INTERNATIONAL SISTERS BREAKING THE RULES.

THIS WAS OUR LAST NIGHT TOGETHER BEFORE GROUP GATHERINGS WERE BANNED.
This COVID-19 has gone crazy.
Quilters have plenty to stitch at home but we miss the group visits and chats.

Our group got together for an International Sisters Workshop.
It was a relaxed fun night. If we only knew what was to come.
I had a sample block made and some more cut out. Most people made 2 blocks.

The ladies from the other end.
We are very lucky to have this space available to us every week.
We now appreciate it even more now that we cannot get together and use it.
I think we should have a party when we finally can meet again.

Here are the nights efforts made by this group of ladies. It was a fun tutorial night.

Preeti kindly gave me permission to share her pattern at my group.
Let's all support her too. Go over and see what she is up to.

I really want to thank PREETI for her kindness.

And here are my sisters breaking the social distance rules and sticking together as one.

My KRIS KRINGLE

WOW, what a night we had. The meal was great, the game was great and we all went home with our potholders and some went home with a KRIS KRINGLE gift.

Here is mine....
I don't know who made it.

Here is the inside.
It has a pocket and 4 pages of felt to hold my cut blocks in place until I'm ready to sew them.

And for the other side..

I do like the colours
The quilting design looks good.

And the game was a whole lot of fun...

Kris Kringle game

When it's time for our Kris Kringle gifts to be exchanged I have decided we will play a little game.

...PASS THE PRESENT
....DIRTY SANTA
....THIEVING SANTA are other names it goes by.
Each person rolls the dice and follows the instruction on the number showing.

The dice is made with a 5ltr water cask. A big Xmas bell is put inside and then all wrapped up with instructions pasted on.
All ready to roll on the night.

Then I printed the instructions onto A3 size and laminated them. This way they will be easy to see.

This should be a fun night...

Mystery quilt with SPF

Every year a few from our group has a mystery quilt sewing night as a fundraiser. We all bring a dish for dinner,  do a bit of sewing and make a donation to cancer research.
This year I think we raised $300.

Well done to everyone.
Sandra prepares the instructions and guidance.
Now on to the sewing. We got some cutting & sewing preparation work instructions.

Here is the finished block.

Now for me to get my quilt top done to look like this...
The finished quilt.

Xmas tree decorations

I took a class at my local quilt group. Each year they decorate a tree at the Visitors Information Centre. I chose to show how to make these cute Santa heads, sewn by machine.
I foundation pieced them and they were so quick to make.
The tree will look lovely.

AND THESE XMAS WREATHS ALL HAND STITCHED.

This covered everyone in the group that wanted to make them and join in on the fun..

These are made with wooden curtain rings, 6 Suffolk puffs, some ribbon and some felt.
How pretty do they look.

These decorations will look great hanging on the Tree.
Or they are really good gifts too.

Placemats are done

Here are the last of the placemats I have made for charity.
These are being given to MEALS ON WHEELS recipients for Xmas.
They should be ok for the guys.
They have wattle, gum nuts and gums leaves printed on them. Very Australian.
I made these up years ago when I first started ruler work machine quilting.
They were practice and sample pieces of each of the rulers. They are not fantastic works but I'm sure they will make someone happy.
I have now made about 20 to donate and this finish has made a space for me to pull out another UFO.

Aussie Hero laundry bags workshop at Sunraysia Patchwork Friends

I held a workshop at our group to show how the laundry bags are made.
The ladies learnt and made some at home.

We now have a total of 50 to send to the Chaplin in Malaysia.
He will distribute them within the troops.

I'll get some photos soon when they are all handed in..

Thankyou to all the ladies for helping me with this project.
Thanks

Gift giving time...

We are having a Kris Kringle give away at Xmas break up. I have already shown you the bag I made but here it is again...

I have wrapped it up special

I am in charge of the gift exchange so I am planning a little game to play when we swap our gifts.

We are taking part in a birthday fat 1/4 swap. Who ever wants to take part puts their name on the list with a fabric choice. ie.. colour, type, print... My choice is anything red, white or blue..
When it's your birthday you will then receive a fat quarter from everyone playing along. We have 2 groups with 10 people in each. I can't wait for my birthday...
Here are my first 2 wrapped up.

I have done a little bit of sewing...

After suffering a migraine foe a day or two I sat at the machine.
Our quilt group has decided that the gift this year for KRIS KRINGLE is to be a cute little bag. It can be done in any colour and embellished any way.
Years ago I made a coffee cup bag using this fun technique so thought I'd give it another go.
There is a bit of cutting and sewing involved but it's worked out great.
And here is the finished bag.
The pocket adds a little bit extra. This wasn't in the pattern but I thought I'd put one in.

And look at the fun fabric.. A sewers life..

There are a great deal of patterns offered for free. Pop on over to have a look and hopefully make something..

Where have I been

Ive been to our quilt show and back........
I can't believe I haven't been here for quite a while. No excuses really except that I have been feeling flat and couldn't be bothered doing anything..Time to change....
Here are some photos I've taken on my phone of some of the beautiful quilts on display.

We had a spring theme and this was made and placed at the entrance. HOW CUTE..

And now for the lovely coloured quilts..
