Up In The Air

A quick post tonight as I managed to sneak in a little bit of time to make a card for the MFT Card Challenges sketch which closes in a few hours.  I'm also joining in with Seize the Birthday Anything Goes (as I wouldn't call this card CAS).  I did take a few liberties with the sketch but you can sort of see it!

I haven't done any Copic colouring for quite some time so I'm quite rusty.  Nevertheless, I quickly coloured up these images and die-cut them.  Onto a white panel I used a couple of stencils and some distress ink to create a background.  I then matted that panel onto a Wild Cherry panel and then onto a white card base.

I added the coloured images with foam tape and finished with some yellow enamel dots.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Brrrthday

Hi and welcome!  This is the last card I got to make as part of my week off work.  I used the colour challenge from Addicted to CAS, the Anything Goes challenge at Seize The Birthday as well as the Cold cue word at Inkspirational to come up with this card.

I stamped, Copic-coloured and die-cut the images and then arranged them onto a strip of black cardstock.  I did this partly because black was one of the challenge colours and also because it's a CAS theme and I didn't want to busy it up with a scene in the background.  I quite like the way the images pop off the black.

I stamped a sentiment onto a white cardbase, then adhered the black panel.  I added some clear sparkle pen on all the pom-poms and called it done.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Ink:  Amalgam (Gina K.), Versafine Onyx Black

Floral Corner

Hi all!  This is only the second card I've had time to make this week for fun!  My week off work has ended up primarily being spent running around after a puppy - a cute puppy nonetheless but not what I planned!

Anyway, I snuck into my craft room to come up with this card for a few challenges.  Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes With Dies, Seize the Birthday Anything Goes, Addicted to CAS Dies Only, Krafty Chicks CAS and Color Throwdown.

I've been playing with the NBUS Build-a-Wreath die set from Spellbinders.  I die-cut the various images from white cardstock and used distress inks and blender brushes to add colour to all the components.  I then arranged them into a pleasing design and adhered the elements together.  You can't see in the photos but I spritzed all the flowers and foliage with clear shimmer spray.

Onto a white cardbase I added a die-cut frame then the floral arrangement.  Finally, I tucked a hot foiled sentiment into the bouquet and called it done.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Products used:

Ink:  Forest Moss, Bundled Sage, Crushed Olive, Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Ground Espresso Distress Inks
Cardstock:  White
Dies:  Build-a-Wreath, Hexi Gem Sentiments Hot Foil (Spellbinders), Nesting Rectangle Frames (Waffle Flower)
Accessories:  Shimmer Spray, Gold Hot Foil

Cowboy Birthday

Hi!  I had some time today to make a card just for fun, which doesn't happen very often!  I was intrigued by the colours at Color Throwdown so that was my starting point.  From there I decided to use the cute Saddle Up and Celebrate set from MFT Stamps for my card:

I coloured up the images using the CTD colors and die-cut them with the co-ordinating dies.  When contemplating how to have them on a card, I thought the tag theme at CAS on Friday would work well.  So I die-cut a couple of tags and on one, I added some patterned paper to give the images some background.

I stamped the sentiment on the tag, added some twine and adhered the tags to a cream card base.

I'm also linking this up the the All Occasions challenge at Krafty Chicks and the No Toppings option at Seize the Birthday.

Products used:

Stamps:  Saddle Up & Celebrate, The Whole Herd (MFT)
Ink:  Amalgam (Gina K.), Versafine Onyx Black
Cardstock:  Whip Cream (MFT), Enchanted Evening (PTI), X-Press It, Spooktacular, Grain & Grunge (Honey Bee Stamps)
Dies:  Saddle Up & Celebrate (MFT), Stitched Traditional Tag Stax (MFT), Tag Sale #3 (for the reinforcer) (PTI)
Accessories:  Copics, Bakers Twine, white gel pen

25

Hi and welcome!  As I mentioned earlier in the week, I have had this week off work and as well as catching up with a few friends, I spent a bit of time stamping and it was wonderful!  Today is Saturday and Monday I'm back to work so I wanted to play along in a last few challenges before then.

This card evolved over the course of a few hours and as I was part-way through making it, I thought it would make a perfect birthday card for my late son, Matthew, who would be 25 next month.  I was firstly inspired by the latest Tic Tac Toe challenge and my eye was drawn to the word "Rust" and I immediately decided I wanted to try and re-create the rust patina on old cars.  Matthew loved cars and I know he'll love this card, even though there isn't a car on it.

To create the background, I went back to an old video of mine where I showed a technique I'd learned about 15 years ago, now.  Here's a link if you want to see how I made the background and here's how the background looked once it was finished.  I started with a panel of black cardstock and added Distress Paints in the following order (the video will make more sense of what I'm about to write):  Antiqued Bronze, Twisted Citron (spritzed), Antiqued Bronze, Broken China (spritzed), Cracked Pistachio (spritzed), Antiqued Bronze (sparingly).

