Florida Fall featuring the 'Littles'!

We really don't have a problem seeing little things when we hike. We walk really slow! lol

Palm Warbler (thanks hubby for the photo!)

And we are constantly looking about!

Tiny wasp on Dotted Horsemint (it smells incredible, minty sweet!)

It's been perfect hiking weather here this past week and we even took one afternoon hike with it only in the 70s!

So here's a few of the 'littles' we saw on the trails.

Grasshopper

Shiny beetle

Hover fly (hard to photograph but so much fun to see)

Probably a Hornet and not as neat to see!

And not little! For a wasp, it was huge! lol

A teeny tiny moth!

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher

We're seeing a lot of these birds right now!

Feay's Palafox at top with honey bee, Cypress vine is the tiny red flower and a small purple morning glory.

Even this horse at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve was small!

Has your weather been nice too? Do you love getting outside in the Fall? The birds are returning to Florida so we've had some good sightings too! Lots of photos to sort through!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Humming right along!

We enjoyed some time in the mountains of North Carolina and took a few hikes while we were there too.

The first place we headed was Fletcher Park!

It never disappoints!

We watched this hummingbird while we enjoyed the flowers and art work in this part of the park.

It hovered right in front of our eyes!

I'm not sure what these red flowers were but the hummers loved them!

Our hike was a little stalled while we marveled at these tiny birds.

And around our condo there were lots of flowers planted to attract hummingbirds and hummingbird moths.

It was neat to see these moths every time we walked around outside.

Just one more! lol

It's fun to see different birds and flowers when you travel.

But back at Fletcher Park, I'll get a few photos of the Jeep with mountains in the background. This is Bernie Mt.

Oh and one more moth, a Skipper!

We had a good time but it's also nice to be back in Florida!

(even though it's too HOT to hike!)

Florida in February!

We start seeing flowers and flowering trees in the month of February here in Florida. We even have a fair amount of pollen already.

But it's beautiful!

And we love it!

Most of these were taken at Blue Run Park in Dunnellon, a nice place to spend a day any time of the year.

We usually go once a week and take a hike!

I hope everyone is seeing their weather improve now.

A few of the birds we saw that day.

(Anhinga, Red-shouldered Hawk and White Ibis)

How are you doing on this fine Monday morning?

Have you been able to get outside and walk any?

Photos that get left out!

A lot of photos are forgotten when we have an amazing sighting on a hike.

I'll give you a hint! When we were hiking the Florida Trails this week, we saw something that I had seen a couple of weeks ago. It was very near where I had seen it before and may have been the same one. lol It deserves a post all it's own because it was a Barred Owl! Coming soon!!!

And on that same hike we saw this neat bee or fly.

Does anyone know what it is? It was pretty small but oh so colorful!

And there were beautiful moths.

Flowers in bloom.

Another moth and a Flycatcher!

Trails leading into the deep woods with spiders in webs to avoid!

The beauty of the flutterby tree (I named it that...it flutters)!

And someone came out of their shoes at the trailhead! We didn't see anyone else on the trails so they were either lost in the woods or they went home without them. Are you missing your flip flops?

And even though I couldn't get any photos of it...
I stood in my backyard last night and watched Falcon 9's launch of the Dragon's first operational crew mission to the International Space Station. Read more about it HERE.  It launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida and I could see it from a distance. What a thrill!

What do you see in Florida in September?

You can look at the last few posts and take a WILD guess!

Butterflies!

And Wildflowers!

I'm not sure I remember seeing SO many butterflies at this time of year in the past.

But we have lots of different varieties right now.

I probably look like a crazy woman out on the trails, trying to hike and chase butterflies at the same time.

I've seen some beautiful birds and even some wildlife lately but the butterflies steal the show....

at least for this post!

We haven't had a big change in the weather but it does seem hopeful!

These were all taken on Hike #101 on the Florida Trails.

And of all things! I'm a butterfly whisperer too! (Debbie will be proud!) This is probably a little moth but it was funny when hubby said "STOP...STAND STILL!" I didn't know what was going on! But there it was...right on my old pink cap!

Has your weather improved this week?

Any signs of Fall where you live?
