...Our Airman picked us up promptly at 6 AM...
...we sadly said our good-byes at the first airport...Naha...
...through security at the almost deserted airport...still pre-dawn...
...but these cheerful orchids are EVERYWHERE...
...first snack of the day...coffee and a small conbini bag of mixed fruit and nuts...
...cheerful orchids by our gate...
...and in the hallway...
...and along pretty much every window...the work required to keep these must be daunting...we actually saw two different workers with carts full of flowers while we were waiting...they took off wilted flowers and replaced some plants...
...we're flying Solaseed for this first leg of the journey...almost 2000 miles to Tokyo...
...that wasn't our plane though...haha...
...second snack...a bottle of water and a bag of these delicious broad beans...
...finally on board...
...leaving Naha...
...leaving Okinawa...
...out over the ocean...
...they served the signature Okinawa fruit drink...pretty sure it's called shikuwasa...and you can see that my hair already needs to be cut...
...nearing Tokyo...
...part of the airport is on piers...
...in the SUPER DUPER NICE Sky Club...
...this is the BEST one ever...we got awesome window seats for our 5 hour layover...first drink is a Shirley Temple from the bar...
...they even had Vegan Udon...
...I also had a salad...and a focacia with avocado and tomato...everything was delicious...
...we played on the computer and phones for a while...and then these servers came by offering tempura vegetables...and sake...so we sampled those...
...midday...
...afternoon...
...just getting dark...we FaceTimed with the kiddos...Big Sissie told us all about her first day of school...
...finally it was time to board our long-long flight back to America...same goodies on our seat as before...
...leaving Tokyo International Airport...
...taking off...
...out over the piers portion of the airport...
...all of those little lights out on the water are boats...
...champagne was served again right after takeoff...
...and a small snack and water about an hour later...
...and then about another hour later my vegan dinner arrived...
...it smells so delicious...it's a chickpea and veg curry with saffron basmati rice...hummus and a coconut salad...and fresh fruit...it was really really good...
...the moon over the Pacific...and that's our sunrise you can see to the east...crossing the international date line is bewildering...
...then my lunch arrived...again the meals were served in what I consider to be backwards order...breakfast will be right before we arrive...at night...
...it's a cheesey vegan veggie wrap...
...and then after a refreshing 3-4 hour nap...haha...the Man said they came by about every half hour and offered us drinks...but I missed it all...
...breakfast...the last meal of the trip arrived...it's a veggie and vegan cheese sammie...and what I thought was yogurt...and fresh fruit again...
...but it wasn't yogurt...it was a vegan fruit gel...odd for breakfast...good though...
...and finally arrived in Atlanta...through customs...and good to stretch our legs a bit...we've got another 4 hour layover...so we went to the much more crowded Sky Club and grabbed a couple of noisy seats for a few hours...it was really really busy...
...and then we boarded the very last plane for the last leg of the journey home...
I was hoping to see the Fly Delta Jets sign all lit up again like we did when we flew west at night...but you must only see it when you fly west and we're going east...
...leaving Atlanta...and we are so very tired...except for naps on the plane(s) we've been up for 32 hours...luckily it's dark and we can go straight to bed...

...1.18...Japan...day EIGHTEEN...
...today is our last full day in Japan...so I went for one last run on the sea wall...
...I'm really going to miss that...
...Subway veggie sub for lunch...with a Dr. Pepper...so you know I loved that...haha...
...and in the afternoon...Our Airman took us on a tour of his squadron...not a lot of photos were allowed...
...but I did snap one of his rescue gear...he said these hoist ropes weigh over 250 lbs...they use them for water rescue too so they are often wet...and it's a manual process to pull them back into the helicopter...as there is no room in the heli for a piece of equipment to do that...so that's a tough part of his job...
...we spent the rest of the day playing with the babes...this little one loves the dirt almost as much as her Dada did at her age...
...she also wants to swing on the big-girl swing...so you have to be pretty careful with her there...
...and this big girl is just an all around monkey...haha...
...Our Sweet Airman's Wife has a birthday next week...so we celebrated a little bit early...with cake and candles...
...and a few little pressies too...the babes were thrilled...especially with the cake...haha...
...and then back at the AirBnb...trying to explain where we're going and why it will be so long before we see them again...when Our Airman is tdy...they usually just tell the girls that Dada is at work...so we told them we have to go back to work...and it will be a long time before we see them again in person...goodbyes are really hard...and they don't even have a concept yet of what a long time is...sometimes a minute is a long time...haha...
...then we cleaned the AirBnb...and packed our bags...Our Airman is coming at 6 AM to take us to the airport...and Big Sissie will have her first day of preschool...