From there, I had to decide how to use the panel and I came up with the idea of adding leaves down the left hand side, the number 25 to represent how old he would be and an inlaid metallic frame.  The leaves were die-cut from distress inked panels that were in my stash so I don't know the colours.  Once I'd cut them, I added some Foundry Wax in both Mined and Gilded to the edges and heat set it.

Two of the leaves were die-cut from a failed hot-foiled panel where I'd tried to use the solid hot foil plate after foiling a whole lot of sentiments.  It was a failure but I kept the panel because I could use the back.  However, I decided to use the front and I love how it came out.  There's a photo of what's left of the panel and a close-up of the leaves I cut from that panel.  I even left the letters in.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I have to say I absolutely love this card, and not only because of what and who it represents.  I'm a CAS card-maker so to dabble in these different products is unusual for me.

I'm also linking this card to the Many of Something challenge at Seize the Birthday (my second entry), the Four Seasons Fall challenge, Tic Tac Toe Challenge (Rust/Free/Any Shape Die) and the Happy Little Stampers Birthday and Dies Challenges.

Products used:

Stamps:  Bitty Birthday Wishes (MFT)
Ink:  Versamark, various Distress and Distress Oxide inks
Cardstock:  White, Black, Rose Gold Matte Foil

Accessories:  Distress Paint (Antiqued Bronze, Twisted Citron, Broken China, Cracked Pistachio), Foundry Wax (Mined, Gilded), Gilded Embossing Powder (Brutus Monroe)

Many Arches

Hi and welcome!  I'm at the beginning of a week off work and I have no plans but to relax, create and maybe catch up with a few friends - my idea of a perfect holiday!

This first card was made using the colours from The Paper Players and the Many of Something theme at Seize the Birthday.  I have many arches and used many blues in my masculine birthday card.

I silver hot-foiled the Geo Arches hot foil plate onto some white cardstock and then used the co-ordinating stencils to colour it.  Believe it or not, this has about 6 different blues on it!  I wasn't happy with the combo originally so went over a couple of stencils again with different blues.  I ended up with Prize Ribbon, Faded Jeans and Uncharted Mariner.

I die-cut it with a rectangle stax die and matted that onto silver foil before adding it to a black card base.  The sentiment was already hot-foiled with the same silver foil so it was easy to add some foam tape and adhere it to the card.

I'm also linking this card to the Happy Little Stampers Stencil and Birthday challenges.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Green Leaves

Hi and welcome!  Today's card was made for the Seize The Birthday/Color Hues collaboration challenges where the idea is to make a birthday card using navy and lime green.  I'm also linking up to the Repetition challenge at Inskpirational where I've repeated the die-cut elements and the scored lines.

I decided to go with a more masculine card featuring my favourite navy blue colour, Dark Indigo from Papertrey Ink.  I paired that with some alcohol-inked leaves and white polaroid frames to come up with this card.

The Dark Indigo panel was first partially embossed with the Subtle embossing folder then I added some score lines at the bottom before blending Chipped Sapphire ink around the edges to add more interest.  The sentiment was white-embossed.

The alcohol-inked panel was from my stash so I can't remember what ink colours I used.  The leaves were stacked using white die-cuts underneath the alcohol-inked panel.  I then die-cut some polaroid frames and arranged the elements onto the Dark Indigo panel.

Finally, I adhered it to a white card base using foam tape.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Ink:  Versamark, Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink, Alcohol Inks

Boxy Birthday

Hi and welcome to my last post as Surprise Party Guest over at Seize The Birthday.  I'd like to thank Nancy and the team for inviting me to play along these last two months.

Today's challenge is a sketch and here's what I did with it:

This adorable stamp set has been sitting in my NBUS box for a while so I decided to colour up this little kitty in a box and use him on a card.  The vertical hot-foiled strip was already done and sitting in my scrap box so this card didn't take too long to put together.  I hot-foiled the sentiment onto a black panel using the same foil as the vertical strip and then adhered all the elements to a white card base.  The cat and yarn is adhered using foam tape to give it a bit more dimension.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll head over to the challenge and have a go with this fun sketch.  And if you don't want to use the sketch, it's always Anything Goes Birthday.

And I've just realised that all four of my cards as Surprise Party Guest have hot-foiling on them.  Obsessed, much? 😀

Products used:

Stamps:  I Knead You (MFT)
Ink:  Amalgam (Gina K)
Cardstock:  White, Black, X-Press It, Aramena Cherry (MFT)
Dies:  Happy Birthday (Waffle Flower), Skinny Stripes Background (Spellbinders)
Accessories:  Gold Hot Foil, Black Glaze Pen
