Still far behind these are late August images. I am sharing a variety of photos, my dog Miney, backyard butterflies, the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds at my feeders, a pretty sunrise and some Florida Flashback photos.

1. Aug 27, images are from my morning walk with Miney and some photos of the hummingbirds and Butterflies in my yard.

I have been sharing lots of butterflies on my blog.  They may look familiar but they are new photos for this post. Back yard butterflies, the Fritillary, Skipper, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Spicebush Swallowtail.

2. A larger look at the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. It is a beautiful butterfly.

3. Aug 30th, sunrise seen from the parking lot at the Dialysis Center.

4. Aug 31st, it was fun watching the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds with my grandsons. I think they were amazed to see these tiny birds flying around our deck.

A closer look at the Ruby-throated Hummingbird at the feeder.

5.  My flashback images this week are from Oct 2016, the Lakeland neighborhood birds. Even though our time living in Florida was short Oct 2016-March 2017, I enjoyed the birdwatching. We visited so many parks and beaches and bird walks around our little Lakeland neighborhood. Below are all birds seen in the neighborhood.  The Osprey on a electric pole.

6. The Sandhill Cranes were seen all around the neighborhood, sometimes walking down the streets. Below they are near the boat ramp.

7. A large flock of Snowy Egrets landed on the pier.

8. A Tricolored Heron standing on the railing.

9. The Black-bellied Whistling ducks were a favorite, I always could hear them flying in and landing on a neighbors lawn. Below they are on a pier.

1. July 17th, Miney and I took our walk to the lake, seen in the collage Miney on the fire road and a little bit of the lake in the bottom two photos.

2. July 20th, walking around my yard, I saw my first Monarch Butterfly of the summer and a Tiger Swallowtail on the butterfly bush.  The Peacock was strolling around our yard.

July 20th, my morning walk with Miney on the local fire road.  Miney likes climbing on a tree that fell across the trail.

3. July 21, our morning walk was to the lake.  We saw a pretty sky reflecting on the lake.

4. July 21, my Merlin App has been picking up the same birds in the same area where I walk with Miney. The White-eyed Vireo is one of those birds, it likes to hang out in the same area.

5. Miney stops and smells the flowers along the trail.

6.  Flashback to my Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, one of my many favorite back yard birds.

It is not often I see more than one Hummingbird at the feeder, they do not like sharing.

I have captured at least two Ruby-throated Hummingbirds at my feeder.

It is rare I see the adult with juveniles, I was lucky to capture this photo of 4 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds at my feeder.

Sometimes I can find the Hummingbirds resting in one of our trees or bushes near the feeders.

In September this juvenile Hummingbird was starting to show of his ruby jewel.

The adult male Ruby-throated Hummingbird is lovely when showing off his ruby jewel.

Aug 14th, thank you for all the well wishes for my hubby. He is doing well and he was told his blood work was good. His diet seems to be a daily battle.

1. June 24, One of my favorite local trails goes thru a pine tree forest. While walking with Miney I had the Merlin App recording the birds I heard singing. The Pine Warbler is a regular in my neighborhood and on this trail.

The Pine Warbler has been seen different times of the year here. I know they are breeders in the forest around our home. I hear them singing during most of my walks with Miney. You can see this male has the yellow with black streaks.

On one of my walks with Miney, we were just on the local fire road not far from home, she stopped and refused to go further, she was watching one section off the trail I thought she was scared of whatever was there. I was thinking it was a black bear roaming around our local forest, I have seen them here before.

The Acadian Flycatcher is one of our summer birds, it returns to the forest that surrounds our home and the Prettyboy reservoir. The Acadian Flycatcher is olive above, narrow eye-ring and has two wingbars. Their forehead is rather flat sloping gently to give a peaked look.

