May Your Day Bloom With Happiness

It's Friday!
Happy almost weekend everyone!

It's a gorgeous day here in Cary, NC yet still a little chilly. Spring here is always back and forth.  Freezing one day, hot as July the next and then somewhere in between for a few days after that. That's where we are now,in between before HOT this weekend. SMH

But with that said, the trees are blooming, as are some flowers and the sun is shining. And I'm enjoying it for the moment from my craft window. I've been in more of a crafty mood lately, so I'm seizing my time, particularly since later next week we will be traveling.

I've been perusing through some of my UFOs lately and I found this panel of tulips I had begun water coloring a long while back. In fact, I believe the stamp belongs to my friend, Bonnie Klass(Stamping With Klass), because I know I don't have it. I'm sure a long way back during one of our crafty days together at her craft room is when I stamped it. I think it may be Penny Black? So now it's finished into a card(which may see its way to Bonnie's mailbox!). 😊 Thanks, Bonnie

I'm skirting in at the last minute for Jaydee's challenge at The Paper Players.  I seem to do that alot but hey, that's why they have deadlines isn't it? For us last minuters?  hahaha

Thank you for visiting my blog and hope you come back soon!

Thankful for Just Us Girls

Good Morning!

Today I am thrilled to say I am the Guest Designer at Just Us Girls for the whole month of September! Woohoo! This week's challenge is their color challenge and I have to say, it put me a little more into the fall mood. We also got some nice cooler weather the last couple days, but I'm not holding my breath that the Carolina swelter is gone just yet. September is peak hurricane season so don't think we're done with humidity yet.

I pulled out a floral stamp/stencil/die combo from Altenew because I knew it had to be a floral card and I knew the background was going to be blue. I stamped the flowers in Versamark and embossed them with gold embossing powder. Then, used the coordinating stencils to color them with dye inks and blending tool. I used the coordinating die to die cut it and two white dies to layer it up and glued them all together. I cut some blue cardstock and stamped it in Versamark and the Arched Background stamp by Simon Says Stamp and embossed it in the gold embossing powder. I trimmed that panel down and adhered it to some gold cardstock for some gold trim.  I adhered it to a white card base then attached the flower panel and cut off excess.  Finally, I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and embossed it gold, cut it out and two others in white for layers with the coordinating sentiment die.  I glued it on top and added a couple of gold gems to the flower centers.

So now it's your turn! Stop by the JUGS blog and check out all the team's creative inspiration and come play along!

Daffodil Greetings

Good Evening!

While the saying is "April showers brings May flowers", I have flowers for April.

I used the Daffodils in Bloom stamp set by Catherine Pooler Designs (CP Designs) for my card.  I stamped them in Lemon Sorbet, Creamsicle, Frosted and In The Park. I used a lovely matching patterned plaid from Easterpalooza pack (CP Designs) and cut the Greenhouse Gate cover plate out of vellum.  I also used the inside of the Framed Wings frame cut from vellum too.  The sentiment is from Gardeners Greetings stamp set stamped on a tag (Reverse Confetti) cut from Frosted cardstock.  Finished it off with some Crater Lake sequins.

Thank you for stopping by to see my craftiness.
Hope you come back soon!

Wonderful Bouquet

 Good Afternoon!

It's been a couple weeks since I shared anything.  It's been warm off and on here and so I've been taking advantage of it by getting out for some small hikes or sitting on the patio.  So the cats have been watching the craft room for me. LOL

I have been cleaning out in the craft room a little bit more.  In so doing, I've been going through the piles of backgrounds, unfinished images, unfinished cards trying to use them up finally in finished cards.  This post is one of them and I'm playing it in The Paper Players challenge and The Flower Challenge.  Both challenges are ending today so I'm squeezing it in.

In going through some piles, I found this bouquet, by Studio Katia, that I had made a long while back, using the bleach technique.  It's original background behind it had some goofs on it from the bleach so I had tossed it aside.  So, I decided to fussy cut the bouquet out to finally make it into a card.  I also had the shiplap stamped background in my stash I had discarded from another project. All added was the sentiment from the same stamp set as the flowers, Blooming Bunch, by Studio Katia.

For some glimmer and bling I had added some sparkle in the middle of the flowers but it has been too long for me to remember whether it's Wink of Stella or embossed powder or similar.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #516 - CAS

Good Morning!

Today is Thursday and time for a new challenge at Krafty Chicks Challenge.  Leanne is our hostess this week for our CAS challenge.

