We had an earthquake and I didnt even realize it. Kayla was in the tub. I had just dressed Caden after his bath. He was almost screaming in hunger and tiredness. I was running crazy trying to rush through baths and my shower to get dinner started and to finally be able to sit down and watch a movie. We were running late and on low energy. The beach takes that all from you. The cat freaked out and I couldnt figure out why. I thought maybe I scared him somehow. Then 30 seconds later Nick called me from out in the jungle. He isnt home at all this weekend. He is camping out with work in the jungle practicing war. Its a base wide exercise this weekend. He asked if we felt it and I of course had no idea what he was talking about, until I realized that is why the cat freaked out. HAHA. Wish I would have been not so wrapped up in Mommy mode at the moment so I could have felt it.

Day #3
Its been 3 mornings now. Yesterday I got through the day better, today I hope to be even better than yesterday. I actually got through the day able to talk about it without bursting into tears. Each time I show Kayla a video and pictures and tell her Dada, it's still impossible for me not to get choked up. Especially when I see her just staring at the videos. Going to bed is still difficult alone, but through each deployment, that always takes a while to adjust to. I seriously hate the first 2 months of this.
Yesterday Kayla and I hung out all day together at home. Around 2 pm I got a call from a fellow spouse of a deployed that Nick was flying with. She said her Mother in Law called her and said her son called and said he was trying to call his wife but couldn't, so he called his Mom collect to let his wife know that he has landed in WI. So we assumed Nick would be calling me too after he got his bags and got to base.
She also said that when they got to Hawaii a lot of the guys split up into different flights. So he may have been a little behind.
Around 3:15 I was sitting at the computer (go figure) and I noticed the monitor shaking. Then I looked next to me at Kayla's pack n' play and the mobile was shaking. Then I felt it. A 5.3 earthquake. This is the smallest one I felt here so far.
I waited around until 4:30 for Nick to maybe call me. Then I went over to a friends house to hang out and watch the season finale of The Bachelor. (which I cannot believe! What a jerk he turned out to be!) It helped a lot to get out of the house for several hours and not think about things.
But when I got home and realized he didn't call, no message on the answering machine, no cell phone call...I realized I NEED him to call. I really need him to call and I hope he knows this. I need to hear him and I need to know he is OK. I kind of think maybe he isn't calling because he and I know how that first phone call always goes. Or doesn't go in my case. Always it ends up with me immediately in tears and I cant even talk. So maybe he's giving me some time.
But Im hoping and praying I hear from him soon. I NEED to hear him.

Earthquake!
We just had an earthquake. It was a small one compared to what we have felt before, but it was still neat. Pooh Bear went crazy. Tried to run to the back of the house then realized that didnt solve the problem so he ran back towards the kitchen where he came from and just stood there confused. It was cute.

10 May 2008- Another Earthquake
So, this morning just before 8 am I was barely awake. Nick got up to go to the bathroom and I was in bed, aware but eyes closed. I thought the bed was shaking ever so slightly. Nick didnt say anything so I assumed it was me being tired. I opened my eyes and that very second....everything shook. Everything was so loud and I heard Nick saying from the bathroom "The door is shaking!!" Duh...everything was shaking.
Islanders woken by 6.6 earthquake
While many island residents planned on sleeping in on this Saturday morning, with others using the weekend to get a jumpstart on doing chores, flea market shopping or running errands, nearly the entire community rushed to dash into doorways after a large earthquake occurred right before 8am. Preliminary data indicates the quake as having registered 6.6 on the Richter Scale.
The U.S. Geological Survey tells KUAM News that the center of the seismic event is estimated to have occurred about 128 miles to the south/southwest of the island's capitol of Hagatna, lasting about 25 seconds. This morning's quake, says geologist Paul Hatorri, is the largest of 2008 and the third such major quake in the last two months.
No damages or injuries have been reported.
Pretty crazy huh? And something even more crazy. I love earthquakes. As long as it isnt big enough to hurt anyone or damage anything...they are amazing.

HOLY EARTHQUAKE!! Yup, I said Earthquake....why? Because yesterday at 6:06 a.m. I was awakened from a deep sleep and a dream. Nick and I were able to sleep in since he had the day off. The bes was shaking. I woke up...kind of, but not really...and I said to Nick "It's that cats." He said, "NO IT'S AN EARTHQUAKE!" Then I thought, Woah..and it was LOUD. I mean...you can hear the wood on the bed rattling, you can hear everything shaking, the house...everything. It was loud. It was our first earthquake! Although, my neighbor Jody said she felt one a few days ago...but I was knocked out and didnt hear or feel a thing.
A freakin earthquake! We were told by several people that Guam gets earthquakes a lot. But I thought....once a year. Nope...we been here 1 month and 1 week and have had 2 of them already. Holy cow!
Here's the news article:
The U.S. Geological Survey has tracked a fairly aggressive earthquake that literally shook residents out of bed at sunrise on Thursday. For about 30 seconds, Guam experienced a temblor that geophysicist Paul Hattori says registered 5.4 on the Richter Scale, the epicenter of which was only about 13 miles to the northeast of Hagatna. He also notes that the intensity of the shaking was such that the USGS computer workstations that record data were knocked offline temporarily due to cards perhaps coming loose. No damages or injuries have been reported.
And yesterday we had a power outage too. That happens a lot on Guam. So an earthquake AND a power outage in one day? Crazy. I love this place. I know, thats crazy too.
Oh and the boys onsie and socks is SOLD.
