dollar movies now. Way to capitalize Disney!
I'm sorry, what was I saying? OH RIGHT! Peep some preview pages from issue one and two of the series below...

WWWMD: What Would War Machine Do?
"When I first got on the set, there was a dispute going on between Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. about [Jim Rhodes’] character,” Bob Layton explains. “That’s how I was introduced to them. It was like, ‘here’s the guy who helped create the character, why don’t we ask him?’"
Layton is a veteran comicbook writer and artist, and co-creator of War Machine and his altar-ego Jim Rhodes. with the Iron Man 2 ready to bring War Machine to the screen in all his glory, MTV News reached out to Layton for an interview. “I can’t really tell you anything particular about the story,” continued Layton. “But there’s a point where Tony and Jim are in disagreement on something pretty major. They were trying to understand what Jim’s motivation would be in that situation. I was flattered that they asked me my opinion on it.”
Layton is being modest: in addition to helping to create the War Machine/Jim Rhodes character, he helped create the Demon In A Bottleholla!

Iron Man 2 trailer
If you haven't already seen that IronMan 2 trailer apple.com has on their website, click the pic above to check it out. Iron Man was one of the pleasant surprises of 2008, now just as Marvel's War Machine comic is wrapping up we're getting the next wave of marketing for his big screen appearance. War Machine doesn't have any dialogue in the trailer (nor does his unmasked alter-ego Jim Rhodes, played this time around by Don Cheadle), but he's clearly playing a prominent role. The first film did a good job of balancing light-hearted comedy with dark attitude and action, so hopefully this one will too.

"Damn... Next Time..."
After the dust settles from Secret Invasion, those crazy kids at Marvel are launching a new ongoing War Machine series. starring Tony Starks' homey Jim Rhodes (played by Terrence Howard in Iron Man). the sales pitch: "Across the globe, butchers and tyrants are committing the most horrific atrocities imaginable. The outside world won't raise a finger to stop them, but now Jim Rhodes is on the job. And forget a finger – he’s raising a couple of ginormous shoulder mounted rocket cannons!"
War Machine #1 by Greg Pak (World War Hulk) and Leonardo Manco (Deathlok) hits stores at the same time as Iron Man #8, which sports the title "World's Most Wanted, pt 1"... In the aftermath of SECRET INVASION, Iron Man is no longer the hero he used to be, and Tony Stark's entire life is torn apart. We can’t say much now, but…how bad does it get?
we'll see, i guess... both books will be in stores in December 17!

Tony Stark Doesn't Care about Black People!
Iron Man star Terrence Howard got the boot from the super-popular superhero franchise because he wanted too much money... or so the story goes... "the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on..." said Howard, in an NPR interview, denying that he was vying for more scrilla. As far as i know, Howard is being replaced in IM2 by Don Cheadle (Traitor, Ocean's 11, Hotel Rwanda, Devil In A Blue Dress)
, but DC hasn't released a statement yet... whoever portrays Jim Rhodes in the next Iron Man will be suiting up in the souped up Mark II armor in an increased role as War Machine, just like he did in the comics when Tony was too sauced to fly...uno.
