Under the Sea themed Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? We have a few things going on. One of which for me is having a haircut. My hair is straight and has just got longer. I have been cutting my own fringe. I think I have managed quite well during this time. It will be nice to have my hair all tidied up by the hairdresser. I might just keep it a bit longer though as I quite like it.

Back in May I made this under the sea themed card.

I used a background that I made a while ago with Brushos and Pixie Powders. No one talks about them much now. I will still be using them as I have lots. The die set I used is the Under the Sea Die set  by Memory Box and it came free with a magazine.

I used up so many scraps of card making this card. Everything that was die cut came from the scrap pile.

Crafts Galore Encore Challenge Blog - May Challenge Anything Goes - Sponsor Star Stampz

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I told you I would be back. This time it is for the new challenge at the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes and the sponsor is the lovely Star Stampz.

I was lucky and I was able to choose one of the images to work with. I do have a bit of a thing about bees.

Like most people I have been having a bit of a tidy up during this time. I found a lot of Pixie Powder backgrounds under a box that I had left there to flatten and had forgotten about. I used one of the backgrounds on this card.  I used the Dovecraft Bee Happy die set to create the hexagons and the sentiment.

The Star Stampz Etsy shop is full of gorgeous images. If you click on the cute image you will be taken there.

This cute  image is called Spring Bumble Bee and it is available HERE.  I created a background for the image on the computer. I printed onto Neenah card stock and I coloured the image with my Promarkers.

I do like this sentiment.

This bee die I won on Holley's blog when she was having her celebration in February.

This is a rather cute card and another one for my stash.

There will be one more post from me today.

Bee Happy Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is you week going? I must admit that I have found it difficult to get going after the Christmas break. There are still  things to sort out with my parents and that is taking a lot of my time.

When challenge  challenge 71 started at the Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog. I made two cards. The first one I shared last week. Now is the time for the second one. To be honest I enjoyed making this card more. The challenge is on until the end of the month and the theme is Anything Goes.

The background was made with Pixie Powders on water colour card.

Our challenge is sponsored by Oddball Art click on the logo and you will be taken to the store.

The bee and the hexagons are from the Dovecraft Bee Happy die collection.

I don't know who I will send this card to but it a good one to have in my stash.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) - Bees

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I am back again today with my second post. This is for the new challenge at the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) challenge blog and June has chosen the theme of BEES.

I was going through my stash and I came across a background I had made with Pixie Powders.

When I think of Bees I think of summer and flowers.

The Bee die came from the Dovecraft Bee Happy Die Collection. I cut the die in black and backed it with white glitter card. I coloured the yellow bits with Promarkers.

The sentiment comes with the die set too.

I made the sunflowers with a Spellbinder's die set. I love sunflowers they are so bright and cheerful they look like they are smiling at you.

I was very pleased with how this card turned out and very pleased that I had bought a bee die set.

Woodware Tatty Daises and Distress Oxides.

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I am glad the snow has gone. In fact our snow had disappeared by Friday evening. On Sunday we got to meet our four month old great niece. She is a little sweetie and we did get a few cuddles. It is so nice to have a baby in the family.

Sometime ago I made a panel using Distress Oxides and the Tatty Daisies stamp from Woodware. It has been lying around on my craft desk for ages. I have finally made it into a card. It is amazing what you find when you have a tidy up.

I know the background is made with blended Distress Oxides that was then flicked with water to make the spots.

I can't remember if I stamped and embossed before I added the Distress Oxides to the paper or after. I did use water to remove some of the colour from the flowers and then I painted them with Pixie Powers made into a paint with water.

The sentiment came from one of my sets of images from Beccy's Place. I had printed it and die cut it some time ago.

This will be a nice flat card for posting. I really am trying not to make so many dimensional cards this year. The postage costs are prohibitive.

