Snowmen Trio

Hi and welcome!  I'm here with a card for the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge and this week, I'm your hostess.

This is the third iteration of this card!  The snowmen were on all three cards and were re-housed three times until I decided this would be their home 😄 I ink-blended a night sky onto a piece of white cardstock using Distress Inks and then die-cut with both the Inside/Out Stitched Circle die and the Galactic Background die.  I used the dies from Scenic Snow Globe to create my background scene, adding some Snow Marker for snowy dimension.

The snowmen come from last year's Stamptember Gina K set and the sentiment comes from this year's Stamptember Gina K set.  To try and disguise that I stamped the sentiment a bit too far left, I added some irridescent snowflake sequins.

And, in the interests of full disclosure, the smallest snowman is sitting up a little bit too high but I had to position him like that as I damaged the snowman beside him moving him around so many times!

Thanks for visiting!  The DT have created some gorgeous cards from my sketch so I hope you'll check them out.

I'm going to link this up to the Holiday challenge at Addicted to Stamps.

Hey Friend

Hi and welcome to Freshly Made Sketch Challenge Day!  This week, our resident Queen of Layers, Narelle is our hostess and here is her sketch:

Now, I sort of didn't remember the sketch accurately and my panels are more centred than on the sketch.

I loosely painted some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink onto a white card base and set it aside to dry.  Then I stamped the tablet image and colored it with some grey Copics.  The banner was white embossed on black and once the card base was dry, I stamped the border image from the stamp set in black ink.

The tablet and banner were adhered using foam tape and I finished the card with some blue sequins.

Thanks for visiting.  Be sure to check out the wonderful cards made by the rest of the design team.

I'm entering this card into the Banners challenge at Cupcake Inspirations, and the CAS challenge at Addicted to Stamps.

Pumpkin Girl

Hi!  I'm sneaking in quickly to post this card before the linky closes at Retro Sketches!  I'm also linking up to the challenge at ColourQ, Addicted to Stamps, who have a Halloween inspired picture and Simply Create Too, who are asking for Halloween colors.

I stamped and colored my pumpkin girl before fussy cutting her out.  I then dug out some Kiwi Kiss cardstock and layered a strip onto some black and adhered that down the center of a white card base.  The sentiment is white embossed and popped up on foam tape.  Finally, the girl is also stuck down on foam tape and "sitting" on the sentiment strip.

Thanks for visiting.

Muse Birthday

Hi!  Today's card was made for the current Muse Challenge, the CAS theme at Addicted to Stamps and the Anything Goes Challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

The inspiration I took from Tracey's fabulous card was the general layout with the vertical image, the horizontal banner and the flowers.  I also tried to stick close to the colors Tracy used and the white-embossed, non-scripty font on the sentiment.

For the vertical part of the layout I used a stencil and some embossing paste.  The banner was sponged with Melon ink and then white-embossed and die cut.  The flowers were colored with Copics before being die cut and popped up on foam tape.  Behind the flowers and banners is a wad of silver thread.

Thanks for visiting.

Music Notes

The color challenge at Dynamic Duos this week is Basic Black and River Rock - a gorgeous combination.  The team at Addicted to Stamps have a Cards for Boys challenge going and I think this card would fit (edited to add:  missed the deadline at Addicted to Stamps - oops).  I have no idea how my mind worked to get to my finished card, but here it is.

I just love the tone-on-tone look of the music notes die on the Basic Black card base.  I chose the sentiment because it looks like it's being sung and that keeps with the theme.  I cut out a few individual notes from a third die cut to place around the sentiment.  My 2-way glue pen got a workout with this card, let me assure you LOL.

Thanks for looking.

Products used (all Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted):

Stamps:  Happiest Birthday Wishes
Cardstock:  Basic Black; Neutrals DSP Stack
Ink:  Basic Black

Ornate Blossom

This is the third of three cards I've made today.  The other two will be posted shortly.  I made this card for two challenges - this week's Freshly Made Sketch challenge and the second challenge at Addicted to Stamps which is a Bingo challenge.  In case it's not obvious from my card, I chose Stamp, Emboss, Blue.

Here is my card:

and open (no insert as yet - I never do that until I use the card - because I'm lazy LOL):

I chose to use the sketch as inspiration for a gatefold card.  I haven't made one of these in years!  My stamp-a-majig came in very handy lining up the Ornate Blossom stamp across the center as I had to stamp each side separately to get full ink coverage.  Once I'd stamped in Whisper White Craft Ink, I used the VersaShadow Technique to highlight the images.

The main panel is white embossed on Island Indigo.  I also used a ruler to draw a frame around the main image.  An antique brad holds the card closed.

Here are the challenges:

Just Buzzin' By

As mentioned in my previous post, here is my second card for this week's Freshly Made Sketch Challenge.  I'm also submitting this for a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps which is to use markers.

I caved and got some Copic markers (DH very kindly paid for them for Mother's Day).  I only got 25 colors but I already need more.  What have I got myself into??? LOL.  Anyway, this is only the second time I've had a play with these markers, so I'm very much at the beginning of the learning curve - but man, they're fun!

I went hunting for a stamp set that required coloring and found this one, which is so cute!  Everytime I see these little bees, it reminds me of The Bee Movie, which I love.  I dry embossed the base with a woodgrain EF and made sure to match the wood-graining on my Chocolate Chip scallops as well for continuity.

Thanks for looking.

Products used (all Stampin' Up! unless otherwise stated):

Cardstock:  Daffodil Delight; Chocolate Chip; Whisper White; Shimmery White; Brights DSP Stack
Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black; Chocolate Chip
