Which One?

I bought cheese. The cheapy one. Four yummy slices, the rest rather boring. Put an egg on the boring ones, it´s OK.

Yesterday night I had leftover meatballs, though, which I cannot share with Ingo as I made them in oil (I have to gag using the stuff Ingo can have it with, health-wise, clarified butter).

One slice of Tisit was left, rest boring Gouda.
Ingo asked, "which one do you like most?" and took the boring Gouda for himself (minus egg even).
You might think, yeah, nice.

But I think, yes, this is also worth a post.

It´s the "LITTLE" things we forget too often.

Especially when you consider we´re not fresh in love, this is not our first or third date, we´re together some whopping 26 years.
And yet, I get the Tilsit!

And more (Ok, that was back then, when we were still in a weekend-relationship):

This food Ingo made for me went all the way from Rhüden to Wolfsburg and made my Monday a little less bad!
Every second weekend, too!

I also get this:

Never take anything for granted - we went through very tough times and this is a special pic:

A Birthday that nearly did not happen.

And I get the Tilsit! A big deal to me :-)

"Lion" of the day:

(From the documentary on our Football-Team)
To "Tilsit"!
To the "little things in life", right - what are yours (if you´d like to share)?

So sweet that he leaves you the good cheese after all these years. I quite like Gouda myself, but prefer Edam or Swiss if I'm eating rye bread.

If it's white cheese, I'll love it. But Ingo is treating you like it's a date, rather than a marriage of many years. Bless him.

The little things. When someone goes out of their way to show me kindness. I will NEVER forget that kindness, unless I develop alzheimers.

River, I like Gouda, too, but this is real cheap one, very young.

Elizabeth, yes, I wanted to share, as I don´t take it for granted and you make a point about alzheimers... you can then go back to the blog and "remember" all those little things!

Those little gestures are very special for sure.
My friend Tony (the one we visited) also sews, as he learned in the army.
Have a great weekend Ingo and Iris.

Valerie, ja, ich weiß das sehr zu schätzen! Dir auch einen schönen Tag - und auch mit Nettigkeiten :-) GlG, Iris

It is all those little things that are done out of love that are so precious in my memory now. I was married to my wonderful man for 45 years, and, like most couples, we had good times and bad - but it is now those little things that I remember most.

Iris Flavia said...

Yes, we have bad times, too - you have my biggest respect you manage without your hubby. Maybe you don´t like it, but I feel very sorry for your loss.
Great you have your family. And the good memories.

This is just beautiful, Iris. Showing great thoughtfulness. I think we have to hold moments like that on days when life gets more thoughless than thoughtful, whether intention or not. Part of any relationship is to keep on keeping on. Unless it becomes so grim or harmful that keeping on is dangerous to body, mind and soul. But most things we work to overcome, to find common ground, acceptance or forgiveness. I loved hearing this, seeing this. It's a treasure.

Iris Flavia said...

Jeanie, I truly agree with all your words. Having had a "different" kind of relationship for 5 years (not all was bad), I sure do know.
Sometimes it´s work, sometimes it just floats over you - it has to be a balance.
"A treasure" - this is true! Thank you! I´ll keep this in mind!

Very good!

The most sewing I'm capable of is a button.

Lovely post.
It's so often the little gestures that are more special.

This is a very special post, sharing is a great thing. I hope your times soon become better again. In a while, tonight or tomorrow, I'm posting a lion that I photographed especially for you, and labeled it "For Iris."

You two are gorgeous together despite the funny five minutes now and then 😉 P is patient beyond belief with me, still after 300 years, especially when it comes to computer problems of which there are many. We tend to forget our anniversary every year but have good times all year 💙

So sweet! It's good to remember to not take things for granted although hard at times...I am not well versed in cheese but I do like Gouda haha..when we get it I always say "it's very Gouda" 😉 I also really like smoked cheddar because my mom used to always buy it...I think I need to add some to my grocery list!

Iris Flavia said...

William, I´m with you!

Jan, yes. No more to add...

Mae, thank you! You´ll find your Lion with Henry soon!
Thank you.

Grace, yes. Those five minutes :-(
Anniversaries are over-rated, right? There were some minutes here, also (that I forgot!).

____

Tanya, "It´s very Gouda", funny!!! :-) I do know cheddar from Australia, but never had smoked one, sounds tempting!