Sent with Love and Flowers

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? We have seen some wonderful sunshine  which has been nice. I have been having a quiet time  but I am still finding it hard to craft. One day was wiped out with a massive headache. On the plus side my parents seem to have settled down with their care package and they seem a lot happier. Another piece of good news it that we became Great Aunt and Uncle this week our niece gave birth to a beautiful baby daughter. We had lots of fun in Next picking out a gift to send. All the baby things are just so cute.

I decided to make another card with the flowers I made a few weeks ago.

I used a lot of dies from John Next Door. For the background I used some inky kitchen roll that had been stuck to card. Over this I put the Gerbera Corner die cut in white.

This this the sentiment that comes with the Small Butterfly die set I cut it with the inky paper and made a shadow of gold. I do this often with die cut sentiments it helps them to stand out from the background.

When you use the Gerbera die  you get so many flowers. I stuck two of each size together after shaping adding a pearl to the centre. I do love the small butterfly dies.

Enjoy the rest of the week. I am still trying to finish the ten Christmas cards for my husband's work colleagues.

In the Woods from Beccy's Place

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? Hasn't it been hot. I have to admit that I am finding it difficult to get on. I need to work on the Table plan. We have bought a collage frame that fits nicely in the case.

I am not longer the Guest Designer at Beccy's Place. I just wanted to share with you a couple more of the cards I made with the In the Woods set I was given to work with.

I love the backing that I found in my stash to go with the friendly raccoon. I thin is is meant to be a colouring page. The raccoon was printed onto Neenah card and coloured with Promarkers.

Being digital images they are easy to flip. The background was made with Pixie powders.

There are lots of lovely images in Beccy's store. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

This the wonderful In the Woods stamp set.

Here are all the cards I made with this set. The images were fun to work with.

Bright Cheerful Easter Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? Today we will be on our way back from a short break in Bath. Our anniversary was yesterday and we treated ourselves to a couple of nights away. Sometimes you just have to.

In the weeks leading up to Easter I made quite a few things. I am sharing a bright cheerful Easter card I made mostly with dies from John Next Door.

The background was made with the kitchen roll I used to clean up when I was using some Pixie Powders. You let it dry, then you split the sheets and then glue the sheets to some card. I also used the corner dies from the Sandwich box set to make the lattice.

I stamped the big Daisy stamp onto Neenah card with Memento ink then I die cut them with the Gerbera flowers die. This is just brilliant you get six different sized flowers in one go. I put some Pixie Powders on my craft mat with a little water and I used this to paint the flowers.

This is a Sue Wilson die. I have used it a lot this year it fits into really tiny spaces.

I hope you like this card I really enjoyed making it. I think I will be using these dies a lot.

Brushos and Pixie Powder Sympathy Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

Good morning. It is so wet and damp this morning. I have a meal cooking in the slow cooker. It seems like the perfect day to stay in and craft. I hope you stay safe and warm.

I was looking through my files of photos and I came across this card that I haven't shared yet. It is a Sympathy card they are never easy to make. My husband wanted a card for someone at his work who had just lost his father-in-law.

I made two sheets of the background card with a stamp and a mixture of wet Brushos and Pixie Powders on my craft mat. Once I had finished stamping I spritzed the card to make the colours blend and mellow. I made one sheet a bit lighter so that the main stamp would show up a bit better.

This is a Woodware stamp called Going to Seed. I stamped it with Perfect Medium and heat embossed it with a black powder.

I do like creating these background but I do get very messy. I do have lots of inky kitchen roll that I should be making into backgrounds.

I am not going to be around much for the next few days. We are visiting Disneyland Paris for a few days with our daughter and son-in-law. I hope the weather is kind to us. We are all going to take waterproofs I think we will need them.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) - Anything but a Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going. I hope keeping on top of all that you need to do. There always seems so much at this time of year. Tomorrow we are off to Brighton to see the Bootleg Beatles in their Christmas concert. This will be the third year we have done this it is such good fun.

