Thanks For Being There

Hello there!

Happy Wednesday!

I took another break, unwillingly for a couple weeks.  Side effect of helping care for my mother and cleaning out her house after she passed - tendonitis in my right hand, my dominant hand.  So had to get a shot and  hopefully it gets rid of it. I'm just thankful I have no arthritis or anything else concerning.

So I had to rest it some before I tried to craft again. I spent Monday at Bonnie's for a craft day, desperately needed.  We had a lot of fun catching up and sharing goodies and crafting.  I played with a couple of her stencils, including this beautiful one by Papertrey Ink, Sunflower Garden.

I used Distress Inks for everything but my word die, which I used brown cardstock. I decided to ink up one of my geometric stencils when I got home to pair with it.  I used the basketweave stencil by My Favorite Things.  I did it twice and put one panel behind the sunflower panel and cut down the other one for a strip on the front behind my sentiment die.  Added another sentiment on some colored cardstock and was done. Both sentiments are by Catherine Pooler.

I'm slipping it in to the Stencil challenge at Just Us Girls before it ends today.

Wicked - Trick or Treat?

Good Morning!

It's morning but it's night time - so it's kind of Good Evening too.  I spent my Saturday evening and Sunday crafting after a busy non-crafty week other than Monday.  I did a bunch of die cutting and dry embossing this weekend as well as cutting cardstock for die cutting and also cardbases.  I did get three cards finished by Sunday night along with finishing a creepy audiobook and starting another.  The Babysitter Lives by Stephen Graham Jones was very creepy with a shocker ending. I love that, it keeps you drawn in til the end. Now I'm on to The Death of Jane Lawrence.  So far, it has a tinge of creepy but expect it get creepier.  It is my favorite month with many of my favorite things - scary movies, creepy scary books, Trick Or Treat and of course, Halloween cards. So, on to the Halloween cards...

This is the first one I made on Sunday.  I used the current sketch challenge by Karren at Freshly Made Sketches as my inspiration for putting this together.

Birthday Sunflowers

Hello!

I have another evening post.  Spent the afternoon in my craft room.  It pretty much took me all that time for this card as you will see why...

I wanted to play in the Double D Challenge, which was an inspiration photo of sunflowers. I have several different stamps/dies/stencils of sunflowers and what did I do?  I chose a very old flower die from Papertrey Ink and spent the time cutting out multiples of each flower and ink blending the top layers.  Had I been of sounder mind (I was also listening to a horror audiobook, so I was distracted, hahaha), I would have cut one layer from an adhesive sheet.  Oh well. Still, I had a lot of fun putting the flowers together while listening to my book.  I already had the blended background, which made things easier. Finally, I added the inked and die cut sentiment and used a white gel pen to make the seeds in the middle of my sunflowers.

For Following Challenges:

Weekly I.D.E.A.S. is from Darnell.  It is not exactly a challenge, just an inspirational jumping off point for each week.