2. June 25th, my walk with Miney is another local fire road trail. I am not sure what these wildflowers are called.

3. June 27th, I watch the Ruby-throated Hummingbird perched near his feeder.

4. June 28th, since we have had so much it seem I am seeing lots of mushroom growing along side the fire road.

5. June 29th, We walked our local fire road once again. This time I did more of a loop and came to a downed tree we had to cross over. She makes jumping over these trees look easy.

6. June 30th, my birdwatching dog Miney was watching some birds up in the tree next to the trail.

7. Lately on my walks, I have been hearing the Yellow-throated Vireo.  I have seen them before in the summer time and my Merlin App has been picking their sounds on my local fire road walks. This Vireo is colorful, has a yellow eye-ring and thick bill, has the yellow throat and it's belly is white.

8. August 2015, flashback photos and a visit to the North Point State Park in Baltimore County. One this day we saw lots of Great Egret, Little Blue Herons and a Tricolored Heron. Below starting on the left are two Little Blue Herons, in the middle is a Tricolored Heron and on the right a Great Egret and another Little Blue Heron.

The transitional mottled Little Blue Heron.

Below is the adult Little Blue Heron

Saturday's Critters # 513

 Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

This is a mish mash of photos and various dates in September. Some photos may look familiar many are of same birds and the same views but they are taken on different days. I am still a little behind sharing our outings and birdwatching in my neighborhood and in my yard.

1. Sept 5th, our walk on the NCR bike trail. It is a popular trail for bike riders, joggers and walkers like hubby and I.  Images are of the trail, the moon, cardinal flowers and an unknown bird, possibly a Red-eyed Vireo. Just a guess.

In my yard, at this time I am still enjoying my Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.

2. Sept 8th, photos are from our morning walk to our local lake. The water levels are getting lower, more mud than water and we are starting to see some Autumn colors. On this day I saw the continuing Solitary Sandpipers, a new sighting for the lake was a Wilson's Snipe, the Belted Kingfisher is always nice to see.

3. I had to check with the local bird club members to verify this bird's id, most people said it was the Wilson's Snipe, I had a few people that said it was a Whimbrel and some a little far fetch said it was  Limpkin. (At this time a Limpkin was being seen at the C&O canal trail in Potomac Md). The Wilson's Snipe tend to blend in with the muddy surrounding, it has a dark head with whitish stripes, head is round and it has short legs. The bill is long and straight.  On my photo the bill is facing down which might make it look curved some?

4. On Sept 9th, hubby and I drove around the lake to another fire road. We had to take another trail due to downed trees across our usual trail.  It was a longer walk total 3 miles round trip. I heard more birds than I could see and photograph. The Eastern Box Turtle is almost a rare sighting around here. The Pokeberries and the Devil's Walking Stick berries were plentiful providing the birds lots to eat.

5.  Sept 10th, at our local lake and just a short walk from our home is my favorite spot for birdwatching lately. Below are the Great Blue Heron, Green Heron, Belted Kingfisher, Osprey, a view of the lake with the low water level and another shot of the Green Heron.

6. Sept 10th, on this day I found the Osprey sitting in a near by tree over the lake.

7.  Sept 10th , the Great Blue Heron is always seen at our lake, the fishing must be good.

8.  Due to the drought our lake water level is getting very low.

9. I enjoy seeing the Green Herons at our local lake.

10.  Sept 11th,  another day and another walk to our local lake.  The Great Blue Herons and Green Herons are constant visitors.  The Bald Eagle flew over a few times.

11.  Sept 11th continued, unknown bird seen at the beginning of the fire road, the lake and lots of turtles lined up on a log. Canada Geese hanging out on the lake shore, a Double Crested Cormorant and more turtles.

12. Sept 14th, I have been noticing the warblers are showing up in my yard. Below are the male and female Cape May Warblers. They do love the berries on the Devil's Walking Stick.

13. Sept 14th, hubby and I took our walk on another section of the NCR trail. I found the Belted Kingfisher and a male Downy Woodpecker.

Still behind I am making some headway sharing our walks and bird sightings.  I hope you enjoyed the birds, turtles and photos.
