LITTLE LETTERS ABC

Another day of sewing ABCs.
I have them up on my design wall. A lot of good that did me!
I sewed the wrong borders on letters N & Z. I cannot be bothered redoing them so they are staying swapped around into their new position. Even though I now have 3 red ones together... I don't mind.

Another member of our local group has made a quilt too. Here is the finished comfy quilt. Well done Margaret.

To get the pattern for this great quilt have a look at Sheryl bog...

Thanks Sheryl for a fun kids quilt pattern.

My greens are tipped out for a fun day of sorting, cutting and sewing back together again.
I do have a few projects going on where these will fit right in.
Green is Such a happy and bright, fresh colour.
Join me in sewing along with RSC 18.

I have all my tools together for a fun day of sewing.
And a little bow tie block starts us off.

This is a filler block for this ABC LITTLE LETTERS quilt designed by Sheryl
I need 4 but the others are different colours.

Here are 2 letters for my baby quilt. They are coming together nicely.

I LOVE MAKING THESE LETTERS. THEY ARE FUN AND EASY TOO.

LITTLE LETTERS ABC with a TOUCH of the 1930's

On one of my trips down south to see family I stopped in at Gail's Patchwork Emporium to buy a 1930s fat 1/4 for a friend. There were some lovely prints and I bought myself some too.
I spotted this, oh so cute, picture fabric. It shows the children playing, doing chores and having fun at different times of the day.
This was a perfect piece for me to put into my Little Letters quilt I wanted to make.
I wanted it a little bigger than the pattern and thought this would be just right.
 AND IT IS......

All the strips are cut to get the maximum out of the placements of pictures.
I do not want to waste any of it.

All the blocks are cut from the panel.
They are not square but measure. 5" * 5.75" cut...
I have put them in time order to sewinto the quilt.
Now to start the letters.
Here they are going together.
The letters are alternated with the picture blocks.
Telling a story of what goes on during the day.
I have laid out the letters as you learn and sing the song.

I have built up the letters from a 4" finished block and added small borders to match the alternating picture blocks. I am not putting sashing in...

Thank you to Sheryl for designing these Little Letters.

I have done some sewing...

And I have 2 finishes...

I have been sewing the Little Letters quilts from.
Here they are finished.
2 quilts done in 2 sizes ready for my quilt group to sew along with me to do some more..

Here is the green quilt done with alternating solid squares just to make the quilt a little bigger.
I am very happy with it..

Oh so pretty, I love the backing...

This was taken about 8pm because it has been so hot here.
The lighting isn't the best but it is all I have.

And the 2 rolled up so pretty.

ABC Little Letters Quilt..

Thank s to Sheryl's great tutorial for this fun pattern..
http://temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com.au/search/label/Little%20Letters

I have started with this plan to make a bigger size kids quilt..

I wanted to make this one a bit bigger.
The letters are all scrap fabrics.
I decided to use one constant green and put it as the alternate blocks.
When I put the borders on it will be a great size.
This one is as per the pattern. I am yet to put the borders on. The yellow is all the same for the letters..

This was our Christmas gift..
Thanks Rob & Rebecca

I have the green blocks laid out so I can plan the cutting of the left over letters.

They are all cut out and ready for sewing.
I am enjoying making these again..

I have been sewing them together. They are getting there..
Thanks Sheryl for this amazing cot quilt pattern. This will be my 5th quilt I have made using her pattern. Please take a look and give it a go...

Baby Little Letters.

I am also going to be putting in the newsletter each month next year a Sew Along for this cute baby LITTLE LETTERS quilt from... SHERYL @
http://temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com.au/2014/09/little-letters-getting-started-and.html

This is such a cute quilt and I have already made 3. My friend is making the basic one and I am doing 2 different variations to make it bigger. These will be completed to show in January so everyone can see that you don't have to do it just one way.

I am making it in White & Yellows and another in Creams and all types of Greens.

I am sure these quilts will grow quickly once I get stuck into them. I managed to get 11 of the blocks done in one day. They only measure 4.5" as the letters and with the sashing they are 6.5". Oh so cute.

Sheryl has so many great ideas and patterns on her blog. If you are into minis it is especially the place to check out.

Learn your ABCs with these Little Letters

I made a few of these alphabet quilts a couple of years ago. They are beautiful baby gifts.
Thanks to Sheryl I am making some more.
These blocks are on 4" and have the sashing in between which I am putting on as I go.
The yellow and white quilt is being done in the same fabrics throughout the other is going to be all scraps of cream tone on tone and greens. The blocks really don't need much fabric at all.

If you want to Sew along with me go and have a look at how Sheryl did it.

Sheryl has done a great job with the instructions and lovely photos.
Make sure you leave a note to say hi and you are coming over from here.

First finishes for 2015

I have had the tops done for my 3 LITTLE LETTERS baby quilts for a few weeks now..
The patterns are by Sheryl at
Sheryl put out the patterns twice a week so I slowly followed along.
Today I quilted them all.
I tried a new quilting design that I have seen on some blogs lately. I had fun with it.
This is such a great quilt for a baby..

This pink one has an off centre spiral. It was done using only the foot spacing. It is quilted heavier than I normally do but I think it looks good.
This will be a present for a friend this month..

You can't really see the green letters with this photo but they are pretty
I started the spirals small and moved out to a larger spacing. I am happy with it.

Here are all 3 hanging together.

And the backings were a great bargain. 2 were from Ballan when I was there on retreat. The other one  I have had for a while. They all have the alphabet on them so they were a perfect choice.

Next on today's list was some bags. My mum was giving these knitting Nancy kits to a family with 3 children. She wanted a bag to store all the pieces together with some wool.
A drawstring was used for ease.

Because there was 3 children I decided to make an extra work in progress bag for each of them. At telecast then they store there work all together without leaving a mess for their mum or losing anything.
I hope they are happy with them.

I am Also  linking up with NTT
I am not sure if I will make some more of these quilts but maybe. They were fun and a great baby quilt

Working on my LITTLE LETTERS

I thought I would work on my LITTLE LETTERS today for a bit of a relaxing day.
My girlfriend got called in to a fire so I looked after her son while she was out fighting fires in Mia Mia... She wasn't out there long, only a few hours. I put on a video, so old school, made him lunch and talked... He also played with some of my sons old toys... He was happy. My video player was in my work room so I sewed... Lucky me...
I had a good day.
I finished off all the letters and blocks needed for my 3 quilts.

Here are the blues... The colours aren't quite right but they are suitable for a baby.

And then the pinks....

Now for the greens. These are so pretty.
I have a friend who is due in January. She is having a girl but has decorated the room in green.
I'm not sure if I will be giving this to her.
CAN YOU SEE THE MISSING LETTER

WELL......It was there but......
I DROPPED THE IRON, broke the iron, BURNT THE CARPET then ironed the block without thinking.....

Looked what happened.... I need to make another block....

After looking at the photo above I also noticed the letter C was around the wrong way so I thought it was time to stop sewing for the night.
I will hopefully finish them off at FNSI....
