...a new song...

...it's the first day of summer break and...

...Scout has been figuring out a new song on the piano...do you know it?...I think it's called Poker Face...

...how does he always know I'm back there with a camera...

Let It Be

Scout got his 'appliance' installed yesterday - but he won't allow any photos...

...I wanted a photo of him 'in the chair' but he nixed that as well - he's adjusting well - plenty of wax is involved - and soft foods - and he talks funny - I sent his teachers emails asking them not to call on him to read for a few days...

...so since I have no photos of his mouth - I'll share one of my surreptitious videos of him playing the piano - it's early in the morning and he's still in his pajamas - but he had probably lain awake thinking about this song (we had watched the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on PBS and Paul McCartney and Billy Joel had played 'Let It Be') and right now that's how he's working the piano - he'll hear a song and then spend hours figuring out the tune (gotta love that)...

...a little shaky and slow - but I think he's got it - he saw (or sensed) me right at the end - looked around and said 'I wish you wouldn't do that'...

We have a piano in my house...

I was tickled that the Man-Cub wrote this on a school assignment - he was supposed to describe his house - and of all the things he could have written - he chose to say that his house has a piano. That would probably be one of the first things I would list about my house as well...

Quelle Surprise!!!

Guess what was delivered at 9:00 this morning? A Cable-Nelson upright piano. I've been playing it just about ever since it got here - but I had to come and do a quick post about it - I love it so. So now I know what the Man was sneaking around talking on the phone about.

The bench is from the Kohler & Campbell piano that I played when I was growing up. Thanks to Mom and Karen for sending that to me. I don't think they had any idea that it would be paired with a new piano.

The piano is used and has all of the dates of service penciled in under the top. When I find out more about it's history, I'll post about that. It has a nice tone 'though and some light wear on the keys. I can't wait to give the Man-Cub his lesson on it this afternoon.

I love-love-love my new piano.