I used an old stamp from DRS Designs.  I think those "chick" flowers are so adorable and right up our alley at Krafty Chicks! 😉. I had a lot of fun coloring them with Copics.  I spent the afternoon sitting out on our patio in my new "egg" chair and it was sooo nice!  I can now have both of best worlds, a very comfy place to sit outside and do some coloring at the same time.

Check out my fellow Design Chicks' projects over at the Hen House. Then why not join for some crafty time.

Magical Birthday

Hello!  It's been a long while since I posted a non-DT card I believe.  My niece turned 3 last week so I had to make a birthday card.

I decided to do something simple and fun.  So I cased a card by Jennifer McGuire, which I loved, using Pink Fresh's "Magical Unicorn" stamp/die set.

I used Catherine Pooler Inks for the flower and leaf stamps/dies.  I think in Jennifer McGuire's tutorial she uses a light tan ink from Hero arts or Simon Says but I didn't have that.  I decided to try my no line ink by Ink Road and it worked perfectly for the background stamping.  As you see it left a subtle image.  The unicorn horn I stamped in Melon Ice, then stamped it again in Versamark and embossed it with the Melon Ice embossing trio of embossing powder, then the embossing Sparkle. Then glued it onto two white die cut horns.  The ears I die cut three times to bump them up. I lightly sponged some Be Mine in the middle of the ears. I stamped the eyelashes, added some grey shadow and then some sparkle.  Once I laid out the flowers how I wanted them, took a photo so I would remember placement and then glued them on.  I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Black Onyx and embossed in clear and added a little Nuvo Glimmer to pen for a little sparkle.  Lastly, I stamped the stars with the Ink On 3 no line ink all around the perimeter of the unicorn and then adhered it to a kraft cardbase.  And, I added irridescent gems to the flowers.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #449 Photo Inspiration

Happy Thursday!

Hope your first week in April is going well.

It's time for a new challenge
at
Krafty Chicks Challenge.

Tangii is our hostess this week and she has chosen a beautiful photo for our Twist!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #449 -
Photo Inspiration
We also have a new Guest Designer for the month ---
Bonnie Klass of Stamping with Klass.
BOnnie is a very talented cardmaker and happens to live in the same town as me, Cary, NC, even though we first met online when I ordered Stampin' Up supplies from her.  Now, we get together as often as we can to stamp together, try new crafty techniques, eat and gab!  She also has a monthly card class at her home that I attend as often as I can.
Welcome Bonnie!

Now onto my card ---
I did double duty for this card.  I created it for this challenge and also sent it to my March Pen Pal over at Stamp Nation.  I had been playing around with some coated cardstock and Catherine Pooler re-inkers and baby wipes.  This particular background kind of reminded me of a Monet painting so I decided to use it for my background for this card.  I kept the rest of the card white so the background would stand out.  I used flower dies by Poppy Stamps as well as the scalloped frame.  The "awesome" die is by Catherine Pooler and I piled three of them together then versamarked the top layer to emboss it with Hero Arts pearl powder and then with glitter.

Now stop by the Hen House and see all the other beautiful projects from my fellow Chick Teammates as well as Bonnie's and leave them all some blog love.  And come play along with us and give our photo inspiration twist a try!  Can't wait to see what you create!

4 Crafty Chicks #418 - Golden Egg Anything Goes

Hi all!
It's not only Thursday today,
BUT,
it's also the 5th Thursday
of the month.

That means a special Anything Goes Challenge,
the Golden Egg Challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks!

Our hostess this week,
as is for each of our 5th Thursdays,
Tangii, our resident Guest Designer!
I'm still in summer mode I guess.  I can't get enough of tropical florals and stamps.  I have several new ones and haven't had a chance until now to play around with them.  So, I may just make my fall a tropical one!

Here I have used a floral set from the most recent Stamp of Approval Collection, Tropically Yours, by Catherine Pooler.  I used a technique from Jennifer McGuire involving Glad Press n' Stick, which was very easy and so helpful in keeping all those pieces in place while gluing!

The background of the sentiment is a grunge background stamp also from the same SOA collection as is the sentiment, which is just from a different stamp set in the collection.

The inks are also Catherine Pooler -- Be Mine and Aquatini.  The sentiment was stamped in Versafine Black Onyx.

Now go visit the Hen House and see all the rest of the projects created by my fellow Chicks!  Then get inky and crafty and come play with us!

No One Else

Another card this evening, another sunflower.  I told you I had played around with Bonnie's stencil.  I've used the ones that came out the best.

