Bow Ties are tied together

This is where I am at so far with my bow Ties.
I am excited that it nearly is a top.
I started these bow ties back in May 2014.
It's about time they were finished

I am so glad I have worked out why my photos have been fuzzy.
This is much better.
I am loving my design wall.

I have now counted up the blocks, measure the quilt and have a pattern.
It measures 65" x 77".
I love it as it is and won't be putting any borders on it.

EDITED..... AFTER GETTING THE TOP DONE I WILL BE ADDING BORDERS TO IT..

GO GOLDEN YELLOW

Look at this fun ABC fabric I got. It is big enough for the basic LITTLE LETTERS quilts I have been making. I picked it up from spotlight for $2.  I'm not sure if it will fit this one I am doing just now.

It is yellow/gold month over at Angela's  So Scrappy. RSC18.

I have been working on my 8" 3d Bow Tie blocks.
I need about 44 of these blocks to make my quilt square. Then I will decide if I want it into a rectangular shape. I have 18 made now..

Bow Ties as Leaders and Enders

While I have been getting back into my sewing I also have dragged out a UFO.
It's my 3d bow tie block/quilt.
I'm not following a pattern and am making it up as I go.
I am using this quilt as my leader and ended project.
I wanted a tunnel effect.
I started with 2" blocks for the centre.
Moved on to 4" blocks.
Now I'm filling the outer corners with 8" blocks.
I'm not sure if there is too much of a step up with this size. I'll have to wait and see.
It's already good measuring 5 feet across.
I'm wondering if I'll keep it square or go different and make it rectangular in shape.
I do prefer rectangular quilts.

More basting

My Monday group are a great bunch of ladies. We all help each other and we are a great support group in many ways. This week we basted a beautiful quilt made by Rhonda.
She has done an amazing job making this lovely 3D Bow Tie quilt for a male.,it is made with gorgeous Japanese prints. So manly.
Rhondas 3D Bow Tie quilt.

It is a large quilt. Now for it to be quilted. It's stunning....

Retreat time with Kilmore Quilters.

I was lucky enough to go away with 30 great ladies from the Kilmore Quilters for 4 days on a retreat.
We went to Toolangi. The atmosphere was fantastic with lots of stories, laughter and so much work being done. The food was the best I have ever had while being away. I wanted to stay.
I have already shown some of my work that I did.
Bon bons & blankets of love.
Here are some other things I was working on.
My Bow tie Quilt that was a class Andrea showed us last year. Of course mine is a little bit different than what was shown. I am still working on it...

I also taugh a couple of ladies how to crochet the easy Pussy Cat Blanket. Here are  the girls hard at work...

ANNIKA concentrating

Look at Annikas progress, Cathy starting out...

Liz enjoyed sitting by the fire doing her HEXIES

I managed to get my borders on my Quilters garden Quilt. It is now ready for quilting...

I am still working on my Compass Rose tablerunner and mat... That I was working on at my Phillip Island retreat... They are nearly finished.

My 6" block swap.

Middle of the month and we get notified of our new partner.
I have Anne. She wanted an Hour Glass block or Flying Geese blocks. In 2 colours. 1 plain 1 pattern.
I followed a tutorial for an hour glass. Very basic.
I liked the fabric I recently bought with the buttons and just had to use it.

Then I wanted to try a 3D flying geese block. So I followed this tutorial.
http://www.generations-quilt-patterns.com/3d-flying-geese-quilt-block.html
I had fun with this. I liked it.
Hope Anne does too.

They were done very quickly and are in the mail now...

Just received my blocks from Anne. She only had to do 2 blocks but there was 3 in the envelope. Lucky me.

My retreat work

What I got up to at the retreat
I worked on a few projects but haven't taken photos yet.
My list of what I did.....

My dragon fly quilt for AUSSIE HEROS organised by Jan-Maree
(Just finished quilting it a week later)
The colours are a pale blue and pink. The backing was more of a purple but the dragonflies are so cute. The request was for baby blue & pink & dragonflies.
I think I have covered it.
I just love this pattern and I spent my first day of the retreat cutting, ironing and machine blanket stitching it. A friend from my Monday group was the artist that drew it for me. I did get the idea from Pinterest. I stippled all over to give the applique pieces a little more strength. Now to finish stitching the label.

My LITTLE LETTERS from Temecula Quilt Co

I did some more Honour Blocks and Nearly Insane blocks.
Photos still to come.
Then I worked on some BOW TIE blocks.
Wow.. I still have some photos to come and catch up.

Joy's 3D Bow Tie Quilt

I know that Joy loved her quilt.
It was her birthday and a special day for us all. We were all together when we gave it to her.
Here we are all in one photo together.
It came out so lovely with all the buttons on it.
Well done to all the girls.
From left to right.

https://www.millrosecottage.com.au/retreat
this is such a beautiful place to stay. They have a cafe next door and a quilt shop as well.
What a fantastic time away

My partner this month in the 12" block swap was Narelle.
Narelle wanted me to do any block in Black & White.
I know that sounds easy but choosing a block is a big decision.
I went with one that I had made years ago and a member of Kilmore Quilters showed everyone attheir retreat. I have since shown my friends I sew with on a Monday. It is a fun and easy block to do.
The 3D BOW TIE block.

I also sent a little gift to get her into the Christmas spirit.

Bow Ties is Quilted

My Monday friends have put together a quilt for a friend.
She is going through a tough time so needs a little TLC.
THIS IS WHAT WE DID.
A lovely 3d Bow Tie quilt in pastels.
We all pitched in with fabric. Jill advised, Rhonda assembled it, I quilted it & Barb bound and labelled it.

Joy was overwhelmed.
It was also her birthday.
It is a lovely quilt.  Well done girls
