Welcome

Last year our Monday-Mural-Host took me to Curtain University.
"Take the challenge - study the world".

Oh, so sad I´m too old now, I studied in crumply ole Hildesheim (I don´t even care for a link! Come Christmas season they used to have stickers everywhere: "The friendly Hildesheimer".
If you need a sticker to remind you to be friendly, that says it all! Maybe times have changed, I never really went back (but to get my stupid company cars)).

Imagine you could study (or teach, for that matter) at Curtain, Perth!
Not far away you might bump into one of these:

I always thought they were typical for Perth only, buuut... you can also "simply" go to Düsseldorf region (or visit Valerie online) and find them there.
Yupp. I had to get that old to learn that!
Which reads: You´re never too old to learn new things, right? ;-)

When I visited Curtain the first time, 2013, I saw no mural.
Now... Mural heaven!

And they have so much more, hammocks for a break, fountains, it´s a very beautiful and clever uni. Sit down on a bench, sunpowered possibility to recharge your advice included (and I just bet it´ll take at least 10 years till we get that here in Germany!).

I was asked why we don´t move to Perth, if we like it so much.
1999 we could not. I got zero points on work experience (Australia has a point-system based on sooo many things, but this one was an important one).
Now. We are too old. Hubby is sick.
Australia is such a beautiful, wonderful place (no irony!!!), they can pick whom they want.
Very unlike Germany, this country takes anyone. But let´s not get political, it´s about murals, about BEAUTY!!! This last one by artist DEEJ.

Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals.

...what a hairdo, it's so exotic!

Somewhere I have "hair chalk" - bought it for the Nieces. We could run around like that, too. For a day.

I always love it when Sami shows her friend's black swans. And of course, I love it when Valerie does, too. Black swans are indigenous to Australia and were brought to Europe because they were such an oddity. In mathematics, a black swan is an anomaly. It sits in the upper or lower 1 percent of the bell curve. An example is 9/11 in the States. They don't occur as predicted or even expected.

Your black swans are beautiful and so is the girl you found as another mural.

Want to learn more about black swans and Black Swans? Here's a spread I made in 2013:

Thank you, Elizabeth!!! HA: So I was (kinda) right in the first place!.
Oh, 9/11. I wonder how the world (!) would be like if that had not happened. If they could have prevented, disrupted it.
It happened in the US, but we suffer, too. Even in "little" Braunschweig.
To the black swans I go! (online)

I love the black swans, but in this post the eye-catcher is the "beautiful girl".
I feel a little bit better today, how are you?
Wishing you a nice week!
Hugs! 🤗

She is beautiful indeed.
Still a bit snotty here, aw, well. It´s February! Could be worse (whom am I telling this?!)
A wonderful week to you, hugs! :-)

Curtin Uni has some fabulous murals!
I love Deej's work and he only includes the black swan somewhere - the earrings, a brooch, ring...
Thanks for participating Iris.

Thank you for hosting and taking me there, Sami! :-)

We saw a black swan in New Jersey. It was swimming with other swans, and no one knew how it had reached New Jersey from Australia, though the strongest suspicion was that it had escaped from captivity somewhere much closer, not flown from its original home.

Wow.
See. Animals. They don´t care about color always.
Mysterious, but also beautiful.

I never knew about the black swans. Very interesting. I love the mosaic piece, maybe even more than the lovely mural but both good finds!

Iris Flavia said...

Jeanie, you should/could visit Elizabeth on this one!

Can you believe P was a Professor at Curtain University for so many years and since he retired we haven't been back, so all these beautiful murals I enjoy here and on Sami's blog 😀

Iris Flavia said...

Grace! I sure do know that!!! P told me :-)
Why don´t you go and visit on your way to Sami, the two of you, P and you?