This is another monoprint one, using the "negative of the stencil covered in ink, in this sense, dye ink spritzed with water to create watercolor. I added some Perfect Pearls chocolate in the middle and then the sentiment "thank you" around it.  The stamped sentiment is from WPlus 9 No One Else stamp set.

Of course, after I finished it and took photos, I thought to myself, I should have kept off the stamped sentiment. Oh well.  One of those "moments", you know.  lol

4 Craft Chicks #416 - Sunflower Twist

Good Morning, again!

It's a busy Thursday.

There is a new challenge today
at
4 Crafty Chicks!

Amy is our hostess this week
and
she is looking for Sunflowers!

I love sunflowers!  I got so many ideas for this challenge, I couldn't decide.  I also recently went to a "paint or art out" with my son and daughter in law and the painting was sunflowers.

I was originally going to use my painting for my inspiration, but I found a stenciled sunflower in my stash and decided to use it.
I added the sentiment to the center of the flower with a zig zag circle die, and then a smaller circle die with the sentiment embossed on it.  I added some Distress Resist Spray to add some texture and then for a finishing touch I added three water droplets.

Now, go check out the rest of the Chicks' sunflowers over at the Hen House.  Then get crafty yourself and play along with us, either in our always Anything Goes challenge or share some sunflowers for this week's twist of Sunflowers.

4CC #397 ATG + Flower Twist

Good Morning, Thursday!

Boy this week just flew by!

It's already time for a new challenge
at
4 Crafty Chicks!

We are always an "anything goes challenge",
but every week we also offer a twist option to the challenge
for you to try or not, your choice.

Leanne is our hostess this week
and
she has chosen the twist of "Flowers".

Here is my card, full of flowers ---
My week has been hectic but, unfortunately not  very crafty yet.  We've been ripping up carpet, laying tile, painting door frames/moulding, moving things around, getting some new decor.  I guess you could say we've taken "spring cleaning" to a whole new level this year.  LOL . We have family coming to visit next week so we have a deadline to get these things finished.  However, I feel like the mess is multiplying, not decreasing and I'm sooo exhausted! If that weren't enough, we are finally getting new soffits and gutters today, which were delayed from last fall. I know it will look a lot better in a few days but it's like the list lengthens everyday.  I told my teamies I'd share pics so that will be in a post coming soon.  I won't hijack this one.  So, check back in a few days.

Now, please stop by the Hen House and see the rest of the Design Chicks' projects and visit their blogs and leave them blog love.  Then, why not get inky and join us this week, either ATG or play along with our Flower twist!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Card Details:
STAMPS: Flashy Florals-(My Favorite Things); Sentiment-Big Greetings (My Favorite Things).
PAPER: White cardstock - Neenah 110 lb.
INK: Smoky Slate, Peekaboo Peach, Calypso Coral, Soft Sky (Stampin' Up)
EXTRAS: Inside/Out Stitched Senitment Strip die (My Favorite Things); clear gems; Clear Wink of Stella.

I'm entering my card in the following challenges:

4CC #345 - Flowers

Good Morning, Thursday!

Mother Nature is being menopausal again here in NC --- it started out in the 70s this week, hit 83, in the 60s today and by Friday it will plummet into the 40s!  Your typical spring in the northern part of the South!  LOL

Anyhoo, it's Thursday and time for a new challenge at
4 Crafty Chicks!

Leanne is our hostess and since it's now spring,
she has chosen our theme to be:

Who doesn't love flowers?  Even people who are allergic to flowers (I know a couple) like to look at them, at least from afar!

For my card, I decided to use a floral stencil by Tm Holtz that I recently received as a gift from my crafty friend, Bonnie Klass, aka Stamping with Klass.  We got together recently at my house for some chit chat and stamping and she brought me a few little crafty goodies!  Thank you, Bonnie!

I also decided to finally try out the Tim Holtz Distress crayons I have had for a couple months.  I used them on watercolor paper to color in the stencil and then use water to move the color around in each section.  I like how it came out, it has a very textured, painted feel to it.  I wanted to keep it pretty CAS so  just added the green stitched oval die from My Favorite Things and a sentiment from Lil Inker Designs.   I matted it on a bubblegum pink cardbase.

Stop by the Hen House and check out Leanne, Tamie, & Lori's fabulous projects as well as the one from our April Guest Designer, Christine!  Visit their blogs and leave them some blog love, we designers love comments too!

Then, come play along with us and share your flower projects with us.  We love being inspired by you as well!