The new challenge starts on the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) challenge blog and both teams have joined together for this one. It runs until Wednesday 3rd January 2018 at 6 pm.  This challenge is a bit different  we would like to see  Anything BUT a Card so let your  imagination run away with you.
A Box, Bag, Frame, Knitting, Crochet, Book etc. etc. etc.
********
There are some wonderful prizes on offer  for  randomly chosen entrants providing they fit the theme.
You will have one week to email me once the winners have been announced.

You know when you go to a store and you see something and you know you can make it. Well this is how this frame started I was in a shop with our daughter, it was actually the day of her husband's stag do, she spotted a frame like this and I uttered the immortal phrase. So then I had to follow through.

I bought the frame first it came from the Range and was the colour our daughter wanted for the house. I made the background with Pixie Powders and Brushos. I used masks to create the clouds I cut them with some dies I have. I didn't want hard edges on the clouds so I removed the masks and spritzed again with water.

I cut a sheep's body and covered it with Pom Poms. I used gel glue and I laid a book on them to hold them in place. The legs were cut with palm tree die from the Crafter's Companion Nativity die set. That is where the grass came from too.

I have a few Alphabet die sets this one is by Tonic it seemed to be about the right size for the project.

Our daughter and her husband liked the frame which is good it doesn't look much like the original.

This will be my last post before Christmas. I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for supporting my blog.

Card for our Son-in-Laws birthday

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you had a good weekend. We have been involved with delivering my car to Andover so that our daughter can use it while her husband (our son-in-law) is recovering from his operation and can't drive. On Sunday we managed to catch up with some of the Christmas jobs that need doing and we had Christmas choir practice.

Today is our son-in-law's birthday and tomorrow he goes into hospital to have his gall bladder removed. That was what was causing all the pain last week. He is on a very restricted diet so I don't think there will be much celebrating today. He will have to save that until after.

The background is made from Brusho and Pixie Powders soaked kitchen roll. It is what I use to mop up you leave it to dry then the two layers are separated and glued to some card. I used a Decoupage glue it seems to suit this well. I got the idea from John Lockwood and I love it as I used to hate throwing away all the inky colour.

They have a hamster so this cute little image from an old card was ideal.

This is my ever trusty Creative Expressions die. The bird came from their window box set.

This tree came from the window box set as well. There was a space that it filled nicely.

I hope he opens his card before he sees it on Social Media. Oh well it can't be helped.

Enjoy your day.

Happy Crafting.

Pixie Powders and Brushos Christmas cards

Hello my Crafty Blog Friends

Happy Monday? How was your weekend? I hope you did something nice. On Saturday we visited our daughter and son-in-law and had a lovely meal together. We discussed our plans for visiting Disneyland Paris next year to celebrate my big birthday. Then on Sunday we had our friend,  who lost his wife last year,  over for lunch it was lovely to have a catch up. One of his daughter's and her husband have bought a working dairy farm in France it is all very exciting.

Last week I settled down to make some batch Christmas cards for which I needed to create backgrounds. I used water colour card and a mixture of Pixie Powders and Brushos. When they were dry I thought they were rather too pretty for what I had planned. I ended up making some different cards.

I stamped and heat embossed snowflakes in silver and white onto the background. I chose mats and layers to match the colours in the Pixie Powders and Brushos.

I cut this Creative Expressions die in white glitter card and offset is with a deep purple die cut.

I have had this ribbon for a long time this seemed like the right time to use it.

A DL card with die cut snowflakes with and pearl added to each. The die came free with a magazine last year. I used the last of the ribbon on this card.

Another DL card this time just three die cut snowflakes and a different ribbon.

I had one tiny scrap left over so I made this tiny card. The Santa is a Creative Expressions die and the sentiment was cut with some Britannia dies. All the decorated paper has gone now.

Here they are altogether. They do look rather splendid on the side. I still need to make the batch of cards I was planning I will have to make some more backgrounds.

I would like to enter challenge 179 at the Crafting from the Heart Challenge blog and challenge 45 at A Snowflakes Promise Challenge blog.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Happy Crafting
